UNRAVELING THE FACTORS BEHIND A COMPANY’S FAILURE TO ACHIEVE TARGETS

By examining factors such as inadequate planning, unrealistic targets, poor communication, resource constraints, and external influences, organizations can identify areas for improvement and make the necessary adjustments. Addressing these issues will enable companies to optimize performance, foster growth, and increase the likelihood of future success

the world of business, setting targets and goals is an essential practice for measuring success and propelling growth. However, there are instances when companies fall short of achieving their desired objectives. Understanding the reasons behind this failure is crucial for identifying areas of improvement and charting a more successful path forward.

One of the primary reasons companies fail to reach their targets is due to inadequate planning. Setting ambitious goals without a well-defined roadmap can lead to confusion, disorganization, and a lack of direction. Without a solid plan in place, employees may struggle to prioritize tasks, allocate resources effectively, and coordinate efforts towards a common objective.

UNREALISTIC TARGETS

Sometimes, companies set targets that are simply too lofty or unrealistic given their available resources, market conditions, or internal capabilities. While it is important to challenge employees and strive for excellence, setting unattainable goals can demotivate teams and create a sense of frustration. Realistic goal-setting requires a thorough understanding of the company’s capabilities and a careful

assessment of external factors that may impact performance.

POOR COMMUNICATION AND ALIGNMENT

Clear and effective communication is vital for ensuring that everyone in the organization is aligned with the company’s objectives. When there is a lack of transparent communication, employees may not fully understand their roles and responsibilities in relation to the targets. Misalignment between departments or teams can lead to inefficiencies, duplication of efforts,

UNDERSTANDING THE REASONS BEHIND THIS FAILURE IS CRUCIAL FOR IDENTIFYING AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT AND CHARTING A MORE SUCCESSFUL PATH FORWARD

and ultimately hinder progress towards the desired outcomes.

INADEQUATE RESOURCE ALLOCATION

Even with well-defined goals and plans, a lack of adequate resources can hinder a company’s ability to achieve its targets. Insufficient budget allocations, limited manpower, or outdated technology can severely impact productivity and hinder progress. It is important for companies to regularly assess their resource needs and ensure that the necessary tools, tech-

nologies, and talent are available to support goal attainment.

EXTERNAL FACTORS

External factors beyond a company’s control can also contribute to target non-achievement. Economic downturns, shifts in market dynamics, regulatory changes, or unforeseen events such as natural disasters can disrupt operations and impact performance. While these factors may be difficult to predict or mitigate, companies must be agile and adapt their strategies to navigate through challenging circumstances.

CONCLUSION

Failing to achieve targets is a common challenge faced by companies across industries. By examining factors such as inadequate planning, unrealistic targets, poor communication, resource constraints, and external influences, organizations can identify areas for improvement and make the necessary adjustments. Addressing these issues will enable companies to optimize performance, foster growth, and increase the likelihood of future success.

ALL IN A FEW MINUTES

A BIG BANG & THEN DARKNESS

Balasore/NewDelhi:In a matter of a few minutes, an express train entered a wrong track, hit a stationary goods train, its coaches got scattered all around including on an adjoining track, and another train coming at a high speed rammed into them and derailed. Many wagons of the two passenger trains, together carrying nearly 2,000 on board, turned turtle. According to a preliminary probe and eyewitness accounts, this is an estimated timeline for one of the deadliest train accidents in the country that left hundreds dead and nearly 1000 injured.

z Around 1,200 personnel, 200 ambulances, 50 buses, 45 mobile health units worked at the accident site, with officials saying the tragedy was compounded due to multiple tracks passing through an embanked area.

z Army columns, including engineering and medical personnel, were rushed from Barrackpore and Panagarh in West Bengal. Two Mi-17 helicopters were deployed to evacuate the injured passengers, a defence official said.

z Policemen and locals are volunteering to donate blood at Balasore district hospital and other hospitals through the night, said officials. More than 2,000 people gathered at the Balasore Medical College and Hospital in the night to help the injured, and many also donated blood.

z The injured have been rushed to Balasore, Soro, Bhadrak, Jajpur Hospital and SCB Medical College in Cuttack.

z Doctors from AIIMSBhubaneswar have been dispatched to Balasore and Cuttack in Odisha to assist in the relief operations at the train accident site, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said.

