New Delhi (PTI): While Amritpal Singh continues to elude the Punjab Police, Waris Punjab De (WPD), the organisation he heads, has also come under the scanner of the intelligence agencies with reports pointing to attempts by WPD associates to inculcate a radical and violent way of thinking in inmates of the drug de-addiction centres run by the outfit. “If the inmates do not subscribe to the radical views, they are physically beaten up till they start toeing the line of WPD,” a source said claiming that WPD uses inmates of drug de-addiction centres to stage violent protests. “Amritpal is involved in nexus of drugs and procures low quality cheap antidotes of drugs,” an officer said.

GOVT EXTENDS AADHAAR-VOTER ID LINKING DATE
New Delhi: The Union Law and Justice Ministry has extended the deadline for voluntary linking of Aadhaar and Voter ID from April 1 this year to March 31, 2024, as per a notification issued on Tuesday. The Ministry had on June 17, 2022, notified April 1, 2023, as the “date on or before which every person whose name is included in the electoral roll may intimate his Aadhaar number in accordance with the said section”.
Tuesday’s notification replaced the date with “31st March, 2024”.
