CELESTIALSTAR VIP DESIGN BBJ 777-9

BY LUFTHANSA TECHNIC

The cabin design fully utilizes the immense space available on the BBJ 777-9, formerly known as BBJ 777X, prioritizing versatility and multifunctionality. The design showcases an impressive array of dazzling features, maximizing both space and comfort while integrating a modern touch.

THE ULTIMATE VVIP JET EXPERIENCE

One outstanding feature is the VVIP section at the front with a unique, expandable, and highly functional private room. A spacious desk and reception area separate the private section from the rest of the aircraft.

The cabin also features a large conference and dining room, seamlessly flowing in design throughout the cabin.
The rear of the cabin is designed to elegantly accommodate entourage delegations, meeting the needs of official missions.

A special concept of lighting and blinds has been integrated throughout the cabin, giving passengers the feeling of being in their personal living room rather than on a plane at 30,000 feet, which is particularly crucial for a very long-range aircraft.

CELESTIALSTAR – SETTING A NEW STANDARD FOR BBJ 777-9 VVIP CABINS Lufthansa Technik AG, in collaboration with Boeing Business Jets (BBJ), has unveiled all the details of its latest VVIP cabin concept for the BBJ 777-9. The new representations of this spacious interior, covering over 340 square meters in total, present a design specifically tailored to the needs of a new generation of VVIP aircraft and heads of state.

With CelestialSTAR, the Lufthansa Technik design team aims to emphasize both contemporary purity and geometric design motifs, as well as the vastness and openness of the sky: a reminder that this is the widest cabin among all new types of available VVIP jets. The flagship element of the new cabin design is the multifunctional private suite for VVIPs, including a cocoon-like private bedroom and bathroom, located adjacent to the work and balance area.

In this cocoon, the bathroom and resting quarters can merge into a self-contained retreat offering the utmost privacy. For example, VVIP passengers may want to enjoy the largest rain and massage shower ever designed for a private jet or feel comfortable in a generous king-size bed.

TRANSFORMING INTO AN ON-DEMAND IMMERSIVE ENTERTAINMENT CENTER

Adapted from Lufthansa Technik's EXPLORER concept, sophisticated projection technology transforms the closed cocoon into an almost immersive world of well-being and entertainment when needed.

It displays a wide variety of personalized digital content, ranging from a cinema screen to 180-degree views of the next travel destination or virtual art pieces. In case of less need for isolation, rotating and sliding slats can open the cocoon to the rest of the cabin, providing access to exercise or dressing rooms on the side or simply allowing more natural light into the VVIP area. This way, the sense of space is maximized thanks to the considerable width of the BBJ 777-9 cabin.

The Work&Balance area adjacent to the cocoon also fully utilizes the cabin's width and is designed to be multifunctional. In both rotating and sliding seats, guests can not only gather around the large VVIP desk for meetings but also turn and move their seats towards the side sofas for conversations with additional guests. An integrated swiveling mechanism also allows expanding the table surface in front of the sofas as needed. Another highlight of the design in this area is the presence of numerous trapezoidal wall niches, for example, for exhibitions, which can be closed with an invisible mechanism if necessary, then seamlessly disappear into the linear wall structure.

LUXURIOUS ATMOSPHERE

Adjacent to the private suite is the Celestial Lounge, through which passengers enter the aircraft like entering a hall. With an elegantly integrated bar for refreshments and several stylish seating arrangements, it ensures the perfect first impression and creates the right setting to welcome high-profile guests on board or prepare them for meetings in the Work&Balance area. Intermediate doors aesthetically and acoustically protect guests from the functional outer doors of the aircraft cabin, creating a pleasant sense of space all around. When the corridors are open, the Celestial Lounge seamlessly blends into the adjacent Conference and Dining area. The eleven individual seats can also be easily rotated from a dining or conference position at the large center table to the surrounding sofas and moved outward for side conversations. Advanced communication and conference technology, such as monitors that can be fully retracted into the table, connect this room, and the entire aircraft, with the world. Particularly noteworthy are the large electrochromic blinds, fully integrated into the oriental-inspired design of CelestialSTAR. With their three-dimensional structure and targeted use of indirect lighting, they continue the functional design principle of the side walls, offering a generous sense of space from all sides, even when closed and without dayligh.t.
