Bengaluru: CM Ashok

Gehlot reached Bengaluru on Friday evening to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Karnataka’s new CM Siddaramaiah today. Talking to media, Gehlot said, “We and Vasundhara ji never had talking terms for 15 years. There have been no talking terms after our govt left in 2003. We do talk sometimes now, but that too if we meet at a function.” The CM said, “Bhairon Singh Shekhawat ji was ill, then he had gone out of country. The people of his party conspired to topple govt. I was State Cong President. I told them that CM has gone for heart treatment and you are toppling the govt in his absence, I won’t support it. Baliram Bhagat was the Governor at that time.”

CM said that senior BJP leader Kailash Meghwal had said when opportunity presented itself that this is not their tradition. “I did not hear that sentiment from Vasundhara ji. When MLA used to meet in lobby, they used to say that even Vasundhara ji didn’t want to topple, but media is media. Quotes change as soon as the headline changes,” he said. “People of K’taka have taught BJP a lesson, BJP has got a crushing defeat in Karnataka. That’s why they are inaugurating Parliament soon to say that everything is fine, but something’s not quite right.”
