The incident occurred in the Timarpur area on Saturday evening, they said. The deceased has been identified as Rajat who lived with his family in Karawal Nagar. He had a part-time job in the Karol Bagh area, the police said. Rajat had left home in the morning and jumped from the Signature Bridge into the swollen Yamuna river while returning in the evening. New Delhi (ANI): The Delhi Police on Sunday busted a racket involved in the stealing of oil from the tankers of Indian Oil and arrested one person accused of committing the theft. The person, identified as Amarjeet, was arrested after the police raided his premises in Mundka. According to the Delhi Police crime branch DCP Vichitra Veer, the accused person was present at the spot with several other persons, who upon interrogation revealed that the tankers used to get the oil from the Indian Oil depot situated at Tikri Kalan destined to Petrol Pumps. The Delhi Police crime branch further said that Amarjeet had hired a property in the village Mundka, Delhi. The property was currently vacant and had enough space for the parking of oil tankers. This is nearby to the oil depot situated in Tikri Kalan, Delhi and not very off-road to show the deviation of oil tankers from the main road, it said. As per the police, Amarjeet had induced several drivers of oil tankers, who used to wait outside the oil depot for tea or relax for the time to get their turn to fill up the oil tankers. “He convinced the drivers of the oil tanker for not being detected stealing the oil in small quantities from the tankers with the capacity of more than 10,000 litres,” it said.

elebrating 75 years of Independence is an emotional and landmark moment in a country’s history. What’s even more important is that we have been able to hold on to democracy and democratic values, even if at times they get distorted, when other countries in the neighbourhood and elsewhere in the world became infamous as failed. India is a nation on the march in all its glory, with all its cultural richness and diversities despite a divide on religious, ethnic and caste lines. These fault-lines have existed from years prior to the Partition and, therefore, need to be watched to prevent them from deepening to prevent a 1947 happening in 2047 when the nation comes together to celebrate a centenary of Independence. Pakistan did not learn from 1947 therefore 1971 happened and millions were massacred in what is now Bangladesh.

The world’s third-largest economy in terms of purchasing power parity is going to contribute about 14% of global growth this year, he said, even while the country faces the risk of rising deficit due to higher import bills on the back of global commodity prices. Patra said India can sustain a current account deficit of 2.5-3% without getting into an external sector crisis. “A striking feature in India is that our growth is home financed — investment is financed primarily by domestic savings, with foreign savings playing only a supplemental role,” PatraIndiasaid.at present is the third largest economy in the world in terms of purchasing power parity with a share of 7% of global GDP, after China’s 18% and the USA’s 16%. India’s GDP in market exchange rates is expected to reach $5 trillion by 2027. By that year, India’s GDP in purchasing power parity terms will exceed $16 trillion, up from $10 trillion in 2021. He said India can achieve a double digit growth in the next decade if the economy can overcome challenges and capitalises on the world’s youngest workforce it has, along with manufacturing and export promotion.Thiswould make India the second largest economy in the world by 2031, he said.
INFLATIONARY IMPACT ON FMCG COS TO CONTINUE IN QUARTER 2 New Delhi (PTI): Inflationary pressure on some raw material inputs for the FMCG industry is abating but the manufacturers expect its impact on price and margins to continue in the current quarter. In the April-June quarter, listed FMCG companies including - HUL, ITC, Godrej Consumer Product, Nestle, Dabur and Britannia delivered mixed results, reporting an impact on their margins and mostly, a drop in volume in some categories.FMCGcompanies also expect volume decline to continue on the rural side but see some stabilization in the business and recovery in demand, starting from the third quarter of FY23.Companies such as Britannia Industries said that it has taken necessary price increases in Q1 which were not covering inflation at this point but a good part of this will be covered by the July-Sept quarter. ‘’We were not able to take the entire price increase during this quarter. We have taken some price increases in the first quarter and we will complete that in Q2 of this year,” said Britannia Industries MD Varun Berry during recent earnings while responding to a query on the near-term price increase. In April-June, Britannia reported a 13.24 percent decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 335.74 crore while its sales were up 8.74 percent to Rs 3,700.96 crore. When asked about the inflationary scenario, Dabur India CEO Mohit Malhotra in his post-result analyst call said inflation would not abate in the second‘’Andquarter.second quarter, we will see margin compressions, but I think in the third quarter onwards when we lap over inflation of around 11%, 12% through the last year, we think that commodities will soften. So, the third and fourth quarters should see a bit of softening of inflation and price increases kicking in, and the margin protection happening in the second half of this fiscal, heDaburadded.India has reported a marginal increase in its consolidated net profit to Rs 441.06 crore. HEAL IN INDIA & HEAL BY INDIA PROJECTS TODAY
UP’s ‘village of soldiers’ gears up to celebrate Independence Day Muhammad Mazhar Saleem Ghazipur: In Gahmar, one of the country's largest villages and where almost every household has members who have served or are serving in the Army, the enthusiasm is palpable on the eve of Independence Day with the tricolour hoisted atop every house. In this "village of soldiers", hoisting the tricolour on Independence Day and Republic Day is a tradition and the government's 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign this year has only added to the spirit of patriotism. The central government has launched the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign under which people are being encouraged to hoist the tricolour at their houses to mark 75 years of India's independence.Villagers say soldiers from Gahmar have fought in wars from World War II to Kargil conflict. Pictures and medals of soldiers adorn shelves in most houses of Gahmar. Village head Balwant Singh estimates that Gahmar has given 20,000 soldiers to the country so far. Currently, about 5,000 villagers are working in different positions in the Army, he said. Gahmar has a population of about 1.25 lakh. "The spirit of patriotism resides in the heart of every family living here. Ours is a village of soldiers. You will definitely find a soldier in almost every houseManyhere.members of most families are serving in the Army," Balwant Singh said. "Though Independence Day is celebrated every year in Gahmar village, this time special preparations are being made to mark 75 years of independence. People of the village have also joined the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign," he said. The tricolour has been hoisted atop every house in the village and the administration is also doing its bit to make the campaign a success, he added. Ishwar Chandra, a social worker, said the spirit of patriotism gripped the village after many of its soldiers laid down their lives in World War II. Multiple generations of some families have been associated with the Army, he said. One such family is that of Lt. Col Ram Bachan Singh (retd.) who took part in the 1971 India-Pakistan war.Three generations of Ram Bachan's family have served in the Army. His son Ashok is currently serving in the Army. Gahmar even has a training ground to help those who wish to join the Army prepare for it. Village youths have arranged all the necessary equipment for running and exercise in a ground near a river bank and they train every morning and evening, social worker Chandra said. The ground resembles an Army training unit, he said, adding that it has a running track and various other facilities needed for rigorous training for Army recruitment.Chandrasaid youths of the village are inspired by their elders and also get preference in Army recruitment as children of ex-servicemen. Hardly a dozen people from the village have made it to officer ranks, he said.

