College Life Live Debrief SEXUAL MISCONDUCT, CHILD ABUSE AND MANDATORY REPORTING STATEMENT The University is committed to combating child abuse or neglect and sexual misconduct. As a result, you should know that University faculty and staff members are required to report any instances of sexual misconduct, including harassment and sexual violence, to the University’s Title IX office so that the victim may be provided appropriate resources and support options. Also, in the State of Florida, any person who knows, or has reasonable cause to suspect, that someone under the age of 18 is being abused (which includes sexual abuse), abandoned or neglected, must immediately report this information to the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) in order that no harm comes to them. What this means is that all faculty, staff, and student leaders, including Peer Advisors and Panther Camp Facilitators, are required to report any of these types of incidents that are directly shared with us, or of which we are somehow made aware. There are University employees who do not have this reporting responsibility and can maintain confidentiality. The Victim Empowerment Program provides free and confidential support services to students, faculty, and staff who have experienced actual or threatened violence in the form of sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking, among others. Victim Advocate Counselors are located in the Counseling Center and available during walk-in hours or by appointment. They are also available for crisis response 24/7 by calling 305-348-2277(CAPS).

MYMAJOR MyMajor (http://mymajor.fiu.edu) provides in-depth information on all FIU undergraduate majors, admissions criteria, career opportunities, and department contact information. MyMajor includes Major Maps, or programs of study, that show students what they need to take to graduate in a timely manner. PANTHER DEGREE AUDIT A PDA is an unofficial copy of a student's academic progress that may be obtained from https://my.fiu.edu. ACADEMIC WARNING AND PROBATION The “warning” and “probation” status has serious implications on academic progress, financial aid, and scholarships. Students must meet with an advisor immediately if placed on Academic Warning or Probation. EXCESS CREDIT HOUR SURCHARGE A surcharge is assessed for each credit attempted in excess of 110% of the minimum required for your degree. This typically means students can attempt up to 12 additional credits before incurring double tuition. Visit http://onestop.fiu.edu for additional information.

The FIU Student Ambassadors are an exclusive group of student leaders who support various university and community functions which bring philanthropic awareness and help raise funds for our FIU. To be selected as an Ambassador is an honor and a privilege. The mission of the group is to raise philanthropic dollars and awareness among the student body, to support the university with donor, alumni events and visitors that bring philanthropic support to the university and to continue celebrating some of FIU's biggest traditions, like Trail of the Torch. Ambassadors enjoy camaraderie, personal and professional growth, socials, community service and other fun events and opportunities.

When students are going through difficult times, FIU has your back. For this reason, the Student Ambassadors work on bringing philanthropic awareness and raising funds to help our fellow panthers in times of crisis. For example, Aldo Amenta, one of our recent graduates, benefited from the help of the Student Emergency Fund in order to stay in school after suffering from a debilitating spinal injury. He just recently was able to walk across the stage on his graduation. His story is just one of the hundreds of students this fund has helped.
