Welcome to the second annual Horner-Downhill-TSN Bull sale! It is with great excitement that we host this event at the Horner Bull Yard and welcome you to come join us yet again, Feb 26th-27th to view the bulls and for some hospitality. There will be a come and go hot meal served as well as beverages. The Horner Bull yard is located 25 minutes North of Brandon along highway #10. Turn North on to Service road 107, watch for the bull sale signs. We’ve been to lucky enough to be blessed with a great farming year. Albeit a wet spring and late seeding, pasture conditions held all summer and proved to be a recovery year for our grassland that had been drier then normal for so long. Crops yields were steady and we were lucky to put up a pile of feed. Jake and Laura got married on June 25th, after 2 years of delay; in front of their family and friends. It was a beautiful day and certainly a highlight. Our fall was hectic, we participated in 2 shows with 11 head. Our Ag Ex was outstanding, with highlights including being honoured with the Premier Breeder and Exhibitor Titles, All Breeds Heifer Calf Champion with a sale heifer who is a maternal/full sibling to 4 bulls on offer, Champion Simmental Female with HFL Rose 1035J (co-owned with Longview Cattle Co.) getting her a seat in the CN Supreme and Reserve Bull Calf Champion and Third Overall Breeds with HFL Bouncer 2081K, who sells in this very sale! Our help as always was outstanding, Thanks to our showday fitters, and our core crew who is always there for us! (Jayci Jo Best, Naomi Best, Katie and Emma Falconer, Sveinna Bjarnarson, Karen and Alexis Decorby!) Agribition was a thrill, and with higher than normal heifer calf numbers we teamed up with some fellow breeders to bring the Associate Invitational Sale to life. It was a great success and we were overwhelmed by the support. Again, upon analyzation of our bull pen you’ll see lots of consistencies in relation and type and kind. ET and AI has always been important in our program and is a tool we have been utilizing for growth! These bulls are sound structured, good footed, free moving and athletic with enough performance and calving ease bred-in to be versatile in most any program. They are built the way we like them and how we would like to see them if utilized in our cow herd. We have developed these bulls for sale the exact way we would if they were to be retained within our own herd. High roughage TMR and a balanced ration with Bullseye nutrition (Thanks Phil and Matt!) Our focus is longevity and athleticism and we are confident these bulls will go out and work for you. In the past we have freeze branded our bulls for identification purposes, this year the time just seemed to have gotten away from us. We would be happy to provide this service free of charge after the bull sale if the successful bidder wishes. Visitors are always welcome for a tour prior to the bull sale. We would love to have you!
