MILTON JONES: HA!MILTON
A whole new show of daftness. You know it makes sense. This is not a musical. Milton Jones is tone deaf and has no sense of rhythm, but at least he doesn’t make a song and dance about it. He has more important things to discuss. Like giraffes… and there’s a bit about tomatoes. You might know him from Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo or Radio 4. Or that time he stood for the Scottish National Party, fought a hard campaign, but in the end had to respect the wishes of the people of Cardiff.

CHAPTER ONE, Farnborough Common, Locksbottom, Orpington
Overview
Chapter One is situated just off the south circular road, near Farnborough and Bromley and for the last 20 years, has stood out as one of Greater London’s top dining destinations. The multi award winning 3 AA rosette winning restaurant, has been under the ownership of Chef Andrew McCleish and Marcel Faulstich since 2017. The cuisine celebrates the best of both British and European cuisine using seasonal ingredients and can be enjoyed in either the formal restaurant, or the more relaxed brasserie.
Food & Drink
We ordered from the Alacarte menu, To begin, my partner opting for the Dorset snail Bourguignon, which was perfectly cooked, providing mild earthy tones and was served in a garlic Espuma, garlic crouton and parsley. I went for the Lobster Raviolo in lobster and indulgent tasting cognac cream sauce, which paired perfectly. To accompany dishes, we started with the Gerard Tremblay Chablis these, which was clean, crisp and delivered subtle apple and pear notes.
For my main, I went for the roast Scottish salmon with caramelized Aubergine and potato gratin. This was nice and flaky and not in anyway infused or overpowered by the aubergine. My partner went for fallow venison haunch with venison pie and braised red cabbage. The Venison was extremely succulent and lean, with a rich gamey flavour. The dish was not in anyway too heavy but was complimented with the addition of some beautifully cooked green beans in shallot butter. My partner accompanied this with Le Cedre Cahors Vintage Malbec, a full-bodied wine presenting flavours of ripe dark fruits, with an elegant finish. It’s clear from both the quality of all of the dishes and the carefully curated AA noted wine list that a great deal of effort has been put into ensuring a great dining experience.
For dessert I indulged in the Manjari Black forest gateau with chocolate sorbet and white chocolate aero, (pictured). The chocolate cake was pleasantly rich and went superbly with the tangy Cherry sorbet.
My partner had the baked coffee tart with coffee cremeux, and a black jelly brown butter crumb, which had a crisp and buttery texture while the coffee cremeux, was deliciously smooth, without being dense.
Summary
Although rightly thought of as somewhere “special” to go amongst locals of the restaurant and living up to this description, with it’s reasonably priced brasserie with it’s regular events calendar, Chapter One is definitely somewhere you should equally visit for a more relaxed dining experience.

Making Tax Digital
Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax is a key part of the government’s plans to make it easier for individuals and businesses to get their tax right and keep on top of their affairs.
Are you prepared for Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD)?
Making Tax Digital requires businesses to manage their tax affairs with HMRC using compatible software and to keep digital records. This will mean a change to the way individuals manage their tax obligations with HMRC.
From the 6th of April 2026, if you are selfemployed or a landlord and if you have an annual business or property income of more than £50,000, you will need to join MTD. The threshold for joining will be lowered from April 2027 to those who have an annual business or property income of more than £30,000. The threshold will further be extended to those earning above £20,000 at a later date.
All VAT registered businesses are already automatically signed-up for Making Tax Digital. Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax, is the next stage in the Government’s tax modernisation strategy, its core aim is to make it easier for people to manage their tax affairs and submissions to HMRC. They will need to send HMRC quarterly updates of their business income and expenditure. A Final Declaration will
also need to be made, to include other sources of taxable income such as savings and investment income.
At Fairman Keable Accountancy Practice, they are helping their clients prepare for the transition to MTD, with over 90% of their clients already using MTD compatible Xero accountancy software. FAMILY LAW Frequently Asked Questions
QWhat are the grounds for a divorce?
A: Under the no-fault divorce laws in England and Wales, you can get a divorce if:
• You and your spouse have been married for at least a year;
• You satisfy the grounds for divorce – your relationship has irretrievably broken down; and
• Your marriage is legally recognised in the UK.
Q. How long will it take me to get a divorce?
A. For a straightforward divorce, the minimum timeframe is 26 weeks (about 6 months), to the pronouncement of the final divorce order. However, we recommend delaying applying for the Final Order in divorce until after financial matters are resolved by way of a financial remedy order. The timeframe to resolve any disputes in
Sandy Hills - Family Law Solicitor
“For a straightforward divorce, the minimum timeframe is 26 weeks”
relation to finances will vary greatly depending on the complexity of the case. If matters can be agreed amicably, it is possible to deal with the finances alongside and within the minimum 6-month timeframe. However, if Court proceedings are required, it can take up to 12-24 months to run a financial remedy case to conclusion.
Q. My wife/husband has always supported me financially – how will I manage in the event of a divorce?
A. If you have been financially dependent upon your husband or wife throughout the marriage, then you may be eligible for spousal maintenance after the divorce where appropriate. The Court would consider your and your spouses’ incomes and outgoings and then make an order for spousal maintenance if appropriate.
The purpose of spousal maintenance is for a regular payment to be made to the receiving party only in the sum and for the term required to enable that party to adjust to independence without undue hardship. If making an order for spousal maintenance, the Court will only look to meet the receiving party’s reasonable needs, even if this means that the paying party has a greater surplus of income once all payments have been made.
A Court will expect both parties to maximise their income, depending on their circumstances. There is certainly a growing trend that the Court is keen for parties to move forward independently from one another as soon as is reasonably practicable, keeping in mind the needs of any children of the family.
Q. How will our assets be divided?
A. If you cannot agree how to divide your assets yourselves or within a form of non-court dispute resolution, a Court would consider all of the assets of the marriage, including those available now, for example matrimonial home, savings, investments, business interests, etc. They will also consider both your pension provisions. The Court will consider a number of factors such as the length of the marriage, the age of the parties, health, earning capacity of the parties and ages of any children of the marriage.
Q. What is parental responsibility and how do we decide what arrangements are in our child’s best interests?
A. A married mother and father of a child will automatically acquire parental responsibility. This effectively encompasses all the rights, duties, powers, responsibilities, and authority which by law a parent of a child has in relation to the child and his property. If the parties are not married the mother automatically acquires Parental Responsibility. If the father is registered on the child’s birth certificate, then the unmarried father would also acquire automatic parental responsibility for that child. However, if the father is not registered on the birth certificate, then the unmarried father must acquire parental responsibility by entering into an agreement with the mother or by applying to the Court for an Order.
“There is certainly a growing trend that the Court is keen for parties to move forward independently from one another as soon as is reasonably practicable, keeping in mind the needs of any children of the family”
If you are unable to agree the amount of time that your child spends with you and your ex-partner following separation, you could try to negotiate these arrangements yourself through solicitors or attend mediation if this was appropriate. As a last resort, you could apply to Court for a Child Arrangements Order, which would set out the time that your child spends with their parents. When considering an application for a Child Arrangements Order, a Court’s paramount consideration is the welfare of any relevant child. A Court considers many factors including the wishes of the child depending on their age and understanding. The Court will look at the child’s physical, emotional and educational needs and the likely effect on the child of any change in circumstances and how capable each parent is to look after the children.

