Ever wondered what your favourite house tune would sound like being performed live by a 32-piece orchestra and incredible vocalists? Well, here’s your chance to find out! You can now join Classic Ibiza’s 55,000 social media followers to vote for the track you most want the Urban Soul Orchestra to play at Hatfield House on Saturday 17 August. The five most-popular tracks will be added to this summer’s orchestral set of over 40 dance anthems.
Classic Ibiza’s Lisa Ward comments: “Choosing the tracks to be reinvented and performed live by Stephen Hussey’s Urban Soul Orchestra every summer is one of the highlights of organising Classic Ibiza. We just love sharing the fun with our amazing Hatfield audience.”
From the suggestions posted on Classic Ibiza’s social channels, a shortlist of 10 tracks will be published on Good Friday (29 March), with a final round of audience voting open until Easter Monday (31 March). The five winning tracks will then be announced on Monday 8 April.
Last year’s poll saw over 5,000 votes being cast, with these five tracks being added to the set: Silence (Delerium, Tiësto, Sarah McLachlan), King of My Castle (Wamdue Project, Roy Malone), Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) (C&C Music Factory), On a Ragga Tip (SL2) and
“Last year’s poll saw over 5,000 votes being cast”
Need You (100%) (Duke Dumont, A*M*E).
Lisa Ward adds: “We’re especially looking for big tunes that will suit that special orchestral treatment. Think strings, horns, keys and of course infectious beats and vocals. And don’t worry, Insomnia and Born Slippy are pretty much a permanent fixture of our set every year, so please don’t waste your vote!”
The general rule at Classic Ibiza is that the BPM goes up as the sun goes down. The evening starts at 5pm with a vibe straight from one of Ibiza’s iconic beachside bars, before building to a magical alfresco nightclub by the time the concert finishes at 10.30pm. Headlining the event is the Urban Soul Orchestra, known for working alongside dance music greats like Groove Armada, Robert Miles and Nightmares On Wax. They’ll be delving into house music’s rich catalogue with DJ Goldierocks, reinventing the most iconic tracks from the last 30 years. Along the way, highlights include a DJ set by former Pacha Ibiza resident Jose Luis and an aweinspiring laser and light show.
Classic Ibiza at Hatfield House is proud to be supporting Herts Young Homeless (hyh) to help raise funds for the outstanding work it does in Hertfordshire.

The International MozART Group is coming to the UK this April - and for one night only, they’re in Hertfordshire!
With more than 5 million tickets sold in 50+ counties, the string quartet has more than just a smattering of humour interwoven amongst the horsehair of their bows. Hysterical, even if you don’t know your Mozart from your Bach, but exquisitely performed if you do!
In order to better understand the performance and genre the MozART group has represented since 1995, it is good to start with what the gentlemen have said some years ago:
“We exist despite the sober formality of great concert halls, despite the boredom of classical musicians’ life, despite fanatic lovers of classical music, despite fans of rock, rap or pop who are afraid of classical music. We treat our Muse with a humorous irony and we’re sure, she will have nothing against it!” - MozART Group.
From exquisitely performed football chants, to Elton John’s Crocodile Rock and all the way through to an interesting reenactment of a Violin catching its muse cheating with a Cello, yep you read that right. The MozART Group promises beautifully played classical music with an hilarious twist, and something you have never seen before.
All four gentlemen of the MozART group are well educated instrumentalists who graduated from prestigious Academies of Music in Warsaw
and Łódz, but they decided to play classical music in a humorous way. Filip Jaślar, Michał Sikorski, Paweł Kowaluk, Bolesław Błaszczyk and former cellist and founding member Artur Renion created a worldwide unique musical cabaret, where the music, not the words are the source of joy and laughter.
The musicians of the MozART group have been playing together since 1995. At the beginning, they presented short musical jokes on Canal Plus Television and gave their first debut in 1997 at the PAKA competition of young Polish cabarets in Krakow. In the same year, they presented their first cabaret program entitled “Mozart’s still alive” and since then, they have played concerts in all of Europe, Canada, the U.S.A and Asia.
The MozART group are frequent TV guests including international galas and concerts. The quartet received prestigious prizes like the Grand Prix of the XVIII Festival of Satire and Comedy in Lidzbark, The special prize from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Poland for outstanding achievements and 15 years on stage and all three main prizes at the 10th “Festival des Artes Burlesques” in St.Etienne/France: the Grand Prix of the Jury, the Audience Award and the Press Award. And that’s just the beginning!
FANS OF THE MOZART GROUP HAVE SAID:
“I think it is wonderful when very talented musicians make music fun. It just puts their talent and the music at a totally different level. We all have heard and enjoyed the original pieces in their entirety with a full orchestra. But presenting those same iconic pieces as a backdrop for a little fun and enjoyment makes it so much better. These guys are great.”
“BRAVO! Magnificent!
Love the music...the musicality...the humor... the musicianship of each gentleman...Splendid!”
“Coolest, most original comedy I’ve seen in some years. Bravo & well done!”
“I laughed and laughed every single minute, from the start to the end...These guys are real medicine for the soul…”
So if you’re looking for a hilariously funny yet beautifully performed world class show, we think you’ve found what you’re after.

