Welcome one and all to the 49th edition of the World’s Premier event of the Red Angus breed proudly referred to as the Canadian Red Round-Up! All of us here on the First Class team, are absolutely vibrating in anticipation to get this super-charged mass of electricity called Red Round-Up underway in 2021. Now that being said, we also have our “eye on the prize” that lies ahead next year in our Golden year, the 50th Anniversary event. Darnell and I at this time want to unveil our theme or slogan if you will for this year’s show and sale. “We are proud of the path that we have all walked down…yet remain focused on the road that lies ahead.” The history behind this event is absolutely amazing and we are all very grateful of how we have gotten to this point yet we all must look and plan ahead to make this breed bigger, better, faster, stronger still. With Red Round-Up leading the charge in the right direction, we are all in very capable hands. As you look through this year’s catalog, please note some upcoming projects for the 50th Event that require your participation. Please give us your input and feedback. Some of these elements are: history of Red Round-Up sale book, cover contest, and special bred heifer division in the futurity. Many changes have occurred once again for the greater good of Red Round-Up 49. We are once again focused on our youth movement through the remarkable “Extravaganza”, we at First Class have created. Now into its 6th year, we have handed out just over $207,000 in the last 5 sales. With the Friday night fundraiser, designed purposely and exclusively to fund this portion of Red Round-Up, we are anticipating being able to credit the junior’s $10,000 in sale vouchers. Part of the way our marketing team is able to do this is through the extremely generous donations by all involved. We have a very short yet very necessary Extravaganza Fundraiser Auction. This follows the Frozen Section at Friday night’s banquet (check out the items up for bids on page 11 - I do believe you’ll be impressed). The $100,000 Futurity is taking on a life of its own darn near, we have now assembled 14 major sponsors. Each of them has put forward and entrusted to us at First Class and MSM $10,000 each. These cash money payouts will be handed out at the 50th Banquet in 2022. Many, many thanks to these fine people and businesses for their investment in our breed's next generation. Please come by the newly formed trade fair booths for our major sponsors and say thanks to the following contributors: AltaGenetics – Terry White Angus World – Dave Callaway Best Farming Systems – Sean Thomas Bullseye Inc – Tom McNeely CRAPS – Mark Majetka CDN Angus Assoc. – Miles Immerkar Davis Rairdan Embryo Transplant – Adam Schierman, DVM Diamond T Solutions – Rob Smith DLMS – Mark Shologan First Class Cattle Marketing – Darnell Fornwald KDL Cosmetics – Kelsey Little Olds Regional Exhibition – Tracy Gardner Pomeroy Inn & Suites Olds – James Wilson Sweet Pro Premium Supplements – Shawn Harder **Attention Parents of our Junior Kids** Back by popular demand at the 3rd leg of the 2021 Futurity, we will once again be hosting the “Best pair of heifer class” (last year we paid out $8,000 to 4 spots). In order to qualify for this you once again must invest in a 2021 calendar year heifer calf in the Red Round-Up sale on Saturday, October 16, 2021. Once this step is completed, you now have 2 options for this class. You can either pair your newly acquired heifer calf with your bred heifer or your 2 year old cow already entered in this year’s Futurity. Keep in mind as well the extra special bred heifer division at the 2022 Futurity and the very exciting Owners Herd class. This class will consist of a bred heifer, a 2 year old cow, and a 3 year old cow all owned by the same junior purchased at Red Round-Up. Big prize money will be involved for both classes next fall. As per usual I have selected each and every lot inside these covers and I have to say… Darnell and I couldn’t be any more proud of this offering. Every one of our consignors have risen to the challenge of presenting a better and stronger set of Red Angus genetics than in prior years to. I have a feeling that our very enjoyable yet challenging sale-order-making ritual could take a little bit more time. What a set of cattle have been assembled for your viewing and purchasing pleasure. Right from the heifer calf line up through the carousel of bred heifers, pairs, pick lots, and frozen genetics section, we have strength in abundance. Come early, stay late, share some laughs, meet new friends or catch up the old ones… fill your boots!! Just make sure you are in attendance because everyone else will be.

Sincerely, Bryan and Sherry Mackenzie