ROSEMEAD LOOKS AHEAD TO AN EXCITING 2025:
The award-winning prep school celebrates recent success
Rosemead Preparatory School and Nursery is looking forward to an exciting 2025 after winning a number of prestigious national awards in the last 12 months.
Before Christmas, the leading prep school was delighted to reveal it had won an award at the Independent Schools Association (ISA) Awards 2024.
The school, located in the heart of Dulwich, was awarded for Excellence and Innovation in Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion at the ceremony which took place in November at the ISA Autumn Conference in Birmingham.
Speaking about the award, Head Graeme McCafferty explained: ‘The whole school is thrilled to receive this award from the ISA. This recognition reaffirms our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and I couldn’t be prouder of our school’s achievement.
“Our goal is to create a sense of involvement, harmony, unity and
membership”
‘At Rosemead, we are devoted to creating an inclusive, safe environment through quality first teaching and adapting resources. Cooperation and compassion allow our community to thrive. We aim to collaborate with our whole community to broaden our children’s experience and make learning accessible for all. Our goal is to create a sense of involvement, harmony, unity and membership.’
Rudolf Eliott Lockhart, Chief Executive Officer of the Independent Schools Association (ISA), added:
“Once again, the ISA Awards have been a celebration of the innovative approaches to education from across the full range of our diverse membership. The broad selection of represented categories reflects the breadth of accomplishments by our schools; there is the potential for every type of school to excel within them.
‘A place among the finalists, as well as being highly
commended, is a great achievement. This year featured an impressive range of entries, and the final nominees were strong.’
In 2023, the school announced a merger with St Dunstan’s College joining St Dunstan’s Education Group.
St Dunstan’s Group Head, Nick Hewlett, said: ‘The whole community is delighted with this ISA award for Rosemead. The award rightly recognises the outstanding work and ongoing commitment to
equality, diversity and inclusion at the school.
‘Bringing our schools together has been a wonderful opportunity, allowing our staff and students to work closer together, learning from one another and enhancing our students’ educational journeys.’
This is the second prestigious award for Rosemead. Last summer, the school won best Improvements in EDIB (Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging) at the Education Choices Awards. A spokesperson for the Education Choices Awards added: ‘We have been really impressed with the work that schools have been getting up to this year in order to envelop Equality, Diversity and Inclusion into their curriculums and work, and it has been really tough to decide each winner.’
The two awards follow the school’s ISI inspection that took place at the end of 2023, and saw Rosemead become one of the first prep schools in the country to receive a ‘significant strength’ in its findings.
‘A highly customised approach to every pupil’s academic progress is a significant strength of the school,’ the report explained. ‘A customised learning programme in mathematics, English and reasoning caters for pupils in Year 4 and above. This, supported by an extensive enrichment programme and much support for individuals, impacts on all groups of pupils, enabling them to make good and often rapid progress over time.’
Rosemead’s early years’ provision was also praised in the summary findings. ‘Leaders in the early years effectively ensure staff have high expectations of the behaviour and achievement of children,’ the report found. ‘The positive relationships between adults and children in the early years help children settle in quickly and feel safe and happy.’
THE DETAILS

It added: ‘Children in the early years achieve well from their varied starting points. Adults engage with the children effectively and use appropriate questioning to develop children’s vocabulary and understanding. Children from an early age become confident speakers and develop their reading skills well.’
Rosemead was also nominated for Pre-Prep of the Year at the Independent Schools of the Year Awards.

A Truly Magical Experience
Saint Ronan’s School is a traditional co-educational Nursery, Pre-Prep and Prep School for children aged 2 to 13, with a distinguished history and an excellent academic record
It is a family school with an informal and happy atmosphere where staff are approachable and mud unremarkable. Based in Hawkhurst, Saint Ronan’s provides an environment where children can be children; enjoy school, make memories, work hard and have fun.
In September, Joe Lewis and his wife Milly took over the Headship of Saint Ronan’s. “We feel extremely lucky to have taken over a prep school which is thriving. The staff, parents and pupils have been hugely supportive and there is a palpable sense of excitement about the next chapter.”
Joe and Milly have moved, with their four children (Cecily, Posy, Bertie & Laurie), from Millfield in Somerset. Their eldest daughter is at senior school whilst their younger three have joined Saint Ronan’s. Joe says “the next chapter is about evolution not

revolution”, having taken over a school in fine fettle from predecessor William Trelawney Vernon and his wife Emma.
Saint Ronan’s has over 400 pupils aged 2 to 13 and has achieved 57 scholarships over the past 2 years; academic, sport, music, computer science, art & DT and all rounder. Tonbridge, King’s Canterbury, Benenden, Sevenoaks, Harrow, Marlborough, Eastbourne & Eton are just some of the names adorning the Scholarship boards. The school boasts a full orchestra, competes nationally in both girls’ and boys’ sports and has a built a new Science block as well as new Art and Engineering/Design/Technology classrooms in the last 4 years. The ethos of Saint Ronan’s is underpinned by the “Ronian Characteristics”Curiosity, Co-operation, Empathy, Perseverance,
Imagination & Awareness - which are celebrated in every aspect of school life. Joe Lewis would like people to “recognise an Old Ronian by his/her good character, integrity, ability to navigate life in a moral and confident manner with a good dollop of humour.”
Joe is keen to build on the success of his predecessor, “taking over a successful prep school allows no time for complacency. Our families are now having to invest more, financially, than ever and we need to ensure that we are providing the best possible holistic education and pastoral care for their children.” Joe has moved from a Senior School background so has first hand experience of what he is preparing the children for. Joe teaches Year 5 so that he can best advise parents on the most suitable school for their child, and family as a whole. Joe also has Year 8s for lunch in his study to allow them a chance to discuss school life and engage in topical conversations.
School council is made up of a pupil from each year group of the prep school. There are monthly

meetings with Joe, Milly and Ross Andrew (Deputy Head Pastoral) where the children feedback on what is going well, what could be better and any changes or improvements they would like to see. Milly says “When you can say yes, you should. Then when you say no, they know that there’s a good reason”.
The “magic” of Saint Ronan’s is widely spoken of. Allowing children their childhood whilst preparing them thoroughly for Senior School. The school prides itself on allowing pupils to get their fill of the outdoors – climbing trees, the school farm, mountain biking club, so that they are better able to focus on the academic rigour that is provided in the classroom.
The parental body at Saint Ronan’s is loyal and invested in the school’s success. Joe speaks of a “collaborative, communicative relationship: parent, teacher, child. With the child at the centre of all that we do.” Parental events include Supper Club, Autumn and Christmas fairs, Founders Day and Firework Night at which one of the current parents DJd.
Saint Ronan’s is welcoming, on entering the school you can feel the pride those inside have for it and they are keen to make you feel a part of it all. Children chat happily to visitors and staff are eager to share insights about the school and how it works. The family feel, which is so important to Joe and Milly, ensures that every child feels nurtured and supported; able to flourish having been allowed to take risks, build confidence and explore their passions.