Neighbourhood gastropub The Silver Cup in Harpenden has earned another award to add to its growing list of accolades, making it onto The Good Food Guide’s list of Britain’s 100 Best Local Restaurants 2023.
The prestigious Best Local Restaurant list celebrates the places that are the beating heart of communities around Britain. Using reader nominations as a driving force, The Good Food Guide team inspected a great number of restaurants in Central and East England to decide which ones deserved a place in the 100 Best Local Restaurants 2023. Some are old favourites, others are new to The Good Food Guide, all are brilliant places to eat.
The Silver Cup is continuing to gather acclaim for its imaginative menus, standout flavours and its warm and welcoming atmosphere. Independently owned and led by Michael Singleton and chef Matthew Reeder, the pair took over in spring 2020 and transformed the 19th century pub into a contemporary dining space, with a regularly changing set menu and a well-balanced wine selection, stylish interior and newly refurbished outside terrace.
Michael Singleton said: “We are thrilled to be on the list of 100 best local restaurants, especially as we were nominated by public vote and by those that love dining here. We have a fantastic

local following in Harpenden, where we feel there’s nothing quite like the dining experience we’re offering. Word is now spreading beyond Hertfordshire, with regular visitors from London who are keen to come and experience our highlypraised set menu, Sunday roasts and steak nights.”
Head chef Matthew Reeder has worked in the kitchens of top restaurants like Auberge du Lac, The Typing Room, The Galvin Brothers and Anglo in Farringdon where he was head chef. His superb seven-course tasting menu (£70) changes regularly and showcases the best seasonal ingredients. Current dishes include: Scallop, Sea Bass, Ponzu & Avocado; Cornish Sean Bream, Courgette, Octopus & Piccolo; Herdwick Lamb, Tenderstem, Anchovy & Mint; Jam, Toast & Earl Grey.
Matthew is a fan of nose-to-tail cooking, buying whole animals and butchering them in-house, using local produce sourced from UK farms and estates. Fish and seafood is sourced as sustainably as possible, including hand-dived or picked scallops and oysters. The team make all their own bread, stock, and ice creams and they preserve the best fruit and vegetables by fermenting, pickling and curing to keep waste to a minimum.

Aston Martin boldly presents a bloodline born for the racing line, with the unprecedented unveiling of three cars on the same day, representing the racing heart of the British ultra-luxury manufacturer and its commitment to integrating motorsport technologies in its highperformance cars for the road.
AMR24 Formula 1® challenger first touched the tarmac at the home of British motorsport, the new Vantage is the quintessential Aston Martin sports car and the most driver focused and fastest Vantage in the nameplate’s history. Having been introduced in the year of the first World Championship Formula One race at Silverstone in 1950, the 74-year history of Vantage runs sideby-side with that of the famous circuit that Aston
Martin’s team now calls home at the cutting-edge AMR Technology Campus.
Engineered for real drivers, Vantage’s authentic, unadulterated celebration of pure performance, technically crafted to deliver maximum thrills with maximum confidence, sits naturally alongside the marque’s visceral challenger for the 2024 FIA Formula One World Championship™.
Both cars represent Aston Martin’s ambition to be a leader in high-performance technologies and on track, with the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team seeking to build on its best-ever season in 2023, claiming nine podiums and 280 Championship points under the expert control of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll.
Between these two weapons of road and track sits the Vantage GT3 racer, inspired by the
“ Both cars represent Aston Martin’s ambition to be a leader in high-performance technologies and on track”
production sports car whose famous name it shall boldly carry to some of the world’s most prestigious endurance events including the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024.
The Vantage GT3 takes the supreme qualities of the new production model and evolves it into a formidable new GT racer that will write a new chapter in Aston Martin’s illustrious motorsport history, having scored a remarkable 52 class wins and 11 world titles between 2012 and 2023 with the ultra-successful Vantage GTE.
also highlights the burgeoning relationship between our road and race programmes, with Aston Martin Lagonda now benefitting from the exceptional pool of engineering talent, experience and knowledge forged in Formula One and harvested through Aston Martin Performance Technologies.
Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of Aston Martin said: “These three brothers in speed embroider our DNA with new dynamism. Simultaneously revealing the new Vantage and Vantage GT3 race car on the very same day as we unleash our AMR24 Formula One challenger at Silverstone demonstrates our ambition to be a leading force in F1 and create the world’s finest and most thrilling sports cars.
“Today’s celebration of high-performance
“Over recent years we have already seen the sport of Formula 1 have a transformative impact on our brand, attracting new customers to Aston Martin and driving reappraisal of our products. Boosted by a highly competitive F1 team, the synergy with high-performance motorsport technologies is something we can maximise even further through our next generation of sportscars and endurance motorsport strategy.”

