Volunteer Searching for a way to make an impact in the community? Consider volunteering some of your time to assist with various events and programs happening throughout the City. Fishers Parks & Recreation relies upon volunteers throughout the community for assistance. Each volunteer is matched with opportunities of interest so that the experience is rewarding and fun. Volunteer opportunities are available all year long. Volunteering with Fishers Parks & Recreation is a meaningful experience that connects residents with neighbors, causes and opportunities that help to make our community a better place. Curious about opportunities that are currently available? Visit the calendar at www.Fishers.in.us/Volunteer to learn more.

Volunteer Spotlight Searching for a fun way to get involved? Consider joining our team at Mud Day! We’re searching for four volunteers, ages 18 or older from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 9th to assist with Mud Day. Taking place at Cyntheanne Park, volunteers at this event need to be willing to get messy! Outside of assisting with setup and tear down, volunteers may be helping to monitor rinse stations or working to get children “unstuck” from the mud. Volunteers should wear clothes they’re comfortable getting dirty or wet. Flip flops or athletic sandals are acceptable shoe attire, and we encourage you bring a towel and/or a change of clothes. Please dress for the weather, volunteers will be outside during this event! Mud Day is an incredibly popular event, and volunteers ensure this summer tradition can continue taking place in our community. Contact us today to sign up, all volunteers must pass a background check, but no additional training is needed. Dan Domsic Community Engagement & Volunteer Coordination

It’s no secret, our community is lucky to have some amazing outdoor spaces to spend extra energy and unwind from a busy day! This summer, we’re joining forces with the Indiana Children and Nature Network to help residents of all ages get outside for nature play. Parents, we know what you’re thinking, but this initiative isn’t just for the children in your life. While nature play has been proven to improve academic performance, concentration and increase physical fitness in your children, it’s also proven to have profound effects on you! So join us for Nature Play Days, June 11th through June 19th. Capture photos of your nature play day and share them on social media using hashtag #FishersNaturePlay to document your adventure. We’ll be awarding prizes and insights on where to go and what to do in the Fishers parks system. As a reminder Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve is a protected preserve. Residents interested in exploring off trails or getting hands-on with rocks, trees and leaves should explore Cheeney Creek Natural Area or Flat Fork Creek Park.

Our vision is to heighten awareness for the natural environment, encourage lifelong learning in natural and cultural histor, allow opportunities for outdoor recreation, maintain habitat diversity and instill a sense of stewardship for all living things.