PRIVATELY EDUCATED PEOPLE DOMINATE TOP BRITISH JOBS
The study, by the Sutton Trust education charity, shows that virtually every key profession is dominated by privately educated pupils grabbing the senior management/director positions
Their grip on power is most noticeable in the judiciary, where 74 per cent of leading judges (those in the High Court or Court of Appeal) were privately educated.
Figures in the report also show that one in three MPs (32 per cent) was privately educated –as were half the members of the Conservative Cabinet. Even in Jeremy Corbyn’s Shadow Cabinet, 13 per cent of members went to private school. Nationally, the figure is just 7 per cent.
The report, carried out by Dr Philip Kirby, goes on to show that 71 per cent of senior Army officers – two-star generals and above – went to private schools. Only 12 per cent attended comprehensives.
“The higher echelons of journalism are also dominated by the private sector, with 51 per cent educated in independent schools”
In medicine, 61 per cent of doctors were privately educated while 22 per cent went to selective state grammar schools and just 16 per cent to comprehensives. The list goes on – 48 per cent of civil servants were educated privately, 29 per cent went to selective grammar schools and 23 per cent to comprehensives.
The higher echelons of journalism are also dominated by the private sector, with 51 per cent educated in independent schools. And of those chief executives of FTSE 100 companies who were educated in the UK, 34 per cent were privately educated.
Nearly half the top actors – 42 per cent of Bafta Award winners – went to private schools, fuelling criticism that the profession is becoming more elitist.
“Our research shows that your chances of reaching the top in so many areas of British life are so much better if you went to an independent school,” said Sir Peter Lampl, the chairman of the Sutton Trust. “As well as academic achievement, an independent education tends to develop the essential skills such as confidence, articulacy and teamwork, which are vital to career success.

A focus on Kindness & Mental Health
As one of our school values, kindness runs through everything we do at Bickley Park. Our annual Kindness and Mental Health Week is a reminder of our continued focus on fostering care, respect, and emotional well-being throughout our school community. Throughout the week, each of our year groups take part in activities designed to make kindness tangible and meaningful. From sharing the joy of music with the residents of local care homes in Bickley, to developing connections through reading with neighbouring schools.
Our Values
We also spend time understanding Mental Health, removing any stigma felt when discussing this important topic and helping our children to develop the confidence and vocabulary to do so. A wonderful selection of books in our libraries also reflects our commitment to supporting discussions about kindness, friendship, and mental health.
A focus on giving during the week not only supports those in need but also nurtures empathy and compassion —qualities that are vital for children’s mental and emotional growth.
This year, we’d like to say thank you to the incredible generosity of our community, for all the amazing contributions of Advent Calendars for The Purple Pantry and essential items such as water bottles, woolly hats, scarves, and socks for Kent Kindness. It was fantastic to see these donations grow over the week and they have now been distributed to these very worthy causes.
We see examples of showing respect and looking after each other in school everyday and we are proud that our children extend these values way beyond the school gates.
Preparing children to reach their potential Community is very much part of our wellrounded learning experience at Bickley Park which encompasses the Four Quadrants of Learning - Academics, Arts, Community, and Sports and Outdoor Learning.
It is this firm commitment to all-round success which led the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) judging Bickley Park as ‘excellent’ in all areas in March 2023, the highest possible grading for an Independent School.
But don’t just take my word for it – come and see for yourself. I would love to meet you and show you around.

A guide to School Open Days
As we approach the new term, it is now when thoughts turn to Independent School Open Days - allowing you to get a genuine feel for the school and whether on first impressions it is right for your child.
TOP TIPS FOR GETTING THE MOST OUT OF A SCHOOL OPEN DAY…
•Check on the school website if you need to make an appointment prior to visiting
•It is vital that you are prepared so read their school brochures thoroughly
•Take your child with you – their opinion is the most important. Children will get an idea whether they feel comfortable there.
•Talk to as many people as you can: pupils, teachers and the headmaster ideally
•Take an independent walk around with your child and chat about any reservations you might both have.
QUESTIONS TO ASK AT A SCHOOL OPEN DAY….
Some questions will differ according to your child’s age and whether you are visiting a day or boarding school.
•How selective is the school academically and what is the current pass rate for the common entrance exam?
•Are there high expectations and high academic achievements?
•Is the curriculum broad and well balanced? (you want your child to be successful but not too

compelled in pressure)
•What are the classroom sizes?
•What is expected of my child with regard to homework?
•Is there a healthy balance of fun and academia?
•Is there a bullying policy?
•What lunchtime meals are available?
•What sports and music facilities are available?
•What after school clubs and trips are available?
•How many pupils branch out into further education?
After the tour, you may have the opportunity to meet other parents and children on a more informal footing whereby the teachers and the head can answer queries over coffee and biscuits.

