Dehradun (PTI): The Uttarakhand Cabinet on Wednesday gave its approval to a policy for compensation and permanent rehabilitation of the affected families and people in land subsidence-hit Joshimath.
It approved a onetime financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to people who were running shops or business- es in rented accommodations rendered unsafe by the disaster.
The approval to the proposed policy was given at a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Secretary S S Sandhu told reporters.

New Delhi (PTI): A seven-year-old girl was allegedly burnt with tongs and beaten up by her adoptive mother and her son in Delhi’s RK Puram, police said on Wednesday. The 50-year-accused woman works as a nurse at a central government hospital here and is currently on the run. Her son was arrested and sent to judicial custody, police said. The girl’s biological parents are relatives of the accused, police said. The girl has been sent to a child welfare facility. There were scars and injuries on her body, a police officer said.

Bhubaneswar (ANI): Focusing on the development of Sports infrastructure at the elite and grassroots level, the Odisha Government is investing over Rs 2500 crores as its one of the priority sectors, said R Vineel Krishna, Secretary of Sports & Youth Services Department. “The CM desires that Odisha should become a health, fitness and sports-oriented society. And therefore, in the last few years the state government has been investing in creating massive infrastructure, organising national and international sports championships,” he said.
6 DEAD, 8 INJURED AS JEEP CRASHES INTO TRUCK IN GUJ
Patan (PTI): Six people including four women were killed and eight injured after a jeep rammed into a stationary truck from behind in Gujarat’s Patan district today afternoon, police said. The incident took place near Radhanpur when the driver of the Mahindra Jeep, which was carrying some 15 passengers, lost control after a tyre burst, said Deputy Superintendent of Police K K Pandya. The jeep was heading for Varahi village, he said.
