Thane: An attempt to murder case has been registered against a man for al legedly stabbing a woman colleague af ter she refused to marry him, police said on Wednesday.
Thane: Two men allegedly killed a 20-year-old to take revenge for the murder of one their brothers in Thane district, police said. According to Kalwa’s Assistant Police Commissioner Vilas Shinde, the body of the Mohammad Itthad Mohammad Abdul Vahid, with his throat slit and injuries on both legs, was found in Kausa area of Mumbra town on Mon day. The deceased was a native of Malda in West Bengal. Based on inputs, the police arrested Sanif Asu Sahi from Bandra in neighbouring Mumbai on Tuesday, the official said. During questioning, Sahi—who hails from Malda—told the police that he and his associate Zakir Shaikh killed Vahid. The accused suspected his younger brother was murdered by Vahid and his associates three years back. To avenge his brother’s death, Sahi and his associate allegedly killed Vahid on September 18.

New Delhi (Agencies): Indian banks are expected to witness a 90 basis points fall in gross NPAs to 5% in this fiscal year to March and further improve to 4% by end of March 2024, said rating agency Crisil on Wednesday. The key indicator of banks’ asset quality is likely to improve, “riding on post-pandemic economic recovery and higher credit growth,” the agency said. Loans of Indian banks jumped 15.5% in the two weeks to August 26 from a year earlier, while deposits rose 9.5%, latest RBI data showed.The asset quality of the banking sector will also benefit from the proposed sale of NPAs to the NARCL, the agency said.“The steady improvement in corporate asset quality is clearly reflected in leading indicators such as the credit quality of bank exposures,” senior direct at Crisil Ratings said.