St Albans has loads to do at at Eastertime and as home to the Alban Bun – the original Hot Cross Bun – it’s the perfect time to make the most of what’s on and have some fun!
There’s lots happening at St Albans Cathedral. For over 700 years the Alban Bun has been part of the Easter tradition at the Cathedral, and you can savour your own in Abbot’s Kitchen created from the original 14th century recipe. The Palm Sunday procession is a fun event where crowds wave palm leaves as they walk from the Clock Tower to the Cathedral alongside a donkey recalling Jesus’ journey into Jerusalem. Download the Easter programme at stalbanscathedral.org
A free family-friendly trail, Hunt for the Easterlopers, is a brilliant activity the kids will be “hoppy” to try (29 March – 14 April). All you need is a mobile phone to scan QR codes to track down the missing Easter Bunny. Find 10 magical eggs in city centre shops to reveal Super Dinosaurs to help your search. Reveal the Easter Bunny and download a FREE Puzzle Pack. Organise by St Albans BID.
For incredible views of the city, it’s well worth climbing St Albans Clock Tower. Completed by 1405, it is the only surviving medieval belfry in England and those who dare to climb the narrow, winding staircase of 93 steps are duly rewarded!
Enjoy bells, levers and hands-on exhibits at St Albans South Signal Box. Set in gardens adjacent to the main railway line learn the fascinating history of this beautifully preserved Midland Railway signal box and enjoy refreshments and browse for gifts.
The city boasts loads of green spaces whether you feel like a leisurely stroll, to play a ball game, or

take the dog for a walk. Pick from firm favourites Clarence Park, Verulamium Park and Highfield Park or venture to Nomansland Common and Heartwood Forest. Plus, there are lots of walks and trails in around the city to be explored.
Easter is a time for treats and recently opened Mr Simms sweet shop in The Maltings shopping centre is sure to get your tastebuds tingling. Choose from retro sweets and handmade chocolate or pick n mix for moments of sweet indulgence.

Enormous new monkey habitat to open at the UK’s largest zoo Opening Friday 29 March
The UK’s largest Zoo isn’t monkeying around this Easter, as Whipsnade Zoo promises to transport visitors to the forests of southeast Asia– with the unveiling of Monkey Forest.
It will be the first time visitors to the conservation zoo will see Sulawesi crested macaques and François langurs. Visitors will meet the mischievous monkeys as they journey through Monkey Forest, as well as coming face to face with the curled-tusked Babirusa, and ‘demons of the forest’, the lowland anoa along the way.
The new macaque habitat is the largest in the UK, covering 11,500m2, equivalent to 44 tennis courts. The habitat will incorporate a woodland of over 100 trees, providing the perfect habitat for the troop to clamber around and explore.
Monkey Forest will shine a light on the troop of critically endangered Sulawesi crested macaques who are part of a conservation breeding programme for endangered species. The macaques are one of the most highly intelligent, social and promiscuous group of monkeys, hailing from rainforests on the island of Sulawesi, in Indonesia, and visitors will be able to see their cheeky grins, and observe the troop groom each other and smack their lips in greeting to one another.
As well as being highly social, the monkeys are very expressive. Whipsnade’s visitors can try the macaques’ stylish black mohawks on for size
and their hilarious facial expressions with funky face props. Those wanting to embrace their inner monkey can have a go at grooming some faux fur and look for fleas! And if the public need a rest from monkeying around, they can plant themselves on the ‘cheeky’ pink-bum themed seating area – in honour of the macaque’s iconic behind.
Monkey Forest will also introduce the public to François langurs. Swinging from tree to tree in their woodland forest, the primates, sometimes known as leaf monkeys, will often be seen foraging for snacks around their habitat. And lucky guests may even catch a glimpse of a bright orange headed baby langur, which is often closely clasped to its mother’s chest.
Along with these incredible animals Monkey Forest also offers families an opportunity to catch a glimpse of the Zoo’s only drive-through habitat, the Passage through Asia – home to free-roaming deer. Children can explore the natural play trail, can they leap like a langur or perhaps balance like a monkey? Monkey Forest has a step free access path with a range of indoor and outdoor viewing areas.
The woodland forest setting provides the perfect spot for learning about the threats facing these animals which includes habitat loss due to mining; macaques and langurs being hunted for meat or traditional medicine, as well as being trapped and sold as pets.
Monkey Forest will open to the public on Friday 29 March. To book tickets today and find out more head to whipsnadezoo.org/monkeyforest

There’s something about old wood that is so satisfying. It fits both the modern country and the industrial aesthetic, it’s environmentally friendly and, if you buy from St Albans Wood Recycling, it’s good value for money.
SAWR’s new, larger premises on the edge of St Albans boasts a huge stock of all types of wood, with more arriving every day. Everything is sorted and prepared, then cut to size on request.
Always in stock are perennially popular scaffold boards, so in demand for everything from raised beds to rustic and industrial-style furniture. You can pick up readymade scaffold board shelves, tables and benches crafted by the SAWR team, or order bespoke to you own dimensions and choice of fittings and finishes.
If you want to try your hand at making your own, you’ll find inspiration and advice in the Ideas Hub, along with important extras like Danish Oil and those oh-so-on-trend hairpin legs.
However, it’s not just about good looks or grabbing a bargain, it’s about protecting our planet. SAWR is a non-profit social enterprise, run like a business, that’s passionate – and
practical – about the environment. Collecting wood that would otherwise end up in landfill, they waste none of it . What can’t be sold for re-use is repurposed or shredded for biofuel. SAWR also invests in people. Besides local staff and volunteers, they provide work, skills and confidence for those who find it hard to get regular employment.
Find SAWR at 2 Spring Valley Business Centre, St Albans – and more information at stalbanswoodrecyling.org.uk.