New Year fashion resolutions
Here are four ways to revamp your wardrobe for the New Year.
By Lara Owen
As we head into the new year, the pressure to make a cracking resolution is on, but where’s best to start than with your wardrobe?
From forming a signature style to creating your own fashion mantra – fashion tycoons share their no-brainer fashion resolutions to make for 2025.
MASTER THE LAYERING GAME
One of the greatest style resolutions to make in the new year – that I’m sure we’ve made time and time again – is to streamline your wardrobe.
With that, comes the art of mixing and matching to try and cut down on pointless wardrobe pieces.
“It’s all about unexpected combinations,” says Boohoo’s head of product, Sarah Heaton, who suggests mixing relaxed bottoms with elevated tops – such as the trending barrel-leg jean with a chiffon or ruffled blouse.
Luckily, layering always relies on classic and timeless pieces. “We’ll see people leaning into the nostalgic British aesthetic – like trench coats layered over structured blazers and rugby shirts,” says Lounge’s head of product, Emily Blount.
Layering isn’t just for function – it’s a way to create looks that transition seamlessly from day to night. So mixing together contrasting pieces is a great way to spice up your outfits in 2025.
FIND YOUR SIGNATURE SILHOUETTE
Much like 2024, timeless silhouettes will reign supreme in 2025 – but this year, it’s all about tailoring one uniquely to you.
“We’ve always championed tailoring,” explains British fashion designer and founder of Holland Cooper, Jade Holland Cooper. “The perfect blazer, impeccably cut trousers and a timeless trench coat are wardrobe workhorses.”
To find your staple silhouette, looking beyond classically gendered styles is important, as Holland Cooper notes with the resurgence of more masculine designs, “the three-piece suit is having a real moment,” she explains, which could be down to the current Eighties fashion revival.
“It’s sharp, sophisticated and chic – great for the office, but also an empowering ensemble for women in their day-to-day lives.”
Tailoring is also a great opportunity for experimenting to find your true style, “With tailoring being such a key trend, focus on how it works with your body and colouring,” suggests Blount. “A structured dress or waistcoat can bring elegance along with individuality.”
So, whether you’re adopting power dressing or adopting a more fluid style – finding your signature silhouette will help make curating outfits a whole lot easier in 2025.
NOD TO TRENDS
When a trend you love comes about, it can be tempting to go all in and revamp your whole wardrobe. But with overconsumption high on everyone’s radar, 2025 may be the year to nod to a trend through more subtle style statements.
“I tend to opt for classics that will remain in fashion whilst also being the perfect staple to style the key trends of the season,” explains Holland Cooper, who uses the example of a trench coat.
When it comes to trends, “fashion is always subjective,” notes Blount, “and everyone has their own interpretation of the fad.
“The key with any fashion trend is to ensure you’re staying true to your personal style, what you feel comfortable in, and what makes you happy.”
The easiest way to nod to trends is to look at those that already encompass items in your wardrobe – such as favourite colours, certain cuts or particular accessories.
ADOPT A FASHION MANTRA
All the fashion greats have one thing in common: their own fashion mantra.
For fashion designer and podcaster Amanda Wakeley OBE, it’s ‘Don’t save for best, dress your best everyday.’
“We all have those incredible pieces that have been in our wardrobe hardly worn that we keep for ‘special occasions’ and then often the moment passes and we wished we had worn them more,” says Wakeley.
“My view is clothes and accessories, for that matter, are not there to hang in a cupboard, they are there to be worn and loved and lived in. Your wardrobe should be a reflection of you, your values, and your joy. Style isn’t just about looking good – it’s about feeling good in your skin. Wear your best and you’ll likely feel it too.”
“Don’t be afraid to be bold,” says Holland Cooper. “I love bright fabrics and I’m not scared to mix tweeds.
“Power dressing isn’t going anywhere; it’s more than a trend – it’s a movement. The right outfit can change how you feel, as fashion is all about confidence, so wear what makes you feel
“One of the greatest style resolutions to make in the new year is to streamline your wardrobe”
empowered.”
And when it comes to forming your own, focus on what fashion means for you. Whether that’s sustainability, elegance or individuality – take these associations and make it into a memorable soundbite that you repeat every time you put an outfit together.
A personal favourite is ‘dress to express – not impress’ – and that applies to everything from leggings and a jumper to showstopping evening gowns.
OIN THE COUNTRY
Your local store for all outdoor clothing for the whole family, plus shooting accessories, leather goods, dog training equipment, and much more.
wner, Gail Thomas, explains how she got involved in this thriving business based in Badlesmere, just a few miles from Lenham on the Ashford Road.
Gail says: ‘I live at Eastwell Park, where my partner is the head keeper. Originally I was working for a national house builder selling houses but took voluntary redundancy. ‘
‘Enjoying a brief period of being a lady of leisure, I popped into a local shop, the Kent Wool Growers, for a pair of Wellington boots. Whilst there trying on boots, I chatted to the assistant who told me he had just got himself a new job and
would be leaving. He then mentioned that they hadn’t filled the vacancy and that the job would be perfect for me!
And so I ended up working for Kent Wool Growers for 7 years; a great place, very interesting and with great customers, fantastic characters and never a dull moment. This is where I learnt all about clothing, footwear and – most importantly – good customer service.
Chatting to a friend whilst having lunch in my local, I mentioned that I might like to go it alone and open my own shop. She then told me about possible premises that were only a few miles from home! The very next morning I viewed and secured it straight away. So started the ‘In The Country’ venture here in Badlesmere. Over the years I have added to the stock and am proud to say, I offer a fantastic range of clothing, footwear and accessories for men, women and children – oh! And mustn’t forget the dogs!
The shop has become a thriving business and has been open for over 8 years now. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have made and have never regretted it for a moment.’

EXPERTS REVEAL Biggest beauty trends for 2025
Beauty experts delve into their beauty predictions.By Lara Owen
As we step into 2025, it’s clear that trends of the beauty world are getting a face lift.
While some fads vow to continue – such as 2024’s defining blush trend – new buzzwords such as ‘prejuvenation’ promise to bring a fresh face to the industry.
Here are the hotly anticipated beauty trends that experts say to watch out for in 2025.
SKINCARE AND MAKE-UP HYBRIDS
The year 2024 saw tweens and swathes of Gen Z focus more on their skincare routines than ever before. Children as young as eight were putting potent serums and anti-ageing products on their Christmas lists, according to the British Association for Dermatologists.
This – potentially worrying – obsession with skincare among the younger generations has forced make-up brands to pivot, making skincareinfused make-up a leading trend for 2025.
“There is certainly a growing demand for makeup infused with skincare, particularly products that suitable for all ages,” explains Oriflame’s senior marketing director Lydia Smeds. “Consumers are looking for items that simplify their routine without sacrificing performance.”
This comes in the form of SPF-infused foundations, lipstick-nourishing balms and
peptide-pumped BB creams. This dual-purpose approach reflects the broader trend of beauty, where minimalist looks and streamlined product ranges aligns with a desire for practicality.
PREJUVENATION
While skincare-infused make-up is on the rise in 2025, the idea of ‘prejuvenation’ is also expected to be the new beauty buzzword that enters our lexicon.
If 2024 was about “clean girl make-up” (which let the skin speak for itself) then 2025 is the year of “prejuvenation”: a proactive approach to skincare that prioritises long-term investments over quick fixes.
“Prejuvenation will be a strong aesthetic theme for 2025, implementing proactive skin tactics now in order to change the course of skin ageing later on in life,” explains LYMA founder Lucy Goff.
“The emergence of highly advanced energybased solutions that are minimally invasive has been a real driving force,” says Goff, such as at-home laser light therapy and collagen-based serums and supplements.
This prevention tactic to beauty has become widespread, as many have realised that it is easier to prevent something, rather than reverse it.
“Skin is a long-term investment, and huge improvements can be seen by optimising our own cellular processes,” says Goff. So for 2025, expect bathroom cabinets crammed with LED masks and chemical-based creams.
RELAXED BOHEMIAN GLAMOUR
While minimal make-up seems to be on the rise –getting glam will never go out of style.
For 2025, high-end glamour will come in the form of relaxed Bohemian style. “Relaxed glam is a big beauty vibe for 2025,” says Bonded founder Elizabeth Chandler. Think wispy lashes, unkempt brows and Seventies liner. “The perfectly buttoned-up and androgynous [beauty of] 2024 will be replaced with a softer, more feminine and floaty aesthetic in 2025,” she adds.
The Chloé runway brought boho-chic back into the fashion zeitgeist this year, and 2025 will see this trend tipping into the beauty sphere.
Chandler predicts this to appear in long soft waves, an earthy colour palette and eclectic styling – a pivot from the highly-strung “clean girl beauty” of 2024.
“There will be more Seventies and Eighties flavours which means that the natural undone look will run concurrently with the glam palette of the Eighties,” says Chandler. “There is this sense of the Eighties mindset in the air as we shake off the uptight perfection of 2024.”
EIGHTIES GLITTER
While beauty seems to be taking a more relaxed approach in 2025, there’s no denying the impact of the Eighties this coming year. Nostalgia-driven beauty will be making a comeback in the form of playful pigments and loose glitter.
“Soft blush and sheen finishes were huge in 2024,” says Chandler, “reminiscent of 1980s glamour.”
As blush boomed in popularity – leading some on social media to question whether they had ‘blush blindness’ (a term for over-applying blush without realising) – other Eighties make-up staples like loose glitter are predicted to rise the beauty ranks.
Playing off the ‘relaxed bohemian glamour’ trend – loose glitter has a certain nonchalance to it, elevating your make-up look without looking too ‘done’.
TAILOR-MADE BEAUTY
The year 2024 saw the rise in personalisation across the board – and the beauty sphere was no exception.
z“Historically, having something tailor-made to your requirements signalled exclusivity, but what
started with health data tracking has developed into having an intricate knowledge of our bodies and wishing to treat them accordingly,” explains Goff.
Customised beauty products are reaching new heights by the day, with brands like Skin + Me and Klira taking Gen Z by storm this year; bespoke skincare kits are set to be a big trend. Hypertargeted formulas at high-street prices proves personalised luxury is no longer reserved for the 1%.

