In addition to academic excellence, we believe that demonstrating leadership through community service is an essential part of being a member of the Honors College. Each academic year, students are required to
complete at least 20 volunteer service hours in activities such as tutoring, Honors projects, university-wide projects, or work with nonprofit organizations.

INNOVATION INNOVATION
In our Pre-Med track, you will take specialized courses and participate in handson clinical experiences tailored to prepare you for a career in medicine. With access to advanced science courses and exclusive opportunities like the Pre-Med Early Assurance Program, you’ll be on the fast track to medical school. This program allows high-achieving Honors College students to apply for early acceptance to FIU’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, bypassing the traditional application process.
Students Taking Initiative Through
Collaboration in Honors (STITCH) connects Honors College students with the medical profession through seminars, advising sessions, and volunteer opportunities. The club helps top Honors students aspiring to enter medical school prepare for their future careers by offering resources and networking with FIU’s Medical School.
Student organizations like Panther Mock Trial and Pre-Law Advocates for Community Engagement and Service provide hands-on experience and help build essential legal skills.
If you're planning on attending law school, the Pre-Law track offers a dynamic curriculum that combines academic rigor with practical experience. Engage in mock trials, legal research and workshops with legal professionals to gain the insights and skills needed to excel in law school. ADVANCED RESEARCH AND CREATIVITY IN HONORS (ARCH) PROGRAM
If you’re interested in research, the Advanced Research and Creativity in Honors (ARCH) Program is a unique opportunity to work closely with faculty experts on cutting-edge research and creative projects. As a student at an R1 research university, you’ll participate in supervised research that sharpens your critical-thinking and problem-solving skills –valuable assets for your resume or graduate school applications. You’ll present your findings at the annual Honors College Research Day, showcasing your work to the FIU community.

UNIQUE COURSE SELECTIONS
Our Honors College offers a wide range of enriching, interdisciplinary courses to provide you with unique academic experiences beyond the standard curriculum. These courses encourage in-depth exploration across various fields of study, blending perspectives from different disciplines to foster critical thinking and intellectual growth. • Honors Seminars: These small, discussion-based seminars cover a wide range of topics and are taught by distinguished faculty members. The seminars encourage critical thinking, intellectual curiosity and lively discussions among students.
• Interdisciplinary Courses: FIU’s Honors College offers interdisciplinary courses that integrate knowledge from multiple fields of study. These courses provide a holistic perspective and allow students to explore connections between different disciplines.
• Research and Writing Intensive Courses: These courses focus on developing research and writing skills, preparing students for advanced academic work and professional endeavors. Students engage in independent research projects, write research papers and receive guidance from faculty mentors.
• Community Engagement Courses: The Honors College emphasizes community engagement, and students have the opportunity to take courses that involve service-learning components. STUDENT CLUBS
PASSION Find your
FIU has hundreds of clubs and organizations, including these clubs specifically for our Honors College students. Joining one of these organizations is a great way for you to meet other Honors students from diverse majors.
Honors Leadership Council
The Honors Leadership Council serves as the voice of Honors students, organizing events, social activities, and leadership development programs. Members collaborate with faculty and staff to improve the Honors College experience, while building leadership skills and fostering a close-knit community.
Future Innovators –Honors College Engineering and Computing
Future Innovators will create a vibrant environment for engineering and computing students by providing networking opportunities for members and fostering collaboration to share knowledge and resources.
BC Community Project
The BC Community Project provides shelter and resources to the homeless community through initiatives like bubble tents and access to essential services. The project offers safety, education, and support to those in need.
Green Campus Initiative (GCI)
The Green Campus Initiative (GCI) is a non-political student initiative aiming to develop and implement feasible plans to make FIU’s MMC campus environmentally friendly. GCI focuses on simple, business-friendly projects that contribute to sustaining our environment. GCI’s primary goals include raising awareness about the implications of plastic pollution and waste.
Honors Education in the Arts (HEARTS) gives Honors College students opportunities to explore and appreciate different artistic and cultural traditions and modes of artistic expression, recognize the interplay of culture and art, and celebrate diversity.
HEARTBeats A Cappella
HEARTBeats A Cappella brings together students with a shared passion for music, offering an outlet for non-music majors to continue singing and performing in college. The group aims to foster community through musical expression, bringing the joy of performance to FIU.
HEARTS Art Club
The HEARTS Art Club provides a welcoming and judgment-free space for students to express themselves through a variety of artistic mediums. Meeting at the Frost Art Museum, members create art, share ideas, and relax in a creative space.
HEARTS Crochet Club
The HEARTS Crochet Club invites students of all skill levels to come together for weekly crafting sessions. Whether you’re an expert or just learning, the club offers a supportive community where students can unwind, share projects and bond over crochet.
HEARTS Photography Club
The HEARTS Photography Club welcomes students of all experience levels to develop their photography skills. Through workshops and activities, members explore various aspects of photography, from technical skills to creative expression.
Honors Fashion Club
The Honors Fashion Club fosters a vibrant community of fashion enthusiasts, promoting creativity, self-expression, and intellectual growth. It provides a platform for students to connect, learn fashion skills, and celebrate the influence of fashion.
HEARTS Writing Club
The HEARTS Writing Club offers a supportive environment for creative writing, allowing students to share their work and explore different writing styles. Each meeting provides prompts to inspire reflection and creative expression, fostering a community of storytellers.

EXPANDING YOUR horizons
The Honors College is a community of students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds and disciplines who are dedicated to excellence in all pursuits. We offer unique experiences, encouraging our students to become lifelong learners. One of our values is to create global citizens who are aware of the wider world and engage with their local and global communities with the belief that we can all make a difference.
In service to our mission, we offer eight Study Abroad & Study USA Programs that are interdisciplinary and open to all majors. As an FIU Honors student, most of the logistics are taken care of including booking accommodations, inprogram transportation, museum visits, and local guides. All you need to do is focus on earning a passing grade and booking transportation to your program destination. These faculty-led programs, consisting of 12-22 students, allow you to travel with an FIU Honors professor for three to six weeks, internationally, while fulfilling your upper-division curriculum requirement. The Honors Study Abroad or Study USA courses count towards Honors upperdivision curriculum requirement.
