Bengaluru: Underlining the potential of India’s defence sector

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the country which was the biggest defence importer for decades now exports defence equipment to 75 countries.

“New India of the 21st century will now neither lose any opportunity nor lag behind in hard work. We’re ready. On the path to reforms, we’re bringing a revolution in every sector. The country which was the biggest defence importer for decades now exports defence equipment to 75 countries,” said PM at 14th edition of Aero India 2023 event.

“Today, India is not just a market for defence companies in the world,” said Modi.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday upheld central government’s power to hold Jammu and Kashmir delimitation by dismissing a plea challenging the Centre’s decision to constitute the delimitation commission for redrawing the legislative assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies in the Union Territory. The court has also observed that issue of validity of the exercise of power relating to Article 370 is subject matter of petitions pending before the apex court. A bench of Justices S K Kaul and AS Oka delivered the verdict on a plea filed by two Kashmir residents.

Nothing in this judgement shall be construed as giving an imprimatur to the exercise of power under clauses one and three of Article 370 of the Constitution.

l The Supreme Court on Monday postponed the Municipal Corporation of l CJI DY Chandrachud on Monday administered oath of office to 2 new judges of the Supreme Court, Justices Rajesh Bindal and Aravind Kumar, taking number of judges in the SC to its full sanctioned strength of 34.

Delhi (MCD) mayoral elections, which were previously scheduled for February 16. The decision was made in response to a petition filed by AAP, calling for the prohibition of nominated members from voting in the polls.
