Fresh warning against betting and gambling advts
New Delhi (ANI): The Information & Broadcasting Ministry has advised media entities, media platforms and online advertisement intermediaries to refrain from carrying advertisements/ promotional content of betting platforms.
In an Advisory on Thursday, the Ministry took strong exception to the recent instances of mainstream English and Hindi newspapers carrying advertisements and promotional content of betting web- sites. The Advisory has been issued to all media formats, including newspapers, television channels, and online news publishers, and showed specific examples where such advertisements have recently appeared in the media.

The Ministry has also objected to the promotion by a specific betting platform encouraging the audience to watch a sports league on its website, which prima facie appears to be in violation of the
Copyright Act, 1957.
While emphasizing on the legal obligation as well as the moral duty of the media, the Advisory refers to provisions of the Norms of Journalistic Conduct of the Press Council which, interalia, mentions that “newspapers should not publish an advertisement containing anything which is unlawful or illegal............”, and further that “The newspapers and periodicals should scrutinize the advertisement inputs from ethical as well as legal angles in view of the editor’s responsibility for all contents including advertisement, under Section 7 of PRB Act, 1867.”

DELHI GOVT MOVES SC AGAINST LG ON TEACHERS TRAINING IN FINLAND
New Delhi: The Delhi government on Thursday, approached the Supreme Court seeking direction to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena to act on the aid and advice of the Council of Ministers in the wake of LG prohibiting government school teachers from receiving foreign training in the future. A bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justice JB Pardiwala said it would hear the case on April 14. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi appeared for the Delhi government.

New Delhi (ANI): AAP on Thursday named former MLA Sushil Kumar Rinku as its candidate for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha bypoll, scheduled on May 10.
On Wednesday, hours after being expelled from the Congress, Sushil Rinku joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann. The Congress party had expelled Rinku, the Congress MLA from Jalandhar West constituency, for indulging in “antiparty” activities.
New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday filed a supplementary chargesheet in Delhi’s Patiala House Court against three Tihar Jail officials in a Rs 200-crore money laundering case involving Sukesh Chandrashekhar.
Additional Sessions Judge Shailendra Malik has listed the matter on April 18 for further hearing.
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to entertain a plea by BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari against the Calcutta High Court order, refusing to interfere with the West Bengal panchayat poll process. EXCISE POLICY SCAM: ED FILES 2nd SUPPLEMENTARY CHARGE SHEET
New Delhi: In a latest development in the Delhi excise policy scam case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday filed second supplementary charge sheet against Raghav Magunta, the son of Ongole YSR Congress MP Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy, Punjab-based businessman Gautam Malhotra and one Rajesh Joshi, an aide of Vijay Nair. Delhi’s former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and businessman Amandeep Singh Dhal have not been named in this charge sheet.