Some legal protections are automatic. For example, we are automatically protected against discrimination under the 2010 Equality Act. Others, however, are neither automatic nor mandatory – there is some effort involved on our part to ensure that we are protecting ourselves and those we love from adverse situations as we move through life.
When it comes to giving yourself the very best legal protection, there are a lot of factors to think about! That is why Attwaters Jameson Hill have developed a legal checklist to help you consider some of the key legal documents you should have on hand to give you and your loved ones every advantage in life.
Not all of the below will apply to your personal situation; our checklist is designed as a prompt to help you consider your own needs and seek legal advice on the options that may be suitable for you.

There was delight at Hertford Barns Day Nursery in Cole Green as proud parents and practitioners learnt that the setting had achieved Ofstedrated ‘Outstanding’ status, following their first inspection. An outcome achieved by only 14 percent of all English Early Years providers, the inspector praised the “exceptionally skilled” team for creating an environment where children feel “safe, secure and comfortable” and “develop a strong sense of belonging”, helping them to “persevere when they find tasks difficult” and “feel a sense of pride in their accomplishments”.
In the report, the inspector observed that staff “give the highest priority to developing children’s communication and language skills” and help to “listen and enrich their experiences by introducing new vocabulary and repeating words”, the result of which “expands the language skills of all children, including those who are less verbal”. Partnerships with families were admired by the inspector, who observed that “parents are overwhelmingly complimentary about the nursery” and “speak very highly of the relationships that staff build with their children”, as well as being offered free training masterclasses and materials to “enhance children’s care and education”, alongside “frequent updates in a variety of ways to understand their child’s development and how to help them further”.
The inspector also credited the team for “actively encouraging children to care about the natural world”, with the nursery using the countryside surroundings to their advantage with initiatives including growing herbs and vegetables and caring for lambs in the springtime. At Hertford Barns, children benefit from an award-winning eco-education, with Childbase Partnership last year being named as ‘Early Years Provider of the Year’ by Keep Britain Tidy for earning the prestigious Eco-Schools ‘Green Flag’ award in every single nursery setting, a recordbreaking sector first, which recognises exceptional environmental awareness and conservation efforts.
From babies using recycled resources for sensory activities, to pre-schoolers creating bug hotels for insect observations, crafting using natural materials and carrying out litter picking sessions in their local surroundings, children of all ages take part
in the inspiring curriculum the whole year round, learning basic maths and science messages as they go. Ofsted Inspector, Elke Rockey said; “Staff place children’s needs at the centre of everything they do. Children demonstrate exceptional confidence, curiosity, and keenness to learn. The nurturing staff team plan and deliver a broad range of exciting and challenging experiences, which supports the children to thrive during their time at the nursery.”
For more information, to arrange a visit or to register for a place please contact the nursery on 01707 392999 or email hertfordbarns.nursery @childbase.com
Flexi boarding is a popular boarding option that allows children to spend some nights at school and some at home while still maintaining their family home life. The flexibility of boarding on an occasional basis provides numerous benefits for children because it offers a balance between the structure and support of an enriching boarding school life, and the comfort and familiarity of being at home.
As well as offering a range of benefits for children, both academically and personally, one of the key advantages is the opportunity for increased independence and self-reliance. By spending time away from home, children learn to manage their own routines, organise their belongings, and take responsibility for their own personal needs. This fosters the development of essential life skills, such as time management, decision-making, and problem-solving.
Building strong friendships is another significant benefit of flexi boarding, as is the opportunity for children to participate in a wide range of cocurricular activities. Boarding schools often offer an extensive array of clubs, sports teams, and cultural programmes that are not always available in day schools. By staying overnight, children can fully immerse themselves in these activities, develop their talents, and explore new interests
while still sharing their achievements at home.
For families with busy schedules or parents who travel frequently, flexi-boarding can also become a life saver. It provides a reliable, safe and secure environment for children when their parents are unable to be at home. In many cases it can also alleviate the stress and guilt that parents may feel when juggling a raft of work commitments and family responsibilities.
So, how do you know if flexi boarding is right for your child? If your child expresses an interest in boarding but is not ready for full-time boarding, flexi boarding can be a great option. It gives children the chance to dip their toes into the water and to experience the benefits of boarding life while still retaining that all-important connection with their home and family. To determine if flexi boarding is the right choice, it is essential to consider your child’s personality, preferences, and needs. Some children thrive in a structured and communal environment, while others may find it challenging to adapt to the routines and culture of boarding life. It is crucial to have open and honest conversations with your child about their feelings and expectations. Visiting the school, talking to current flexi boarding students and their parents, can also provide valuable insights into whether this option aligns with your child’s needs and aspirations.