Padel has already been growing in popularity, and 2025 is set to be the year it really takes over – particularly as back in September, the LTA and LTA Tennis Foundation announced it was investing £6 million into 40 projects, funding 75 new courts around the country.
This racket sport “has a lot of similarities with tennis, including its scoring system and core skillset, which makes it easy to understand”, explains Martyn Oakey, personal trainer and head of fitness at Everlast Gyms, part of Sports Direct.
“However, it is played on a smaller, enclosed court, meaning groups of mixed ages and abilities can play it together, and shots can be played off the walls. Its benefits are similar to tennis, offering competition, as well as a great form of stop/start exercise to help boost your cardio and muscular endurance.”
It’s proving particularly popular “thanks to its social nature” and the fact it’s easily accessible, Oakey suggests: “Once you’ve found your local court, all you need is a racket, a ball and a partner.”
CALLISTHENICS
If you’ve ever seen anyone doing impressive handstands in the gym, there’s a good chance they might be doing callisthenics – a type of body weight conditioning.
“Callisthenics are an ancient form of exercise,
which has recently seen a huge boost in popularity and is expected to continue growing into the new year. Simply put, they refer to a wide range of strength exercises conducted using body weight,” Oakey says.
Luckily, it’s not all as difficult as smashing out a one-armed handstand. In fact, Oakey says: “The barrier to entry is extremely low. You can do most of these exercises in your own home with little to no equipment, or in a gym. They’re also accessible in terms of ability and sometimes used by physios [as part of treatment regimes]. Once you’ve learned the basics for a number of exercises, you can easily incorporate them into your fitness routine and daily schedule.”
Squats, push-ups and planks are all basic callisthenics exercises, and once you’ve mastered them, you can progress to some of the fancier stuff.
HIKING
Not all exercise has to be in the gym. As Carla Khouri, qualified mountain leader and outdoor instructor from the Merrell Hiking Club, says: “The UK is witnessing a hiking renaissance, with the activity poised to become one of 2025’s hottest fitness trends. As urban life grows more intense, people are discovering what generations before them knew: there’s profound value in stepping away from screens and schedules to reconnect with nature.
“Beyond its physical benefits, such as increasing muscular strength and endurance, promoting better balance and flexibility, and improving
cardiovascular health, hiking offers a powerful antidote to modern stress. There is increasing evidence to suggest hiking helps improve low mood and reduce stress and anxiety.”
Khouri suggests one of the best things about hiking is its “simplicity”, adding: “No expensive equipment or gym memberships required, just a willingness to step outside and explore. As more people embrace this natural approach to fitness, they’re not just reaping the benefits of exercise, they’re also feeling a sense of community, adventure, and a renewed connection with the great outdoors.”
OPEN WATER SWIMMING
Hiking isn’t the only outdoor activity set to make waves in 2025. Ramona Cojocaru, head of category at Decathlon UK, suggests that open water swimming – which has been gathering steam, with sales of wetsuits for open water swimming increasing by 44% at Decathlon in the last year – will explode in popularity over the next 12 months.
Put simply, this is “the activity of swimming in anything other than a pool”, explains Cojocaru. “Popular spots include lakes, rivers and the sea, with some lovely locations available along the British coastline.”
As well as all the rewards of being in the great outdoors, there are plenty of physical benefits. “Swimming is a full-body workout that improves circulation and cardiovascular health. There are also benefits such as boosted immunity, recovery and mental health, as open water swimming generally taking place in colder waters,” says Cojocaru.
QUADROBICS
It might have a slightly unusual name, but this trend isn’t as far-fetched as it sounds. Claire Phippen, personal trainer at PureGym Norwich, describes quadrobics as “inspired by natural movement patterns – namely using all four limbs to mimic animal movements”.
This full-body workout might see you jumping on all fours, or even mimicking the gait of certain animals. Not only is it a lot of fun, Phippen says: “This style of training can improve strength, power and functional performance as it engages multiple muscle groups in the body, and promotes better posture and body mechanics.”
ROLLER SKATING
Roller skating hit its stride during the early days of the pandemic, and experts believe it’s going to see another burst in popularity in 2025 – particularly as sales of rollerskates went up by 30% at Decathlon in the last year.
“The activity has a huge following on social media, with over 250 million posts existing on #RollerSkate TikTok, from clips of people dancing to music at events and roller-discos,” says David Martin, mobility commercial leader at Decathlon UK.
“Not only is skating an enjoyable pastime, it’s an effective way to keep fit. The activity is low impact and low-intensity, whilst giving the lower body a good workout through its need for balance and co-ordination.”
From nervous beginners to confident swimmers
Building confidence through swimming at Sevenoaks Leisure Centre
Local families are discovering the life-changing benefits of professional swimming lessons at Sevenoaks Leisure Centre, with a pioneering programme transforming children’s confidence and physical skills. Everyone Active, which operates Sevenoaks Leisure Centre in partnership with Sevenoaks District Council, has established itself as more than just a swimming school – it’s become a cornerstone of community fitness and youth development.
Long-term success stories are emerging from the programme. Adam Jaworski, a local parent, credits the centre’s approach for his son Shane’s remarkable journey. “From his first lessons at just 4 years old, Shane developed a genuine love for swimming,” Jaworski explained. “Now 18, his water confidence and technique are a direct result of the centre’s professional coaching.”
Sue Moore-Fay, another local parent, highlights the social benefits. “Beyond technique, the lessons have given my daughter Vivian a chance to build stamina and make friends outside her school circle,” she said.
“We are a small, loyal team that put our swimmers first,” says Mark Horne, Swimming Coach and Swim Manager at Sevenoaks Leisure Centre. “This allows us to not only know all the children by first name, but also the parents, achieving a family-first approach. It’s completely natural for parents to be nervous for their child to begin swimming lessons but, as not all children learn at the same rate, we adapt our lessons as needed for each child, suggesting one to one sessions if needed.
“Swimming is not only a great form of low impact sport for people with a wide range of conditions, but is one of the most important life skills we can teach children - not only as a very inclusive sport, but as a safety skill which will stay with them for life.”.

