Rajouri/Jammu: Army troops guarding the LoC recovered small arms and narcotics from Rajouri district of J&K on Sunday, officials said. Two pistols, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and heroin was among the recoveries made, they said.

6 dead in accident on Samruddhi Expressway in Buldhana district

First India Bureau Buldhana: Six persons were killed after their car met with an accident on Sunday morning on the Samruddhi Expressway in Maha rashtra’s Buldhana dis trict, a police official said.

The accident took place at 8am at Shivni Pisa vil lage when the car, with 13 occu pants, was on its way from Aurangabad to Shegaon here, Buldhana Superintendent of Police Sarang Awhad told PTI.

New Delhi: The Centre in a filing to the Supreme Court on Sunday stuck to its earlier stand that same-sex marriage is not compatible with the concept of an “Indian family unit”, which it said consists of “a husband, a wife, and children which necessarily presuppose a biological man as a ‘husband’, a biological woman as a ‘wife’ and children born out of union between the two - who are reared by the biological man as father and the biological woman as mother”.

It is submitted that despite the decriminalisation of Section 377 of IPC, petitioners cannot claim right for same-sex marriage to be recognised under the laws of the country, it said.

Mumbai ACP Nitin Bobde dies on duty due to heart attack

First India Bureau Mumbai: Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of Yellow Gate Division, Nitin Bobde, died after suffering a heart attack at his office between 2 pm and 4 pm on Saturday. 55-year-old Bobde came on duty around 10 am, according to Mumbai police and rested in his room after having lunch around 2 pm. However, when staff of his office knocked on the door, there was no answer from inside. Sensing that something was not quite right, the staff went inside but found Bobde to be unresponsive.

The staff rushed him to St. George Hospital for treatment, but the officer could not be revived. The post-mortem is being conducted at St. George Hospital. Bobde was a Senior Police Inspector at Mankhurd Police Station before taking charge as Senior Police Inspector of Matunga Police Station. He was then promoted as ACP and posted at the Yellow Gate Division.
