Not opposed to UBT & VBA alliance: Ajit Pawar

Mumbai: Senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar on Tuesday said the his party was not opposed to the newly minted alliance between the Shiv Sena –Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray and Prakash Ambedkar’s outfit Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) in Maharashtra.

Speaking to reporters after a party meeting here, Pawar said,

“Where does the question of our displeasure over the Shiv SenaVanchit alliance come from? Why is the media spreading misinformation? We came to know (about the alliance) through the media. I, along with NCP state President Jayant

Patil will meet Uddhav Thackeray, have a clear discussion about this and present our stand.”

On the Shiv Sena having a stronghold over the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the NCP leader said, “It is unquestionably true. That is why a positive discussion on contesting elections with Uddhav Thackeray has already happened. As Maha Vikas Aghadi, we will discuss this (alliance with VBA) with Shiv Sena and Congress.