‘Kavach’ system comes into focus after train accident

New Delhi (PTI): The train accident in Balasore, which killed hundreds of people and injured nearly 1,000, has brought the railways’ automatic train protection system “Kavach” into focus. The railways has said that “Kavach” was not available on the route where the accident occurred on Friday.

The system alerts when a loco pilot jumps a signal (Signal Passed

WHAT IS KAVACH KAVACH’S FEATURES

at Danger — SPAD), which is among the leading causes of train collisions. The system can alert the loco pilot, take control of the

brakes and bring the train to a halt automatically when it notices another train on the same line within a prescribed distance.

Indian Railways has developed its own automatic train protection system “Kavach” to enhance safety of trains. Kavach has been developed indigenously by the Research Design and Standards Organisation in association with three Indian vendors. Kavach will not only aid loco pilot to avoid signal passing at danger and over-speeding but also help in train running during inclement weather such as dense fog. Thus, Kavach will enhance safety and efficiency of train operations.

which was on the loopline and derailed”.

“In meantime, (train number) 12864 passed through the down main line and two coaches of it derailed and capsized.”

The loop lines of Indian Railways are constructed in a station area — in this case, Bahanagar Bazar station — to accommodate more trains to ease out the operations. The loop lines are generally 750 metres in length to accommodate full-length goods train with multiple engines. While Coromandel Express was at a speed of 128 kmph, Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express was running at a speed of 116 kmph. The report has been submitted to the Railway Board.

CM has made ACB a lion without teeth: CPJoshi

Govt is flouting the zero tolerance policy on corruption

Aishwary Pradhan

Jaipur: BJP state president CP Joshi attacked the state govt over growing corruption cases and said that the fear of law and administration has ended among corrupt officers and employees. He said that there are more than 500 cases registered in the ACB and approval for action against the accused is in a limbo. Approval has been given in only 13 cases and refusal in 29. This has sent a message that even if they are caught, they will be acquitted due to poor law and order.

Joshi said that CM Gehlot may take credit for taking maximum action against the corrupt but in reality the figures are opposite. Gehlot is flouting his zero tolerance policy on corrup-

Tharoor terms Law Commission’s advisory on sedition law ‘shocking’

New Delhi (PTI): Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Saturday described the Law Commission’s recommendations backing the sedition law as “shocking” and said this must be “resisted” as the law is already grossly “misused”.

The former Union minister’s remarks came after the Law Commission proposed retaining the penal provision for the offence of sedition, saying repealing it altogether can have serious adverse

ramifications for the country’s security and integrity. The commission, chaired by Justice (retired) Ritu Raj Awasthi, also suggested increasing the minimum jail term for the offence of sedition from

three years to seven years, seeking to bring it in consonance with the scheme of punishment provided for other offences under Chapter VI of Indian Penal Code, which deals with offences against the State.

Tharoor also said:

“My 2014 Private Members’ Bill & @INCIndia’s 2019 manifesto argued for amending the sedition law to bring it into conformity with SC rulings that restrict sedition to incitement to violence against the state,” he said.

E ven though the opposition parties have made the non-inauguration of the new Parliament House by the President a nationwide issue, President Droupadi Murmu seems to be unaware of these things. Recently, when the King of Cambodia HM Norodom Sihamoni arrived on his 3-day visit to India, our President appeared in a new avatar. When there is a scene of salute at Fort Court, usually the PM is leading in this convoy and the President behind. This scene has been common since the era of predecessor

Kovind. But this time the scene was different. This time the President was walking in front. As soon as the VIP car of the King of Cambodia stopped to welcome him, the President was standing at the front. She was chatting very well with the king. When the time for the photo shoot was fixed, the PM was seen standing to the right of the guest. According to the protocol, the PM should have been on the left, the President gestured to the PM to stand on the left, but the PM raised his hand and said, ‘I am right here’.