ALIGN 4 LIFE SEVENOAKS Redefining Chiropractic Care Through Chiropractic Biophysics
In the realm of wellness and pain management, chiropractic care has long been a favoured approach for many seeking relief from discomfort and improved health.
However, not all chiropractic clinics are created equal. Align 4 Life Sevenoaks stands out in this field by embracing a revolutionary methodology that sets it apart from traditional chiropractic practices: Chiropractic Biophysics (CBP).
Unlike conventional chiropractic care, which often emphasizes symptomatic relief through manual adjustments, Align 4 Life Sevenoaks focuses on the structural alignment of the spine and body. CBP is a sophisticated and research-driven technique that utilises the principles of physics to restore the spine’s natural curvature. This approach aims to correct postural imbalances and enhance the body’s innate healing abilities, leading to long-term health benefits rather than just temporary relief.
One of the key differentiators of Align 4 Life Sevenoaks is its commitment to individualized treatment. Each patient undergoes a thorough assessment that includes a detailed analysis of their posture, spinal alignment, and overall health history. This comprehensive evaluation enables the practitioners to tailor treatments specifically to the patient’s needs and a higher likelihood of achieving optimal results.
Additionally, our clinic integrates advanced technologies into its treatments, such as digital X-rays and posture analysis tools. These cuttingedge resources provide invaluable insights into
the patient’s condition and progress, allowing for ongoing adjustments to their treatment plan as needed. This data-driven approach not only enhances the effectiveness of care but also empowers patients by involving them in their healing journey, making them active participants in their health.
In essence, Align 4 Life Sevenoaks is not just a chiropractic clinic; it is a health and wellness centre dedicated to transformative care through Chiropractic Biophysics. By focusing on structural correction, personalized treatment, advanced technology, and patient education, the clinic is leading the charge in a new era of chiropractic care—one that emphasizes lasting health and vitality over temporary fixes.
For those seeking a holistic approach to their health, we look forward to welcoming you to Align 4 Life Sevenoaks, offering you a refreshing alternative that prioritizes the body’s intrinsic ability to heal and thrive.

MAKE-UP TRENDS THAT WENT VIRAL IN 2024
Here are this year’s beauty hacks that are actually worth testing. By Lara Owen
The year 2024 saw a wave of beauty trends, from excessive blush to skinny brows, and some were certainly more popular than others. When it came to application, makeup enthusiasts flooded social media with so-called ‘hacks’, claiming to be the secret to perfecting flawless glam. While some were more memorable than others, beauty experts delve into 2024’s viral makeup trends that are actually worth taking into the new year.
LOW-CONTRAST MAKE-UP
“Low-contrast make-up” went viral on TikTok when creators began questioning how the contrast between your hair, eyes and skin tone affects the way your make-up looks. This trend revolves around maintaining a low-contrast, where each element of your make-up seamlessly blends together, rather than allowing any single feature to dominate. The result? An arguably effortlessly chic finish. French make-up artist, Alieenor, has been instrumental in popularising this approach, sharing a series TikTok videos that explore the concept of “finding your contrast”. To demystify the process, she developed a filter to help users determine their contrast level. By selecting your skin tone and comparing it against low, medium or high-contrast examples, you can uncover the ideal balance for a polished yet natural look.
BLUSH CONTOURING
Blush certainly had its moment in 2024, thanks to singer Sabrina Carpenter and the Eighties revival, social media went mad for rosy cheeks. Whilst ‘blush blindness’ also went viral – and not necessarily for good reason – people began to look for the best ways to properly apply blush. “Blush contouring gives a swept look drawing
the attention away from the centre of the face,” explains lash technician and founder of bonded, Elizabeth Chandler. “Colouring from the top of the jawbone to the temple gives a more groomed squared-off look instead of a rounded shape,” explains Chandler. Blush contouring soon became the go-to hack, where you hold your thumb and index finger in an ‘L’ shape and hold it in line with the outer edge of your nose, facing inwards. It’s the negative space between your hand and your face that creates the perfect position to apply blush for a healthy and lifted look.
LASH CURLER HACK
While eyelash curlers work wonders immediately after use, sometimes you can find your lashes fall flat just an hour later. The hack that went viral this year was the use of eyeshadow primer to keep that curl in place. The method included curling your eyelashes as normal with your curler, then taking an eyeshadow primer on a small brush and applying it to your lashes. Following this up with mascara then means your lashes will stay put all day long. However, Chandler warns about the consequences of this method over prolonged periods of time. “Anything that clogs the follicle is ultimately bad, so full removal of mascara is absolutely key,” she explains. “Any powders followed by liquid can introduce bacteria which can cause infection.” If you find your lashes need a break from that extra lift, Chandler says to “keep things simple and use tubing mascara and nontoxic products”.

‘Mocha Mousse’
Experts predict this organic hue to be popular this year. By
Lara Owen
Pantone has announced its Colour of the Year for 2025 as ‘Mocha Mousse’ – a more pared-back take on 2024’s ‘Peach Fuzz.’ Established in 1999, every year the Pantone Colour Institute assembles a panel of experts to examine global trends across entertainment, art, travel, fashion, and technology. They collaboratively choose a colour that they believe captures the spirit of the times and will resonate globally in the year ahead. This year, they opted for a light shade of brown, as Pantone Colour Institute’s executive director Leatrice Eiseman notes, “[Mocha Mousse] reaches into our desire for comfort and wellness, and the indulgence of simple pleasures.”
Sophisticated yet unpretentious, the tone is inspired by our humble surroundings. “This softer, earthy-toned shade of brown evokes a feeling of comfort and stability, maybe due to the fact that that we associate this hue with the natural world,” says Cliff Bashforth, managing director of Colour Me Beautiful Europe.
Bouncing off the chocolate brown and burgundy trend this season, ‘Mocha Mousse’ seems like the perfect choice for moving into the new year. This lighter, whipped update on a classic is arguably even easier to style throughout the seasons.
The ‘it’ shade for 2025 has already been sported on red carpets by celebs such as Rita Ora, who wore the hue in the form of a feathered Ashi Studio couture gown at the EMAs in November. With ‘quiet luxury’ and ‘country club chic’ being some of 2024’s biggest fashion trends, the light brown hue is perfectly placed to style the wax jackets, riding boots and Argyle knits that are currently trending.
“As it’s a neutral shade, Mocha Mousse can be both versatile, understated and stylish,” explains Bashforth. “As outerwear for autumn and winter – trench coats, leather or suede jackets and gilets work well.”
The colour plays into the current fashion mantra
of investing in timeless classics – as the neutral shade is a perfect base for pairing with bright accents or complimentary hues.
“The general public may gravitate toward investing in high-quality, long-lasting pieces in this totally wearable colour as they become more environmentally conscious,” says Bashforth. “Buying less and wearing more is definitely the way forward!”
The colours to pair with this earthy neutral are endless – but choosing which ones to integrate into your wardrobe depends on your hair and skin tone.
If you have light skin and eyes and are perhaps naturally blonde, “opt for colours such as aqua, sky blue, ivory or dusty rose”, says Bashforth.
For those with darker hair and eyes, “team with burgundy, scarlet, lime green or turquoise”.
If you have warmer undertones, Bashforth suggests balancing the Mocha Mousse with apricot, mustard, orange or terracotta. For those with cooler undertones, he suggests pairing it with blue-based hues such as sky blue, plum, hot pink or raspberry.
HOUSE & GARDEN
2024 Interiors round-up
If 2024 stood for one thing, it was actually two things: utterly mouth-watering, jawdropping quality – not a stitch sewn out of place, pieces crafted from materials that are and the peak of top quality – and the confident ability to place items in our home knowing we’ll love them for a lifetime, but that not everyone will feel the sameThis year we’ve selected the finest, couldn’t-possibly-be-better representations of our style pieces that speaks to our souls – designs which are very much not-like-your- neighbours’ –a luxury that’s not just visually stunning, but profoundly personal.
In the final chapters of 2024, the essence of sincere, one-of-a-kind design hovers all around, setting the tone for a future defined by thoughtful curation and unageing grace. Here, we discuss the year’s standout pieces that narrate the aesthetics carrying us gracefully into the next era of interiors.
BEST IN LOUNGING - DS-888 Sofa, DeSede
A stand out piece from the year which exemplifies this refined, thoughtful, enduring-yet- creative mood, is the Collina sofa by de Sede Design-Team and Atelier Oï. Both proudly function-focused
and a bold sculptural statement, the sofa is designed to fit into lively and dynamic homes, its innovative back rest segments able to move in all directions thanks to a newly developed patented design, meaning one moment you could be sitting facing the television, the next out of the window, the next ready for an intimate talk. Take it upholstered in Nougat, Sand, Teak or Whisky if the last 12 months has revealed your love of neutrals, or in a brighter RAL colour if it’s unleashed your wild side.
BEST IN DINING - Napoleon Keramik,
Cattelan Italia
Innovative technology meets one of our oldest yet most enduring materials in the Napoleon Keramik table. At the height of cutting-edge ceramic technology, it’s made with a previously unseen advanced modelling technique which makes design more flexible than ever. The material then seamlessly takes on the appearance of natural marble, in a selection of different finishes – such as the matt Invisible ceramic which is akin to a classic white marble with grey veins, the black with gold-veined Marmi matt Portoro ceramic and the soothing, gently swirling grey Colosseo, all in a range of interchangeable tabletop shapes (from oval and various rectangles to the asymmetric Polygon)
BEST IN SLEEPING - ARCHIBALD BED, Poltrona
Frau
Nothing says I-walk-to-my-own-tune than a statement, directional, curiosity-piquing piece. The Archibald Bed doesn’t really feel like a bed. The characterful headboard folding around like the edges of paper or a gently curling leaf, it’s further enhanced by soft drapery that runs across its luxurious leather upholstery. Simultaneously familiar, safe, and inviting, it effortlessly combines design-led sophistication with chic elegance.
BEST IN LIGHTING - DOME LIGHT,
Brokis
There’s something enchanting about the organic, free flowing nature of glass – so when it’s shaped into linear or geometric forms, our brains spark and stir. The Dome Light nods to classical Roman architecture and the sweeping curves of Venice in smooth or rippled glass, its angles precise and perfect as if ready to be built into a dreamlike glowing cityscape. This rigid structure is softened
by the piece’s function – the light it emits is gentle and cast down through a diffuser, transforming the strict measurements into something more bewitching and transfixing.
BEST IN ACCESSORIES - LINES RUG, GAN
In a year zooming in on quality that’s the best of the best, a tribute to merino wool is satisfyingly fitting. Mayice Studio’s Lines collection for GAN is a sensory experience, inspired by the importance of touch and the thrill in the authenticity of the natural. The long-pile rugs come in the undyed woollen tones of White, Brown, Grey, Charcoal, and are a fusion of a direct connection to nature and a heavy dose of a minimal, contemporary style – however did our floors and feet and feelings cope without it? chaplins.co.uk

