Modi on Friday claimed that the Congress used Northeast as an ATM, while the BJP considers the eight states of the region as ‘Ashtalakshmi’ (eight forms of Goddess Lakshmi) and is working for its peace and development.
Addressing an election rally at Chumoukedima near Dimapur, he said the NDA is striving to bring permanent peace in Nagaland so that Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 is completely lifted from the state.
“The country can’t be run by distrusting your own people but by respecting and solving their problems. Earlier, Northeast had politics of divide, but we have now transformed it into divine governance. The BJP does not discriminate people on the basis of religion or region and religion,” Modi said.

GUJ HC LAWYER CHALLENGES ANTICIPATORY BAIL TO ASSAILANTS; SC ISSUES NOTICE
Gujarat (Agencies): Gujarat HC Advocate challenges anticipatory bail granted by Trial court Ahmadabad to assailants who attacked him, Supreme Court issues notice to State and accused. The Hon’ble apex court bench comprising of Justice KM Joseph And Justice B.V. Nagarathna issued notices in a matter challenging the Gujarat High Court order wherein the High court dismissed the appeal on the sole ground that FIR filed by Petitioner lacks basic ingredients of the offence punishable under the provision of SC/ST Act. The Petitioner was abused and beaten up by residents of a Society in Ahmedabad. The accusedRespondents humiliated and insulted the Petitioner and further made derogatory statements pertaining to caste of the Petitioner.
Petitioner filed FIR against the accused Respondents, fearing arrest, Respondents preferred an anticipatory bail application before the trial court, Ahmedabad which came to be allowed by imposing certain conditions. Aggrieved by the said order, Petitioner preferred a criminal appeal before the High Court of Gujarat which was later dismissed by the High court stating that specific words were not narrated in the FIR and passed an unreasoned order as to how an anticipatory bail application can be entertained and allowed under section 18A when there is a specific bar on grant of anticipatory bail. The Petitioner was represented by Adv Aditya Jain, Bhavya Golecha and Shravi Garg.

The Allahabad HC has observed that it is difficult for a woman to live alone after a live-in relationship ends, as our society does not accept and recognise such relationships. The court was hearing a bail application of a man who was arrested for not fulfiling his promise to marry the woman, his live-in partner.
While granting bail to the man, Justice Siddharth noted that the woman in a live-in relationship is left with no option but to lodge a case against her live-in partner in such a situation.

ED GETS THREE DAYS REMAND OF SUKESH CHANDRASHEKHAR
New Delhi (ANI): A Delhi Court on Friday further granted 3 days remand of alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar to ED, recently arrested in another case of extortion and money laundering. He was arrested in an enforcement case information report registered by the ED for allegedly duping former promoter of Religare Enterprises Malvinder Singh’s Wife Japna of Rs 3.5 crore. As per complainant, Sukesh had called Japna by impersonating himself as a senior government official.

Bengaluru (Agencies): The Karnataka High Court on Friday quashed the divorce order of the Raichur Family Court as the petitioner was found to have filed divorce petition in the courts of two states concealing the facts to the respective courts. The petitioner from West Bengal, Anirban Das, worked at the Raichur industrial Development Centre. The Division bench headed by Justice Srinivas Harish Kumar and Justice T.G. Shivashankare Gowda stated that the petitioner had submitted divorce petition in courts of two states.