T he Chandrapur seat has fallen vacant due to the sudden demise of Suresh alias Balu Dhanorkar, the lone Congress MP from Maharashtra. Now there is hue and cry among the party leaders regarding who will be the candidate from Congress in the Chandrapur by-election. Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole wants to field late Dhanorkar’s MLA wife Pratibha from here, while another section of party leaders is in favor of giving ticket to former Chandrapur MP and trade union leader Naresh Puglia. The then Shiv Sena MLA Dhanorkar had ‘joined’ the Congress a day before the nomination for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He was a big ‘liquor businessman and had no shortage of money’, perhaps that is why at that time he had got veteran leaders like Mukul Wasnik and Vijay Vaditwar to his side and it was these leaders who then stopped Puglia from rebelling. In 2019, under the alliance, the Chandrapur seat had gone to the BJP from the Shiv Sena quota, due to which Balu had to leave the Shiv Sena in a hurry and join the Congress.

WHY IS PAWAR WORRIED ABOUT DAUGHTER?

A t least twice in the last 2 months, NCP leader Sharad Pawar has met Gautam Adani. Anyway, Pawar has old relations with the magnates, he has a big economic empire spread far and wide. So, Pawar coming out of his shell and rejecting the JPC demand of his fellow opposition parties when the opposition parties made such a hue and cry over the Hindenburg report was a great sacrifice for his best friend Adani. Anyway, the relationship between Adani and Pawar is not of today, rather this relationship is 3 decades old. But the biggest question is that when Uddhav Thackeray has gone abroad for a holiday, then why Pawar suddenly reaches Varsha to meet Maha CM Shinde at his official residence. Moreover, as soon as Pawar comes back, he meets Gautam Adani. If sources are to be believed, Pawar wants to see his daughter Supriya Sule occupy the post of CM of Maharashtra.

WHY IS THE GOPINATH MUNDE FAMILY ANGRY?

Gopinath Munde has played an important role in bringing the BJP closer to the OBC castes in Maharashtra. But in his absence, the distance between his daughters and his family from the BJP has started increasing. A glimpse of this was seen recently in a program organized on the birth anniversary of Ahilya Holkar in Maharashtra. In this program, former Maharashtra minister and BJP leader Pankaja Munde said, ‘I am not afraid of anything, fear is not in our blood, if I don’t get anything, I will go to the field to cut sugarcane.’ Going a step further, Pankaja also said, ‘BJP can be mine, but I am not of BJP.’ It is said that Pankaja has been angry with her party ever since she lost the 2019 assembly elections. She feels that some leaders of her own party conspired and defeated her in the elections. When she was a minister, she was accused of ‘chikki scam’. Just this April, a GST raid on a sugar mill owned by her family took place, due to which Pankaja’s relationship with her party has soured these days.

KHARGE’s PUBLIC COURT OVERSHADOWED BY ‘VIP ROUTE’

Party people have a common complaint with Cong National President Mallikarjun Kharge that it is difficult for the common workers of the party to meet him. On the other hand, many other senior party leaders like Pawan Bansal like to meet party workers regularly. So, keeping in mind the sentiments of the party workers, one day suddenly Kharge announced through his social media platform that he will organize his Janata Durbar on this Thursday i.e. June 1, which will be convened at the party office at 24 Akbar Road, New Delhi where even a small worker of the party can meet him. Kharge’s message had a wide impact among party workers and they marched towards the party HQs in large numbers on Thursday. But look at the coincidence, on the same day at 9 am, ‘VIP route’ was started on Akbar Road and policemen were deployed on a large scale around the Cong HQS. Because on the same day the PM of Nepal Prachanda Dahal Kamal was set to meet PM Modi. Usually, Akbar Road is kept free from ‘VIP route’ to go to Hyderabad House, but on that day this route was preferred, so a large number of workers could not enter Congress Hqs.