Watch out for these hygiene risks, experts warn. By Katie Wright.
ATikTok video showing a beauty influencer cutting open a brand new make-up sponge to reveal spots of mould has gone viral, racking up more than 18m views.
Beauty influencer Kaitlyn Son, aka mycorneroftheuniverse, sliced the bright-pink teardrop-shaped blender into three pieces and found there was black mould speckled throughout.
Viewers were horrified that even an unused sponge could be so dirty, with many commenting under the video saying they’ve had their blenders for years and wondering if it’s time to get a new one.
Unfortunately, a mouldy beauty sponge isn’t the only health risk that could be hiding in your make-up bag.
We asked medical experts to explain everything you need to know about keeping your cosmetics –and your face – clean…
“Eye make-up is probably the most important part of your make-up bag to maintain good hygiene, due to the delicate tissues around the eyes making it easier for pathogens to cause infections and acting as a direct entry point,” says Dr Hana Patel, GP and women’s health specialist at Superdrug Online Doctor.
Liquid products such as mascara and eyeliner tend to be more of a problem than things like eyeshadow.
“Mascara and eyeliner tubes create a dark and moist environment, which is conducive to the growth of bacteria and harmful microorganisms,”
Patel says.
“To minimise these risks, it is recommended to replace these products every three to six months, and avoid pumping the wand, as this introduces air and can lead to contamination.”
And never share eye make-up products: “There is a much higher chance of transmitting infections from one person to another. If you notice any signs of irritation, redness, or itching, discontinue use immediately.”
“Not practising good hygiene with foundation, powders, bronzers and blushes can result in skin irritation and acne through transferred bacteria entering and clogging your pores,” says Patel.
In addition, make-up brushes or blenders used to apply base products can be a magnet for bacteria.
“Brushes collect all sorts of undesirable debris, including your make-up product, dirt and oil,” says Dr Miriam Adebibe, aesthetic doctor and founder of Dr Miriam A Skin Clinic.
“Liquid products such as mascara and eyeliner tend to be more of a problem than things like eyeshadow”
“This is a great breeding ground for bacteria and viruses, which can cause acne breakouts, skin irritation, and introduce infection where the skin barrier has broken down for any reason.”
Dr Simon Theobalds, GP at Pall Mall Medical recommends washing your make-up brushes at least once a week: “You can use a gentle, antibacterial soap or a specialised brush cleanser for this purpose. It’s vital to ensure that your brushes and beauty blenders dry completely between uses, as damp tools create a breeding ground for bacteria.”
After allowing your tools to air-dry thoroughly, store them in a clean and dry environment, he continues: “Avoid leaving them in humid areas, as moisture encourages bacterial growth. Consider using breathable containers or brush holders.”
Whether you use a blender, a brush or your fingers to apply products, Theobalds says: “Always wash your hands before applying make-up to prevent transferring dirt and bacteria onto your face and make-up tools.”
Swiping lipstick or balm directly from the bullet onto your lips may be the most convenient application method, but it’s not the most hygienic.
“It’s best to use clean lip brushes or disposable applicators instead of applying directly from the product packaging – this prevents the transfer of bacteria from your lips back into the product,” Theobalds says.
Adebibe agrees: “Applying lip balm with your finger can transfer dirt and bacteria into your balm and onto your lips. Make sure to wash your hands before applying to avoid this.”
Never share lip products, Theobalds warns: “Especially with individuals with compromised immune systems, as this increases the risk of spreading infections,” such as herpes simplex,
which can cause cold sores.
“It’s also important to discard any lip products that have changed in texture, smell, or colour.”
Don’t forget to include lip brushes when doing your weekly wash, he adds: “Use a mild, antibacterial soap or brush cleanser. Make sure your brushes are thoroughly dry before using them to prevent the growth of bacteria.”
“Make-up bags will naturally accumulate bacteria over time, especially if make-up products spill or if brushes and applicators are not cleaned regularly,” Patel says.
“Bacterial growth in the bag increases the risk of skin infections and irritations when using the stored products.”
Nasties can transfer from one product to another, and if you store your make-up bag in the humid environment of a bathroom it can promote bacterial growth.
“To address this concern, it is advisable to frequently clean both the inside and outside of your make-up bag using a mild disinfectant or wipes,” Patel says.
“Use separate compartments within the bag for different types of products to prevent crosscontamination. Opt for make-up bags made of washable materials that can be easily cleaned or wiped down.”