Notes from Nonna’s Kitchen
Don’t we all sort of wish we had a Nonna?
That ridiculously charming vision of an Italian granny, scooping handmade orecchiette pasta at the cucina table with her lace pinny on. Good news: this latest tile collection from the Studio at Ca’ Pietra is giving Nonna, big time. We might not be able to deliver you a Grazia (the name of our very own Head of Creative’s, Grazzie’s Nonna), but this is the next best thing, whisking you off to the cypress tree-studded Italian countryside, one tile at a time.
THE NONNA’S KITCHEN COLLECTION: MEET THE TILES
Ten tiles. All destined for your walls. Each one as charming as the other. That’s Nonna’s Kitchen for you in a nutshell. First up, we’ve got the florals.
The Classica tiles are all hand painted in the UK in aquintessentially provincial Italian palette – blue and white. There are three floral designs and one left largely plain (save for the delicate foliage corners) that can be combined on one wall
inwhatever way you please. Though, all white with then a gathering of florals in the centre like a piece of art is a characterful way to go about things in a rustic country kitchen – wooden pot hanger and all. Sorrento is far jazzier and takes you to Nonna’s lemon grove. Pick between a buttermilk backdrop or a blue sky day, and if you really want to go big on the rustic Italian kitchen feel, go for a whole wall in them – in a pantry with vintage pine shelving in front looks so great.
Nuvola has more of a playful feel to it with the two pastel colourways to pick between, each with a cloud effect and two colours of falling fruit. It’s a dreamy way of depicting sunset and sunrise skies and abundant Italian harvests all year round. Imagine those behind your stove.
And finally, Cornelia and Floreale that take a pure white glazed tile with decorative foliage and gentle colour. A whole kitchen in these with coloured cabinetry or exposed timber will bring you your very own la dolce vita.
THE TALE BEHIND THE TILES
For one of our first collections to come out of Studio, we wanted to create a collection that transported you to someplace else – somewhere nostalgic, somewhere comforting, some place that breathes good food into the heart of your home before you’ve even got out the chopping board.
Who better to do just that than the Italian Nonna you never had – or maybe you’re the lucky
“For one of our first collections to come out of Studio, we wanted to create a collection that transported you to someplace else”
sort who did and perhaps still do. It’s no secret that the Italian home kitchen is a special place. In recent years there’s been much written and brought to our television screens via various cooking shows featuring the wisdom and wonder of Italian pasta grannies, hand-making every shape and every sauce you could imagine. The kitchens we see them in are full of stories, tiles that are decorative but not fussy and that sit back against the farmhouse kitchen table and antique cabinetry that have been in the multi-generational family home for decades. It’s that very scene that we had in mind when designing the collection. You might not have olive branches extending outside your window, but the soul of the Italian kitchen can still be brought into homes far and wide. From country cottages to period townhouses in the city, these are tiles that will live their days richly, encouraging you to bring in fresh cut flowers and fruit from the market in their crumpled brown paper bags, to always keep the fridge full for whoever descends, to cook fine fare with family and friends and to live the good life in the heart of your home. “There’s an old Italian saying A tavola non s’invecchia that translates as: at the table, one does not grow old,” says our head of creative, Grazzie. “The notion of spending hours over proper food and that never ever being wasted is something we really had in mind when designing these tiles. But they don’t have to stay in the kitchen, remember: they translate to all parts of the home – imagine Nonna’s Classica around the fire, a shower enclosure tiled in Sorrento or Nuvola or a bathroom wall in pretty Cornelia. THE FIRST OF ITS KIND The Sancturary Project
The installation of this round, composite plunge pool was a pioneering event in the UK, as it was the first of its kind, originally manufactured in Australia. The spa-like design was essential in completely transforming a dull outdoor patio, modernizing the space to integrate seamlessly with the house. The eye-catching raised round pool is a standout element, while still leaving ample room for other Mauritian-inspired tiling adds a ‘wow’ factor that complements the softer, organic aesthetic. Additionally, some beautifully curved strip lighting was incorporated to enhance the ambiance during the homeowners’ social gatherings.
This pool deserves recognition due to its exceptional versatility in catering to diverse needs. The name “infinity” reflects the endless possibilities and customization options it offers. It can seamlessly transform into a hot tub, a traditional pool, or a cold plunge pool. The number of jets can be tailored to individual preferences, and the pool can be fully submerged or partially above ground, allowing for maximum flexibility and accommodation access restriction.
This pool is designed to accommodate everyone’s needs. It serves as an excellent focal point in a large
garden, can be placed alongside a larger pool, or can enhance the functionality and aesthetic appeal of even the smallest of gardens.
Some key features of this infinity pool include:
• A 400mm wide bench seat that runs around the entire perimeter, perfect for social gatherings or relaxation
• A step for easy entry and exit
• A 200mm edgebeam that provides enhanced structural strength, enabling partial above-ground installation
• 8 water jets and 8 air jets for a complete hydrotherapy experience, with endless customization possibilities
• Optimum water flow and highly efficient filtration
• A softer, organic design that seamlessly blends with the surrounding landscape
“I didn’t think that the spa would look this good and in keeping with my already set in stone vision. The Infinity was very much a last minute add in to my renovation and I am very happy that I made the decision. My Daughters love the spa, and we now have something we can use all year round, which requires minimal maintenance, and being a busy family, it’s nice to now have something that will allow us to all wind down and relax.”

