Narendra Modi on Friday said Tuberculosis (TB) will lose and India and the world will win, adding that while the global target to end TB is 2030, India is working on eliminating it five years earlier, by 2025.

Inaugurating the One World TB Summit 2023 in Varanasi on Friday, Modi said that the India of today is known for achieving its goals and the govt has taken a pledge to eliminate TB from the country.PM Modi also launched TB Preventive Treatment (TPT), TB Free Panchayat Initiative, Family Centered Care Model for TB and India’s Annual TB Report 2023 during the event.

Mentioning India’s global role in the fight against TB, he said efforts made in this direction since 2014 should be known to the whole world today because it is a new model in the global fight against TB.

“We had called upon the people of the country to make Nikshay Mitras join the TB-free India campaign. After this campaign, about 10 lakh TB patients were adopted by the common citizens of the country.

ED ATTACHES AMBIENCE TOWER WORTH OVER `252 CR IN MONEY LAUNDERING CASE

New Delhi: The ED on Friday said it has attached a multi-storeyed commercial complex, worth over Rs 252 crore, in Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh area in connection with a money laundering investigation linked to an alleged bank fraud case against the Ambience Group. The immovable property is named Ambience Tower and it belongs to a company called Ambience Towers Pvt Ltd, a firm of the Ambience Group promoted by Raj Singh Gehlot, ED said in a statement. A provisional order, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, was issued by the ED to attach the commercial building worth Rs 252.17 crore.

Agartala: Ruling BJP MLA Biswa Bandhu Sen was elected the Speaker of the Tripura assembly on Friday defeating opposition CPI-M-Congress joint candidate Gopal Chandra Roy. Septuagenarian Congress-turned-BJP leader, Sen secured 32 votes, while Roy, one of the three Congress MLAs, bagged 14 votes. The tribal-based Tipra Motha Party (TMP), which has 13 members in the assembly, walked out from the house just before the starting of the Speaker’s election expressing their displeasure over the sitting arrangements in the house. The TMP supremo Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barman earlier promised to support the CPI-MCongress joint candidate and the party’s legislature party leader Animesh Debbarma, who is also the incumbent leader of the opposition, was one of the proposers in Roy’s nomination paper.

3.9 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE FELT IN MANIPUR, NO DAMAGE REPORTED: NCS

Imphal: A mild intensity earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter Scale hit parts of Manipur on Friday, the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) said. The NCS said that the tremor hit Manipur’s Moirang and adjoining areas on Friday morning. The quake struck at a depth of 51 km from the surface. There was no immediate report of any casualty or damage to property. Successive earthquakes in the mountainous northeastern states, especially Assam, Mizoram and Manipur, have the authorities worried and having to make structure quakes protective.

This financial support of Nikshay Mitras for TB patients has reached above Rs 1000 crore,” he said. PM Modi also said a total of 75 lakh TB patients have benefitted from the Direct Bank Transfer (DBT) of Rs 2000 crore sent to their accounts since the launch of the scheme by the Central government in 2018.