This chic shade is a staple you can rely on, says Sam Wylie-Harris.
Call it espresso, café au lait or cortado, when it comes to getting a caffeine fix in the fashion world, chocolate brown is where it’s at.
Super versatile, add a dash of creamy beige or wear it straight up… brown is an earthy, warming tone that doesn’t shout and stays true to form in its classic style.
Far from frothy and so much more than a safe neutral, this designers’ favourite has re-emerged as a standout item for its warmth and bankability –brown is universal and suits everyone!
Here’s what’s hot on the high street…
Whether you go aviator, biker or bomber, a jacket will be your hardest working standout piece this season. Hitting that sweet spot between a jacket with attitude and timeless elegance, you’ll get even more mileage from this must-have by pairing it with a diaphanous dress when the spring collections drop.
It’s no secret the contrast of brown against black is never bland, with that luxe look lending newness to anything you wear it with. Especially when you look forward to wearing a silky ruffle blouse, sexy sheer shirt or sequin T, the beauty of brown is that it makes everything look bang up to date.
Looking to break boundaries? Why wear black leather leggings or trousers when you can nail the quiet luxury trend in the same frame… top your brown bottoms with rich earthy tones or cosy caramel knit to look effortlessly cool.
Head-to-toe is the way to go for a polished, sophisticated look. Dresses and two-pieces in rich chocolates and mocha, belted and accessorised with tonal hues, a maxi bag or clutch (both trending for S/S 24) looks chic and effortless. Furthermore, designers are playing with texture, such as ribbed wool with leather, faux fur embellishment and sweater dresses made from sweatshirt fleece for a contemporary twist on this beloved basic.
“A jacket will be your hardest working standout piece this season”

The shift into Spring is finally happening but it can be the hardest season to style yourself for. With the constantly changing weather, this can be challenging when putting outfits together. As a personal stylist I work with women and men to help them transition and update their wardrobes as the seasons change. Here are my tips for nailing your style this Spring.
Spending some time in front of your wardrobe is the best way to really understand what you have and what you need. Reviewing the good, the bad and purging the ugly will help you see what you have. This gives you a clear picture of what not to buy in the future and what you might have forgotten you had.
Think about combining clothes together that you might have never put together before. Take some time to play around with your separates creating new outfits. You could try combinations of casual with smarter pieces, using pieces you might not have worn for years with something new for a fresh look.
Having your colours done is the quickest and easiest way to give you the confidence to wear colour. You would find out what colours suit your unique characteristics the best and by adding colour into your style you can create much more of an impact with your outfits.
Spring is the ideal time to reboot your wardrobe with fresh items and new silhouettes. Make a list of what you need for your wardrobe to work for your lifestyle. Stick to your list, do not panic buy or buy pieces in the sale. This way you will be adding the best pieces to your wardrobe that you will wear and that will help define the style that you want. Fads come and go, but when is a trend not a trend?
“The ‘quiet luxury’ anti-trend is an understated approach to dressing that can be perfected by styling timeless, low-key staples with minimalistic designs,” says Sheila McKain, chief product officer at Hush.
Indeed, when celebrating classic tailoring, ‘quiet luxury’ proves a little goes a long way.
Think pared-down pieces that don’t shout ‘look at me,’ but have a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ that makes you look effortlessly chic and rich – without a logo or label in sight.
To master this aesthetic, McKain says you don’t have to spend thousands on high-end designer pieces: “It’s more about choosing great quality and thoughtful design – selecting core items you can use to create a base is key.”
She says trophy pieces include a classic blazer, wide-leg trousers or straight-leg jeans and a crisp, white shirt. “When styled together, each of these pieces can create a multitude of everyday looks,” suggests McKain.
To ensure you get the most wear out of each item, she says to keep colours neutral and stay within a palette of brown, beige, black and white.
As far as accessories go, she says jewellery should be kept minimal with something as simple as a small hoop earring.
If this sounds a little too safe, a gold bangle or carefully selected thin gold necklace chains (styled effortlessly) will luxe up your look to the desired effect.
As Sian Ryan, director of design at River Island, puts it: “Quiet luxury is essentially a wardrobe of styling essentials, where items can be worn in a multitude of ways and span many seasons –ensuring customers get a true sense of value for money.”
The white shirt
“My favourite outfit at the minute is a white shirt teamed with a straight-leg jean and pointed-toe kitten heel,” says Ryan. “When I wear this, I feel put together, yet effortless. I like to think of it
as ‘easy elegance’.” Whether you wear your crisp, white shirt open with a sleeveless white vest underneath, or buttoned up nonchalantly, go a size larger to make it look more expensive. Longer in the sleeve, wider on the shoulder and a little more length gives it that luxurious, designer feel.
Neutral knits
“Neutral knitwear in super-soft luxury yarns are perfect for when the days turn cooler,” says Karen Peacock, Albaray’s co-founder and chief creative officer. “A chic colour palette that goes with everything helps create multiple ways to wear.” Remember, fabrics play a leading role, so look for soft-to-the-touch in a smooth yarn for a cashmere cheat – or some texture for your rib crib-sheet.
Tailored jacket
“An elevated blazer in a heritage check looks ideal styled with a classic jean and white T-shirt combination,” suggests Peacock. “A simple look which creates an easy, pared-back luxe look.”
Whether you go for a washed look or mid-wash blue, a looser fit is encouraged to make them look premium. And remember, no obvious branding on the bum or rips on knees. Plus, if you can comfortably pose with hand-in-pocket, you’re in the inner circle for classy, desirable denim.
Looking ahead and transitioning into Autumn, a timeless camel coat always looks effortlessly chic. Naturally, the colour plays a part. Camel isn’t practical, it shows every mark and therein lies the beauty of it – you’re wealthy enough to fork out for dry cleaning bills. “A camel coat offers versatility and a sense of polish to any outfit,” notes Peacock. A welcome addition to any wardrobe, she says a masculine silhouette and slight oversized fit allows for multiple layering opportunities… we’re thinking an ivory sweater tied around the shoulders, just so.
“From understated hoops to simple chains, the quiet luxury trend is about choosing the right pieces, and keeping it simple, timeless and refined,” says Sally Arkley-Wade, head of product and trading at H Samuel. She says to focus on quality materials and subtle details to create elegant and sophisticated looks. “Team your plain white top, those everyday jeans or timeless shirt with affordable must-haves,” suggests Arkley-Wade. “Choose from 9ct
gold chains, stack up your ear with 9ct gold hoops, or invest in the finer details – whatever your style, you will find something to suit your budget.” And select pieces which can be worn with a variety of outfits, she adds. “Mix and match delicate necklaces, stack thin rings, or layer bracelets to add depth and interest to your overall style.”

