A MESSAGE FROM

MAYOR FADNESS

MAYOR Scott A. Fadness

I believe that cities can be laboratories for innovation and Fishers Police Department’s new Crimewatch app is a perfect example. Fishers’ residents tend to be tech-savvy

decided to find a way to use that to the advantage of both the Department and the

allow easy reporting of suspicious activity that officers can quickly follow up on. I

JUNE 2016

JUNE 24 - 26 In 1999, a Fishers community tradition began when founders of the Fishers Parade & Festival decided to have a gathering to celebrate Independence Day. With the help of volunteers, the event began as a one-day community picnic and parade with a few games for children. After overwhelming participation by the public, this event grew to a twoday event. Now, almost twenty years later, the event takes over the entire last weekend of June. A new Friday night concert at the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater is an addition to the 2016 Festival.

LIVE - WORK - PLAY Boom Continues in the Nickel Plate District Nickel Plate District redevelopment efforts began in 2012 and now Fishers’ downtown area is more popular than ever. The live-work-play triumvirate has come to life in the past year with the opening of The Depot at Nickel Plate; new businesses like Blubridge Digital, Meyer Najem and CloudOne setting up shop in the area; and increased community-wide programming and events put on by Fishers Parks & Recreation and community partners.

LIVE In addition to the Depot, which is currently leased at 97 percent, residents will soon have the opportunity to call The Switch home. The mixed-used development will open to the public this month. Learn more about residential leasing at flatsatswitch.com.

WORK This summer, Ginovus will join Cloud One and Purdue’s Center for Medication Safety Advancement and Manufacturing Extension Partnership at The Switch. Leasing and construction continue to progress at The Edge, a mixed-use development on the northeast corner of 116th Street and Lantern Road. New tenants will join Community Health Network, Progressive Eye Care and The Well Coffeehouse. Four Day Ray, at Lantern Road and North Street, plans to open its doors in September.

PLAY Opportunities to play abound in the district. In addition to the annual Summer Concert Series, Concerts on the Central Green provide opportunities for those who work in the District to enjoy a mid-week concert each Wednesday between noon and 1 p.m. throughout the summer. Long-time resident favorite, Fishers Farmers Markets continue at the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater complete with live entertainment and the best produce and treats around.