As you wake up in the morning of Independence day the most amazing thing that happens is patriotic songs start to play on loud speakers. It reminds us that millions of people of our country have sacrificed their life so that we can live in our country. We did get freedom from the people who were dominating us and literally destroying us. I’m glad all our ancestors, grandparents, whoever sacrificed their life. ASHISH TIWARI cityfirst@firstindia.co.in I ANUJ SACHDEVA Independence Day means freedom of speech for me. I believe we have taken it for granted with time since the new gen has not gone through the sacrifices done by so many leaders during the pre-independence era to remove British rule. Fav freedom fighter will always be Gandhi. He is known to be the Father Of The Nation for a reason and has always been praised for his way of living worldwide. And, my favourite patriotic film is Gandhi.
CHARRUL MALIK Independence is happiness. We have the freedom to have our right to education, speech, and many more things. Independence to me is about making my own choices, own decisions, fending for myself and not being dependent on anyone for monetary or materialistic needs.
MITAALI NAG Independence Day is surely a day which reinforces the patriotic spirit in me. The whole year we are busy hustling in our lives, but this particular day always reminds me that this hustling would have no meaning to it if I wouldn’t have an independent country to live in. My favourite freedom fighter is Rani Lakshmi Bai. Being a woman she did not give up and revolted against the British and fought on the battlefield. Even having an infant did not stop her from playing the role of a warrior. I instagram.com/thefirstindia

He fought for our country and because of him, we got the help of other countries. My favourite patriotic film is “Border” which is directed by J. P. Dutta. The film is amazing. I cried so many times watching the movie. My favourite patriotic song is “Dekho Veer Jawano”.
SUDHANSHU PANDEY Independence means the rebirth of my country. We are living our life happily because of our freedom fighters. We can breathe freely. It is significant for me because it gives me a sense of Pride. I feel very proud when I realise, our India was under British rule for so many years, with the help of the freedom fighters and the leaders we are living our lives freely today. My favourite freedom fighter is “ Bhagat Singh”. I love the films by Manoj Kumar. The film is always patriotic. My favourite patriotic song is “Mera Rang De Basanti Chola”.