“Having time in the pool every day gives you the space to work through any stress or worries with the movement of water over your body creating a massaging sensation which encourages you to relax”
It can help manage long-term conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and dementia. Additionally, it’s a powerful tool for promoting mental wellbeing by reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety. Having time in the pool every day gives you the space to work through any stress or worries with the movement of water over your body creating a massaging sensation which encourages you to relax. With an indoor swimming pool from Origin, these benefits are on your doorstep, enhancing the quality of life for you and your entire family.
When you live in the UK you know sun is not always a certainty but an indoor pool makes it feel like summer all year round and provides limitless fun, entertainment and swimming no matter the weather. However, if you’re concerned about missing out on those outdoor swims during the summer months, bifold or sliding doors are the perfect solution. They allow you to open up your pool house completely, letting you bring the outdoors in without the inconvenience and restrictions of an outdoor pool.
Whether you have beautiful, undulating views or just want to open up the space, bifold or sliding doors give you the best of both worlds and a unique backdrop to swim against.

Iabsolutely love what I do, I really do believe I’ve got my ‘dream job’ and I consider it an enormous privilege to work with people in their own homes, and to deliver the best possible finish for them. In order to do it well. I need to get to the nitty gritty of how you use your space, and when it comes to the living room, often the most important thing of all, is the sofa.
Whether you are a ‘sitter’ or a ‘layer’, need a little extra support, want to slouch with the kids and the dogs, or whether it’s a more formal affair, are all really important factors to help me to find the very best sofa or chair for you.
To this end, I have spent years searching, sitting and laying on every kind of shape and model, most of which were utterly forgettable. And all of a sudden, there it was! My personal pin up of a sofa! Deep and squishy, but with a firmness that means you can hop up at any moment. With plump feather cushions and a feather topped seat, you won’t be wanting to hop very far! With frames made of solid oak and uppers of the softest, yet firmest feather fillings, this sofa doesn’t just look the part, but cuts the mustard in comfort like no other.
Of course we have used this, our ‘Thornham’ sofa in a lot of projects to great success, and are sure to make sure it’ll stand up to children and pets with washable upholstery, it can’t be precious, it’s got many years of doing a job for you ahead.
There’s more than the ‘Thornham’ in our ‘Rebecca Clark Bespoke’ sofa collection, we have a huge array of shapes and styles, but all have

Spring Styling Tips from Sophie at Funky Chunky Furniture: “Spring is a refreshing season, a season where nature feels like it’s hit the reboot button, and all around us, our parks, gardens and fields comes back to their glorious, colourful best.
With cheeky snowdrops the first to brave the cold mornings, followed swiftly by cheerful daffodils, buds on the trees, and the birds full of song.
“Shrug off the cosiness of Winter and bring that happy Spring vibe into your home with some simple changes to your everyday as well as your decor.
“Start by flinging windows wide, to let that fresh air in. Nothing heralds the end of winter more than seeing curtains fluttering in a gently breeze coming through an open window, hearing birds happily singing away outside.
“Update your window boxes and herb planters with early flowering plants like Pansies and Primroses.
“Add pops of colour to your rooms. Pop flowers in vases or jugs, or show your house plants some love with an updated plant pot cover. Place a colourful throw over the arm of the sofa, for those cooler evenings. If you love a seasonal wreath on your front door, or around your home, it’s time to update those too. Clean and put away the wintry ones and choose delightfully bright and fun ones to add to that Spring theme.
“And with Easter just around the corner, you can start to think about decorating your home for that too. An Easter tree makes a wonderful statement in your home. Place a few large branches into a jug and decorate with Easter ornaments. The perfect place for it is either in a now redundant hearth, or on a console table in a hallway.” funky-chunky-furniture.co.uk

