Explore over 320,000 amazing objects from the capital’s transport past with three days of talks, tours, vehicle displays and family activities.

Inspired by the 160th anniversary of the London Underground this year, ‘The Big Build’ Depot Open Days event will offer guests a line-up of talks, workshops, and family activities that delve into the history of the Underground’s construction and its evolution over the years - from feats of ingenious large-scale engineering to the brilliant design details that have created an internationally recognised brand.

‘The Big Build’ Depot Open Days event takes place on 16-18 June 2023.

Adult tickets cost £17.50 and £8.50 for children. Children aged 3 and under go free.

Concessions are available including local resident tickets for resident of Ealing, Hounslow or Hillingdon.

Join talks from Museum curators, get creative in craft workshops, meet costumed characters from key points in the Underground’s history, climb aboard vintage vehicles, and explore weird and wonderful objects from London’s past – including original versions of the now iconic diagrammatic London Tube map, first issued 90 years ago in 1933.

London Transport Museum is opening the doors to its Museum Depot in Acton for one weekend this June, giving the public the chance to explore a working museum store full of amazing objects from the capital’s transport past.

Normally closed to visitors, Depot Open Days are special themed events throughout the year that offer the public the chance to explore the Museum Depot’s vast collection of over 320,000 historical objects not on display in the Covent Garden Museum, while enjoying a lively programme of activities.
