VOTED #1 CHARITY FOR SUPPORTING OUR MILITARY, VETERANS, & THEIR FAMILIES * As the world faces extraordinary challenges, Fisher House Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to expand the network of houses that serve as a “home away from home” for our military, veterans, and their families. Despite the challenges of COVID-19, and thanks to your support in previous years, Fisher House Foundation opened six new houses in 2020, including the first Fisher Houses built in the states of Louisiana, Michigan, Nebraska, and West Virginia. Additionally in 2020, Fisher House responded to the changing needs created by the COVID-19 pandemic of both military and VA communities. When safety measures at the beginning of the pandemic called for hospitals across the country to limit visitors, many Fisher Houses were unfortunately closed to guests. Recognizing that these homes are a resource just steps from the hospital, some VA facilities allowed frontline medical staff to stay at Fisher Houses. This allowed the frontline workers to protect their vulnerable families and also make the most of their limited non-working time. In 2021, Fisher House Foundation will remain flexible and continue to respond to the challenges that military familes face. It will continue to expand into VA communities with a focus on serving the growing population of Iraq and Afghanistan service members that are transitioning to civilian life. *MSN.com, July 27, 2018

Fisher House Foundation is best known for its network of 90+ comfort homes where military and veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment. Located at major military and VA medical centers nationwide and around the world, Fisher Houses have up to 21 suites with private bedrooms and baths, and offer a common kitchen area, warm dining room, laundry facilities, and inviting living room for guest families to share. Fisher House Foundation also operates the Hero Miles program, which uses donated frequent flyer miles to bring family members to the bedsides
SINCE 1990:
1,200 Rooms offered each night
of injured service members. To date, over 70,000 airline tickets have been provided through Hero Miles, saving service members and their families an estimated $105 million. The extensive use of medical centers by veterans and service members is why Fisher Houses are essential. Fisher House will relieve the burden of costly hotel stays on families and allow them to focus on what is really important: being there for loved ones when they need it most.