The UK’s top heating specialists, UK Radiators, might be experts at keeping the home cosy and warm, but they are also on hand to tell consumers what trends will be hot in 2024. And according to them, three will dominate the heating sector next year: Laid Back Luxe, Dark Colours and Raw Materials. Rob Nezard, Managing Director of UK Radiators, said: “The homes and interiors sector has seen a steady move towards embracing bold design choices and this is now extending to long-term fixtures and fittings including radiators. “Standard white radiators are slowly disappearing as more homeowners banish the bland and inject statement pieces. Radiators that stand up in form and function will reign.”
Grey tones can impart a sense of sophistication and luxury and are ideal for pairing with more rugged interior choices, such as the industrialism movement. Grey, with its neutral and versatile nature, serves as an ideal backdrop to showcase the raw elements in industrial design. Rob said: “A muted palette not only complements raw textures such as exposed brick and metal, but it can bring a touch of calm and ensure the space is inviting.”
Brooding, dark shades are set to take centre stage in this year. Rob said: “A black or anthracite
radiator will add depth and drama. Mount it to a grey wall or contrast it with white for a more contemporary look.”
Biophilia, where natural materials are embraced, has been a key trend for a number of years, but Rob believes we’ll start to see more raw materials incorporated in the home in 2024 - including metallic elements. Think faded metal, unvarnished hardwood and exposed pipework.
Rob said: “A raw metal column radiator complements this aesthetic perfectly, bringing a mechanical, vintage look and a whole lot of heat.” ukradiators.com

Available in two finishes, Dotti and Disc, Las Ramblas might look like it’s been delicately uprooted from a centuries-old Spanish villa, but it is in fact crafted from modern ceramics.
Lesley Taylor, Interior Designer and Founder of The Baked Tile Company, said: “For those who love the look of traditional reclaimed tiles, Las Ramblas is ideal.
“It has a very strong heritage appeal but looks
beautiful in contemporary settings too.”
A distressed finish softens the strong geometric pattern. Las Ramblas Dotti brings together soft terracottas, muted green and a moody blue in a faux four-tile setting. Disc has dots of blue and pink, while off-white shades and earthy browns reign supreme. Again, the tile is quartered to give the impression of four individual tiles which come together to create a disc effect.
Las Ramblas Disc and Las Ramblas Dotti are both available now from bakedtiles.co.uk priced at £45 per m2

Introducing The Cotswold Company’s Spring/Summer 2024 Furniture & Homeware Collections
Nothing is more cathartic than a home refresh and declutter ahead of Spring. For Spring/Summer 2024, The Cotswold Company welcomes the signs of spring with a beautifully curated collection of practical and elegant furniture and homeware. Whether it’s a bold home refresh or the simple addition of some seasonal updates in calming and natural colours and textures.
Organisation and storage are key in any interior scheme throughout the home, regardless of size. Space is a valuable asset when it comes to family living and that’s where The Cotswold Company’s thoughtful, well-crafted designs come in. From compact larders with adjustable shelves to foldaway desks with secret compartments that help maximise space.
When space is a luxury, the Chester Bootility Unit combines built-to-last practicality without sacrificing style. Perfect for ‘Bootility’ rooms
that combine utility, laundry, and boot space, this multifunctional unit houses a wealth of handy storage for shoes, bags, coats, wellies, and laundry items. With adjustable shelving, a shoe storage bench (equally useful for sitting while putting on and taking off shoes), handy hooks, and a top shelf, this piece of furniture will endure through the years – from a growing family to visiting friends.
Lisa Coppin, Chief Creative Officer at The Cotswold Company, says, ‘The onset of spring is such a key time in getting our homes ready for the year ahead and its many special moments—from celebratory birthday parties and fun-filled school holidays to quiet moments with family at home.
Our homes, if planned and organised well, can support us in so many ways. At The Cotswold Company, we like to think we have listened to our customers and perfected the art of creating beautifully designed, well-crafted, and thoroughly practical pieces that fit into any type of home, whether it be a cottage in the Cotswolds or a modern city dwelling.
‘For spring, we have introduced a collection of great storage, from humble baskets to substantial media units and kitchen larders. We’ve invested significant time in developing and expanding our upholstery ranges, now backed by a 15year guarantee. Crafted in the UK by master upholsterers, our upholstery collections feature sustainably sourced wood frames and provide customers with a choice of over 45 quality fabrics.’
Once the clutter is cleared, invite spring in with fresh and light decorative additions. Add a nod to nature by introducing seasonal finishing touches, such as pastel cushions and jute rugs. Finally, infuse the air with seasonal fragrances featuring notes of lemon and garden blooms to awaken tired corners.