TOM RAFFIELD LIGHTING
Set to launch on the 17th of January 2024, the Shoal Lighting Range includes a sculptural pendant, chandelier, and floor light, all designed to evoke a sense of serenity and unity, inspired by the graceful, fluid motion of schools of fish swimming together.

Pure Table Top launches PurerHome and its first collaboration with the Eden Project
Pure Table Top is thrilled to announce the launch of PurerHome, its new brand on a mission to be the catalyst for regenerative change across the homeware industry. The first step in the launch is a collection of tableware and kitchen textiles in partnership with the Eden Project, created to align with its charitable mission to inspire positive action for the planet.
Together, PurerHome and the Eden Project want consumers to gain a deeper understanding of the world and how together, as a society, our actions can make a positive difference.
They want to inspire consumers to buy better products, designed to last longer.
Striving to spark change across the housewares industry, and beyond, a percentage of every sale of a PurerHome X Eden Project product will support the Eden Project and its charitable initiatives, from habitat regeneration across the UK to social prescribing and connecting people with nature.
Introducing the Digital Product Passport
A first for housewares, each item in the PurerHome x Eden Project collection will be accompanied by its very own Digital Product Passport (DPP) which documents every step of its supply chain journey. Working with industryleading partners Fabacus and Dayrize, the new DPPs have collated a whole world of product information that can be accessed via the QR code on the 100% recyclable packaging.
Pure Table Top has been on a journey with its long-standing suppliers, exploring every step that goes into making these products with a view to deepening the connection between consumers and the items they choose, allowing them to better understand the impact of each product’s journey, whilst also increasing transparency.
The Purer Home x Eden Project collection
Inspired by the Mediterranean Biome at Eden Project, the PurerHome X Eden Project collection offers a new range of tableware and kitchen textiles reminiscent of summers on the continent. A feast for the senses, the collection celebrates all that the natural world has to offer, reconnecting people with nature and each other. A love letter to the Mediterranean’s crops and cultivation, the collection shines a spotlight on the sights, colours and scents making the Biome’s beautiful produce the hero of the story.
Hand-drawn illustrations of the tomato vines, gnarled olive branches and vibrant chilli peppers grown in the Biome itself all come together to create a sophisticated yet playful look for the home, harbouring a true sense of nature and creating connection around the table, not only with each other, but with the natural world.
Lucie Taff, Head of Brands and Marketing at Pure Table Top, comments: “Working on new brand PurerHome has been an exciting development in our sustainability journey and our commitment as a business to use our work as a force for good. Our launch collaboration with the Eden Project is the exciting first step to help us create a conscious collection that builds
relationships between people and the natural world and helps us to consider the environmental impact of our purchasing decisions.”
Every item in the collection brings a grounding touch of earthy colour and an organic feeling of nature into the home. Expertly designed in the UK, the brand-new dinnerware collection is crafted from a long-lasting, durable, natural stoneware, made up of 40% recycled ceramic material.
Each piece has been individually hand glazed, on dinnerware shapes that have been designed and developed by hand, inspired by organic forms with a subtle texture that evokes a sense of being close to the natural world. The 40% recycled ceramic dinnerware, serveware and mugs are certified by the Global Recycled Standard (GRS).
The kitchen textiles, comprising of napkins, tea towels, aprons and oven gloves, feature handpainted crops and embroidered detailing in an earthy colour palette, all digitally printed onto 100% recycled cotton fabric.
All items in the collection are presented in FSC certified or recycled card packaging.

CHOICE, QUALITY & DESIGN
Want to enhance your bathroom space but finding the compact area hard to work with? Fear not, as there are plenty of ways to utilise smaller bathrooms, including everything you need to make the room appear larger.
Taking advantage of things like natural light, corners and clever storage is important and will help your compact bathroom to feel less restricted. There are ways to make the small space feel bigger without having to spend a fortune on knocking down your wall to fit a new window.
One of these is to create an illusion of space, install mirrors onto your bathroom wall, as this will reflect light well creating the effect of an open window. In addition to this if you are looking to open up the space in your bathroom, go for a mirror that is back lit, at the same time helping to create a minimalistic vibe in your bathroom.
One of the reasons why small bathrooms can feel even smaller is the lack of storage. If you own a wide array of bathroom essentials (such as skincare products, hair products and oral products), consider investing in a shelf to hold all your soaps and bottles. While it might be the obvious choice to go with shower curtains, sometimes traditional isn’t always better. To make your bathroom space feel more open, consider forgoing the curtains and choose a clear glass screen to separate your shower area from the rest.
Instead of separating tile patterns for your bathroom floor and your shower, use a consistent tile type to tile your floor, as having unbroken patterns creates a greater perception of depth, making your bathroom feel more spacious.
Your bathroom is a precious and private space, and chances are, you are going to spend a significant amount of time in it, so why not invest in building it up to look exactly the way you want it? You don’t need a mansion to make a masterpiece, and we hope that our tips have guided you in working with whatever limited space you have, to create the stylish space you always wanted.
If you are looking for more inspiration to create that tranquil bathroom space, you’ll find plenty of superb design ideas for small bathrooms (and even large ones) at our Eltham and Biggin Hill showrooms.

The 60-30-10 Design Rule
“The 60-30-10 design rule is such a simple yet effective way to create balance and cohesion in a room. It works by breaking the colour palette into 60% for the dominant colour, 30% for a secondary colour and 10% for an accent. I find this approach helps to build layers of interest and create a warm, inviting feel.”
“For me, this rule isn’t about bold contrasts but about creating harmony. I tend to lean towards
“What
I love most about the 60-30-10 rule is its versatility. It gives you a framework to build from while allowing room for creativity and individuality”
soft, natural tones for the 60%, like warm neutrals or earthy shades, which provide a calm and grounding base. The 30% might be introduced through natural materials, such as wood, stone or linen, which add texture and depth. For the final 10%, I love bringing in handcrafted details, whether that’s a piece of artisan pottery, a vintage find or soft furnishings in complementary tones.”
“What I love most about the 60-30-10 rule is its versatility. It gives you a framework to build from while allowing room for creativity and individuality. It’s less about sticking to strict percentages and more about finding a balance that feels right for the space and the people who live there.” clairegarner.com