Gehlot on Saturday remained on a whirlwind tour of Jalore, Sanchore and Rohat in Pali district. He said that the public welfare schemes of the state are the subject of discussion across the country. “Rajasthan is the only state in the country to give right to health. From a humanitarian point of view, the OPS has been implemented by the State Govt,” said Gehlot while addressing the inauguration-foundation laying ceremony of development works worth Rs 296 crore in Jalore on Saturday.

The CM also visited the Mehangai Rahat Camps and interacted with the beneficiaries.

He laid down foundation of various works costing about Rs 56 crore in Rohat, Pali and the inauguration-foundation laying ceremony of the of Savitri Bai Phule in Agri Produce

During his stay in his hometown Kota, Birla held a public hearing at the Speaker’s camp office and spoke to the First India.

U P CM Yogi Adityanath is known for his bold and dynamic decisions. When the people of Gorakhpur complained to him about the ‘narrow roads of the city’, he, in one stroke, demolished the encroached shops on the side of the road and made them move back so that the people could get rid of the jam that occurred for hours. Then Yogi received a complaint, especially from the women and girls living there that it becomes difficult for them to pass through the area of Ramgarh Tal, so Yogi converted this lake into a picnic spot where day and night there was movement of people. Girls can now have a ‘picnic’ till late. Police officers and bureaucrats of the state say that they do not get any instructions from the CM or the CM’s office on the phone all the time, so that they carry out their work freely.

Advent of a new political party in Raj?

First India Bureau

Jaipur: Although it can’t be believed, but reliable sources are claiming that a new political party will be formed in Rajasthan

on June 11! There is talk of the party being in ‘understanding’ with the BJP on at least 15 seats and word is that Sachin Pilot himself can contest from Ajmer. And then finally after the elections will this party be merged with BJP or not?

Different people have

different guesses. A source in Pilot camp expressed disappointment over this possible development and said, “How long should we trust assurances of Rahul and Priyanka. As such, there is pressure of Pilot supporters to form a new party.”

CM Gehlot asked for a second mike and is seen in a video throwing away the faulty mike. He also reprimanded some people standing behind a group of women.

“We never shut down anyone's plans. They stop our public welfare schemes as soon as there is a change of power. Great relief has been given to every consumer of Ujjwala Yojana. Not only from Jodhpur, I am not far from the whole of Rajasthan and 36 communities of the state have given me full blessings,” he told First India in an exclusive interview. “I have told all the MLAs that you will get tired of asking, but I won’t tire while giving,” Gehlot said.

Lakhs of hopes knocking at Naveen Jain’s door as edu department eyes completion of major works!

Rajendra Chhabra

Jaipur: In this current government, Naveen Jain is the seventh ‘chief’ of Education Department and he has come to the helm of the department at a time when there is a mountain of challenges before the department.

Prior to this, Jain has handled work in Labour, Roadways, Food and Panchayati Raj department but the work in Education department is more expansive, problematic and important.

The next three months are extremely important for education department and four major work related

developments are going to happen in these months. Firstly, more than two lakh thirdgrade teachers are to be transferred prior to the election code of conduct comes into force. Second, posting has to be provided to more than forty eight thousand candidates (teachers), who have passed both levels of REET exam, in schools. Thirdly, laptops and tablets have to be distributed to more than ninety thousand topper students. And fourth, recruitment of about ten thousand English language teachers for English medium schools. The transfer of third-

Naveen Jain

grade teachers is in itself a major difficulty for the state government and the government had been postponing it for the past four years. But now it has become the political and administrative need of the state government to come up with a solution of this issue. It is a herculean task in which Secretary

Naveen Jain will have to give his all.

