Jaipur: The ‘inside story’ related to Mahesh Joshi’s resignation as Chief Whip is that CM Gehlot had told Joshi to resign. Joshi had already offered to resign but recently, due to the sharp statements made by Sachin Pilot, the things had already started moving at fast pace. The discussion was about the fact that Joshi will continue in the post till the current session of the Assembly. Discussion on Demands of Grant of various departments is yet to be held in the Vidhan Sabha and Joshi could continue for the floor management. But the situation became clear due to the sudden visit of Rajasthan Congress incharge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa to Jaipur with a message

CM APOLOGISED TO SONIA GANDHI BUT

HE WAS NOT AT FAULT: MAHESH JOSHI of the high command.

While talking to reporters at the Circuit House in Jodhpur on Sunday, on the question of accepting the post of Chief Whip, Water Supply Minister Mahesh Joshi said that after the September 25 incident, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot gave an apology to Sonia Gandhi and took responsibility for the entire incident even though he was not at fault. Joshi said that Congress party in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has linked his resignation with the September 25 incident but he would wait for action against those who try to weaken the Congress party.

After this Joshi resigned without losing a moment.

However, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, on being asked about the possibility for any further disciplinary action, said, “I will not send any report about this matter, but if the high command asks me to take any [further] action, I will do so with immediate effect... I have done what the high command asked me to do.” Now the new leader will be selected for the post of Chief Whip. There is also a possibility that the new Chief Whip may also be from the Pilot camp. Till now only Mahendra Choudhary is considered suitable for the post of Chief Whip.
