FISHERS BIZ SPOTLIGHT

with

On the heels of their expansion plans announced in December 2017, Think Fishers sat down with Aggressively Organic’s Chief Executive Officer, Jonathan Partlow, to get the details on his groundbreaking company. Think Fishers: Tell us about Aggressively Organic. What’s your 30-second pitch? Jonathan Partlow: Aggressively Organic is like having all the benefits of a farm without having to own a farm. You can grow fresh, yummy, and healthy vegetables in the most efficient, sustainable growing method available in your home and because it’s growing in your home you can harvest when hungry and the plant keeps growing and giving. TF: What do you love most about being part of the Fishers community? JP: I love Fishers because of the people and the community mix of traditional warmth with a boldness that shows up in the entrepreneurial culture and the support from the people and the local government. It’s a cool place that has a lot of possibility. TF: What’s your favorite lunch spot in Fishers? JP: Gotta love McAlister’s! It has something delicious for everyone. TF: As if 2017 wasn’t big enough, what’s new for Aggressively Organic in 2018? JP: In 2018, we will have a new location announced to establish larger operations in Fishers, expanded offers and selections including materials, and some other surprises. TF: To us, Fishers is a smart, vibrant, and entrepreneurial city and we know our businesses are too. Which of those words best describe Aggressively Organic? JP: If we had to choose just one it would be entrepreneurial. We’re innovating the way people grow and consume food while striving to make a difference in our world.

You can learn more about Aggressively Organic online by visiting aggressivelyorganic.com, and follow them on Facebook, Instagram (@aggressivelyorganic), and Twitter (@AggressivelyOrg).

A LOOK AHEAD TO THE YEAR IN FISHERS Think Fishers sat down with city department heads for a preview of priority projects planning over the coming year.

In the December edition of Think Fishers, Mayor Fadness outlined the vision for our community, and his desire to create a smart, vibrant, entrepreneurial, and sustainable Fishers far into the future. This month, Think Fishers sat down with city departments to learn more about their top priorities for the coming year. From public safety to infrastructure to recreation opportunities, there’s no shortage of work to be done over the coming year as we strive to serve the residents of Fishers by providing effective and efficient public service.

investments in citywide road infrastructure projects as well as progress on the State Road 37 project. The SR 37 project, taking place in partnership with INDOT, Hamilton County, and the City of Noblesville, will transform transportation in Fishers and Hamilton County. The reconstruction of the roadway and conversion of the traffic signals to grade-separated interchanges – much like Keystone Parkway in Carmel – will allow for better traffic flow for residents, commuters, and visitors. This will also allow for improved traffic flow east and west through the community, and allow for better pedestrian and bicycle connectivity once completed. Drainage and utility construction are both anticipated in the summer and fall of 2018, with road and bridge construction beginning in 2019. More information can

departments making us one of the most staff-efficient municipalities in the state. In 2018, the Human Resources Department will continue developing the City of Fishers as an organization that attracts the best and brightest talent, retains and develops current staff, and provides effective, competitive benefits programs. Throughout 2018, Fishers’ Business Solutions Group will be working to modernize the technology of the organization. Business transformation efforts will be top of mind for this group in 2018 as they focus on five important pillars: people, assets, land, public safety, and money. Focuses will include implementing software solutions that improve the end-users’ experiences, aggregating data in a meaningful and easy way, and building tools that allow City staff to easily make data-driven decisions for the city. The new year brings one large goal into focus for Fishers’ Fleet Management Department: modernization. With hopes to more effectively and efficiently manage assets, the department will aim to refine and provide a multi-year and real-time replacement plan based on the total cost of organizational assets. 2018 also brings goals to explore electric vehicles, as the department continues to pursue environmentally-friendly practices. As technology improves, there are likely use cases within the city where electric vehicles are not only beneficial to green efforts, but financial efficiency as well. The Controller’s Office remains focused on financial transparency and providing excellent service to taxpayers and stakeholders. The new year brings goals to implement