Then, giving posting to forty eight thousand teachers who have passed both levels of REET exam, is a major exercise, specially in the election year since the government will have to accommodate political pull and pressure. The state government has not distributed laptops to children, even once, in the four and a half years and it is important that in the last six months, the state government works on this scheme worth 222 crore rupees. Officials prior to Naveen Jain have left this work on him. Appointment of ten thousand English

language teachers is part of budget announcement and how will these recruitments be conducted with transparency, Naveen Jain will have to be immensely careful to show his capability in this regard. Jain will also have to strike a chord with minister BD Kalla and MoS Zahida Khan as it is known that the there is not enough ‘understanding’ between the two ministers. It will be interesting to see how Jain handles the issues at hand and it would not be wrong to say that this is Naveen Jain most tough posting in his 22 year career as a bureaucrat.

in front of the camera is a whole different experience.

Before entering television, I was involved in numerous street plays and theater productions. In fact, I have an upcoming comedy play titled "I Love You Too," which I perform whenever I find spare time amidst my shooting schedule.

MAGIC OF HITEN Famous actor Hiten Tejwani shared insights about his journey as an actor in exclusive interview with City First

The exciting news that Star Plus is re-telecasting the popular show "Kyun Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi." How do you feel about this and what can you share about your experience working on the show?

Firstly, I want to express my gratitude to all the fans for their love and support. It's truly overwhelming. I actually started my journey with Ekta Kapoor's show "Kutumbh," where I portrayed the character of Pratham Mittal. Now, Ekta Kapoor is giving me another opportunity with a character that is bigger and better than Pratham Mittal. It's an honor to work with her again.

Working on "Kyun Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi" was an incredible experience. Karan Virani, the character I played, was loved by the audience, and it was a joyous time collaborating with the entire cast. Smriti Irani, in particular, was very supportive. The

atmosphere on set felt like a family, especially since the show introduced numerous family-oriented roles. Even though I joined the show four years after it started, everyone welcomed me with open arms.

You have recently joined the cast of "Bade Achhe Lagte Hai-2." Could you tell us a bit about your experience so far?

Yes, I have recently joined the cast of "Bade Achhe Lagte Hai-2." Although I haven't had a chance to watch the show yet, I have heard many wonderful things about it. It feels great to reunite with Balaji after a gap of 2-3 years. Working with them has always been

a fantastic experience.

When it comes to my creative process for the role, I believe in understanding the character right from their birth. I receive a good briefing about the character, but there are also many things I need to figure out myself. I use my imagination to build a character that resonates with the story and the audience.

How you got involved in acting. Can you share a bit about your journey?

Certainly! Acting has always been a part of our lives in one way or another. We all engage in acts, even in our daily lives when we hide something or present ourselves differently. But acting

In the video, Sara Ali Khan is seen holding Sharmila Tagore’a arm, and the duo pointed towards the moon on one side, and the sun rays on the other side. Lata Mangeshkar’s song Chanda Hai Tu Mera Suraj Hai Tu is played in the background. TOO CUTE TO HANDLE

icky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif never fail to give couple goals and melt our hearts with their mushy posts. All eyes are on Vicky and Sara Ali Khan as their film Zara Hatke Zara Bachke just hit the theatres on Friday. Meanwhile, like a sweet wife, Katrina turned cheerleader for her hubby and congratulated the entire team on the film’s release. But what caught our attention was the Masaan actor’s romantic reply to his wife. Taking to her Instagram handle, Katrina Kaif shared the poster of Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan starrer Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. Sharing this poster she also announced that the film is now in cinemas and wrote, "Congratulations to the entire team. A film made with so much heart!" Later Vicky reshared this post on his story and wrote, “Tu hai to mujhe phir aur kya chahiye” with a red heart emoji and a kiss emoji.

Initially, I had a desire to do something on screen, and I dabbled in theater and editing. Interestingly, I used to direct editors during that time. Eventually, I entered the television industry through auditions and was selected for my first show, "Ghar Ek Mandir." Since then, there has been no looking back.

Could you share a lifechanging moment or experience that has had a pro-

found impact on you?

Absolutely. While I always had the aspiration to work in TV and entertainment, I never anticipated the immense love and support I would receive from people. It's truly the best feeling in the world. However, I must mention that marriage and having kids have been the most life
