We have always been supporters of youth in the livestock industry as they are undoubtedly our future. We hope all breeders feel the same way and see the necessity to either keep or get juniors involved in promoting our breed and push for our share in the commercial industry. This could be in the form of a conference or include open, 4-H, and provincial or national junior breed shows. We know that “seeing is believing” when it comes to the great cattle of our breed!! b All this takes time, support and financial commitment A for f juniors from us as breeders. We thought this was oour year to do a little more… We W are donating 2 embryos from the most prolific and top producing cow that we have ever raiseda ACC A Candy’s Winegum 14W. Embryos are sired by JSF Gauge 137W. Full and maternal sibs have topped the G Sun S Country Sale in previous years, and 14W embryos hhave been sold to Australia and the U.K. DONATION EMBRYOS PROCEDURE: The final bid in D eeach round will denote the amount of that bidder’s donation. Example: Round 1 - Final bid is $300.00 d tto John Doe, John’s donation is $300.00. Round 2 Final bid is $250.00 to Tom Jones, Tom’s donation is $250.00. Round 3 - The embryos are re-auctioned on a downward scale until no further bids are received at the low of $10.00. Each $10 purchased (donated) represents one chance in the final draw. (John Doe has 30 chances, Tom Jones has 25 chances and so on down the scale to the final $10.00 donation worth on chance each.) One ticket for every $10.00 bearing the contributor’s name will be put in the draw barrel. At the end of the sale, one ticket will be drawn with that person winning the embryos.

Bred Heifer

With only keeping a smaller number of replacement heifers, we wanted to offer one of our top ones for your consideration. Madi 6F is a very complete female in all aspects. She is smooth made with a great set of feet and legs on her. 6F is a female that has had the brood cow look to her for some time now, with the deep cherry red color to boot. Her dam, 34W, has been a very consistent producer for us. The Heat females that are entering production have done a great job during their first year and we look forward to more in these next couple years. Take a look at Madi 6F if you are wanting to add a top-end bred that will be a producer for years to come. This female has something to add to any herd. Bred April 2 to JSF Gauge 139W. No exposure

Four grade 1 exportable embryos. Rene Dottie 72R has done it all for us. Since coming here out of the Gar-Lind Herd Reduction sale, she has produced 6 sons from 6 different sires, and they have averaged $5810 in the Sun Country sale. She went on to be an amazing embryo producer, and we have sold embryos to several countries from her. She will be 15 years old in the spring, and still looks like a very young cow. She still has a near perfect udder. CCS Shoshone was the former herd sire at Lednura Farm in Quebec and he was the 1997 Canadian Champion Bull. He sired calves with tremendous thickness and excellent growth. This is a mating that should produce some beautiful roan calves with outcross genetics. The resulting calves will be registered in the CSA closed herdbook. We will guarantee the buyer will get a minimum pregnancy rate of 50% at 70 days providing an experienced embryo technician is used. These embryos are also exportable to most countries.

Four grade 1 exportable embryos Red Nan 1049 is a moderate framed easy fleshing female with a super udder. Her first calf here was a bull, and he sold for $8000 to a commercial producer. She has become one of our very best donor cows. She is everything we look for in a great brood cow. Mating her to Foreman was easy, as I think he will compliment her extremely well. Foreman had so much thickness and depth of body and the softness needed to be super easy fleshing. Another mating that should result in some beautiful roans. This is an opportunity time to advance your breeding program. The resulting calves will be registered in the CSA closed herdbook. Package of 4 conventional unsexed embryos These embryos present the opportunity to acquire a versatile and proven genetic package. Donor dam, Reflection 80Y, stems from a cow family that has played a significant role in our Shorthorn program. 80Y’s mating to Red White & Roan combines mainstays of the Shorthorn breed–Jake’s Proud Jazz, Double Stuff, Sonny, and the Augusta Pride and Reflection cow families–in a low birth weight package. The Tibbles of Swan Hills Ranch bought a package of these embryos in 2017, resulting in a pair of 2019-born heifer calves that are as stout, attractive, and good-structured as you can make them. For those who would excuse these genetics as purely ‘show-ring’ oriented, the full sister that we showed successfully as a heifer calf has matured into a moderate-framed, extremely hard working two-year-old that calved early, bred back early and weaned over 60% of her body weight on her first effort without extra maintenance. Her maternal sister in our 2019 show string is an impressive individual, and further highlights the incredible consistency of the 80Y donor. TH and PHA Free by pedigree and qualified for export to the U.S. Embryos stored at Sundown Livestock Transplants.
