Mundines departure creates new management structure for GenOne

by stephen hagan A spokesperson for GenerationOne told First Nations Telegraph that “We will not be appointing a new CEO” in response to enquiries about the sudden departure of their CEO, Warren Mundine (pictured) on Tuesday. Bundjalung man Mundine who quit the Labor Party last year - a party he was the former national president of - is a straight shooter who often comes under attack by many First Nations leaders for his controversial political stance has presented GenerationOne with an opportunity to put in place a new management structure. “GenerationOne has a flat organisational structure, and is focused on achieving the best results to end disparity through employment,” the spokesperson said. “Having teams spread across the country, with an operating officer acting as the main bond is the best option for GenerationOne at this time.” When pushed for more specifics on who will lead GenerationOne the spokesperson said “no one especially”. “We now have in place not one single person who heads the organisation but a number of managers who will head up their area of expertise. “Whenever a phone call comes through our reception the caller will be directed to the manager in charge of that area of work the caller is seeking information on.” Mundine, who has spear-headed GenerationOne’s efforts over the

last year as CEO and Chairman, stepped down from the organisation on Tuesday. “I have dedicated my time at GenerationOne to drive a strong policy agenda that ensures both sides of politics are focused on ending Indigenous disparity through jobs. Having achieved this, I believe now is the time to move on to a broader agenda to drive change,” said Mr Mundine. “Putting an Indigenous person into a job is the only way to end

the disparity. That is why I have been such a strident supporter of GenerationOne’s mission. “I will continue to support GenerationOne’s commitment to ensure Indigenous people are trained and linked into a direct job.” “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our Australian Employment Covenant partners and the founders of GenerationOne – Andrew and Nicola Forrest, Kerry Stokes, James Packer and Frank Lowy for their Page 1

continued support of such a critical organisation.” “Warren has played a critical role in getting Australians to focus on what training into a job really achieves. I thank him for his dedication and his commitment. I know he will bring value to his next pursuits,” said Andrew Forrest, founder of GenerationOne. GenerationOne announced on the day Mundine stepped down as their CEO Jeremy Donovan’s appointment as their new Brand Ambassador, leading the public campaign to end First Nation disparity through employment. “This is a fantastic opportunity for Jeremy. His role as Ambassador will continue the push for policy changes but will also give the youth a generation of new leaders to aspire to,” said Andrew Forrest. Jeremy will make the case for employer-directed training to fill the balance of jobs through the Australian Employment Covenant, work on connecting Indigenous students with careers through the Pathway Program, and build community support for a united Australia. “I am excited by the challenges and what can be achieved in this space with GenerationOne and the Australian public. In my new position as Brand Ambassador I am ready to walk with the next generation of leaders,” said Jeremy Donovan.

Jeremy brings with him a wealth of personal experience, knowledge and understanding of the opportunities now available to Indigenous Australians, and a deep personal commitment to

ensuring every Australian has the opportunity to have a dream, and to pursue it. His new role as Brand Ambassador builds on his previous role as national spokesperson for GenerationOne.
