The Housing Facilities Office
The Housing Office staff provides general housing information, processes housing agreements and room assignments, manages student billing and offers payment assistance. We also provide administrative support for business related functions, such as facilities management, purchasing, and budgeting. Our staff is well trained and ready to assist you with all your housing needs. The Housing Office is located in University Park Towers, Room 121.
The Residential Life staff is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the residence halls. Our team of specially trained professionals and student staff are responsible for promoting the personal and academic success of students living in the residence halls. Through services, programs, and activities, our staff members develop positive communities conducive to student growth and success. We are available to assist students with any concerns, including personal, academic, and residential issues. The Office of Residential Life is located in Panther Hall, Room 126.
The Housing Facilities staff oversee and perform all aspects of student housing maintenance and custodial services. Our goal is to create and maintain a clean, safe, efficient residential environment supportive of student learning. We encourage all community members to take pride in their on-campus home and become partners with us in achieving our goal. The Housing Facilities Office is located in Lakeview South, Room 140.

Student Programming and Academic Initiatives The Residential Life staff is committed to providing an environment for students that is both enjoyable and educational. A variety of social programs are planned to help students meet one another and become acclimated to the University environment. Residents can also choose to attend workshops to learn more about areas such as library research, term paper writing, test advising, and tutoring in the Academic Resource Centers located in both Lakeview South Hall (Modesto Maidique Campus) and Bay Vista Housing (Biscayne Bay Campus). Professional academic tutors and advisors are available to provide individual and group tutoring. Advisors are available to assist students on academic matters. The Residential Life staff also sponsors programs to encourage and recognize academic achievement, such as the annual Dean’s List Gala and the ongoing Brain Bucks program.
Involvement Opportunities
Academic Resource Center (ARC)
Living on campus provides students with more than just a place to live. Residents can take advantage of the many opportunities to get involved in the campus and Housing community. There are always programs and activities to attend–many of our residents even help in the planning of events that are of particular interest to them. In addition, there are various organizations in which residents can join. Several of these groups serve as a representative voice for the residents of Housing and also plan various social and community service events. The Residence Hall Association (RHA) provides an opportunity for students to become involved in issues concerning the residence halls through Village/Hall Councils. The Residence Hall Association is the umbrella organization for Towers Council, Everglades Council, Lakeview North Council, Lakeview South Council, Panther Hall Council, University Park Apartments Council, Bay Vista Hall Council, and the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH). RHA is the voice of residents to the Student Government Association and both the Housing and University administrative staff. RHA is open to all residents and provides students opportunities to create, plan, support, and participate in Housing and campus activities.
The Academic Resource Center is the place to go for all things related to your academic success as a resident. In this state of the art facility, you will find quiet study space, laptops that you can borrow, academic success workshops, and undergraduate academic advising. The ARC is also home to the A-Team, the residential tutors who are here to help you in subjects varying from math, sciences, business, and writing. Our Living Learning Communities Finding your niche on a large campus can be challenging. Living Learning Communities (LLC) offer you the instant benefit of living with others who share your interests or major. These communities are designed to be places where students easily make friends and excel academically. If you would like to join any of these communities, simply indicate this preference on your Housing Agreement (see page 24).
FOR FIRST TIME IN COLLEGE STUDENTS First Year Residents Succeeding Together (F.Y.R.S.T.) F.Y.R.S.T. helps students acclimate to the university in a fun and supportive environment. Participants can also take the required Freshmen Experience class right in the residence hall and have easy access to student and faculty mentors. Community service opportunities and a variety of programs and workshops enable students to meet one another, get involved in the University community, and gain important skills in and out of the classroom. This special community for first year students is located in Panther and Lakeview South Halls at the Modesto Maidique Campus and Bay Vista Housing at Biscayne Bay Campus.

F.Y.R.S.T. Explore
F.Y.R.S.T. Social Justice NEW!
Honors Place
F.Y.R.S.T. Explore is one section of the F.Y.R.S.T. program and is designed to provide assistance to those students who want to explore different majors. College students are often times unsure of what major to choose. In collaboration with FIU Career Services and other University faculty and staff, a variety of programs, workshops, and advising opportunities are provided to assist students in learning more about options for their future and finding a good fit to match their individual interests and skills. This program is available in both Lakeview Hall South and Panther Hall.
Housing and Residential Life has partnered with the Center for Leadership & Services and the College of Social Work to bring to our first year students a Living Learning Community that will explore global issues and knowledge of diversity and injustice and develop students’ awareness and responsibility toward service and civic engagement. The community brings together faculty and students across a variety of disciplines in order to examine issues of injustice based on ability, age, economic class, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, and sexual orientation through a myriad of programs and shared interactive experiences. This program is available for first year students in Panther Hall at the Modesto Maidique Campus.
All freshmen students in The Honors College are encouraged to live in Honors Place at Lakeview Hall South or at Bay Vista Housing where FIU faculty and Residential Life staff work together to provide a special experience for Honors students. Students in this unique community participate in various community service projects, study group sessions, and are offered a variety of workshops and social programs unique to The Honors College. Honors Place students also have the opportunity to participate in Honors courses offered in the residence hall.
Architecture and The Arts Community Students from the College of Architecture and the Arts are encouraged to live in the Architecture and Arts Community in Lakeview Hall South, where FIU faculty and Residential Life staff work together to provide students with special programming, events, and the convenience of living in close proximity with other students who share the same major and interests. Students will benefit from the interactions with their peers and faculty, and the opportunity to be more involved in their college.
Honors Place II All upper classmen Honor College students in their second, third, and fourth year are encouraged to live in Honors Place II located in Everglades Hall where FIU faculty and Residential Life staff work together to provide a special experience for Honors students. Just like in Honors Place, students in this community participate in various community service projects, study group sessions, and are offered a variety of workshops and social programs unique to The Honors College. Honors Place students also have the opportunity to participate in Honors courses offered in the residence hall.
Leaders in Residence (LIR) The Leaders in Residence community provides students with the opportunity to explore their personal leadership styles and values. Located in Everglades Hall, this program is provided by Housing and Residential Life and the Center for Leadership and Service. Through educational programs, mentoring experiences, and community service involvement, students will develop valuable lifelong skills. 2 BEDROOM QUAD 5. PROCESSING FEE AND REFUNDS: The $100.00 processing fee submitted with the Housing Agreement is non-refundable and non-transferable. A. If the student has been approved for a cancellation in accordance with paragraph 16 prior to the seventh week of the semester, a pro-rated portion of prepaid housing fees will be refunded. The pro-rated portion of prepaid housing fees will be calculated from the first official published check-in day to the day the student checks out of the assigned housing unit prior to the end of the start of the sixth week of the applicable semester. The check-in dates for each semester are posted on www.housing.fiu.edu B. No refunds shall be made after the start of the seventh week of the applicable semester.
4. PAYMENT OF FEES: The student shall promptly pay all fees when assessed. In the event of unforeseen occurrences, additional fees may be assessed. The Housing Office accepts checks, money orders, and traveler’s checks drawn on a United States bank with sufficient funds. A. Failure to pay fees when due shall be considered a breach of this Agreement and may result in one or more of the following actions being taken: 1) denial of housing services; 2) loss of space; 3) inability to register for classes; 4) withholding of University records or diploma; and/or 5) turning the matter over for collection. B. Additionally, a late fee of $25.00 will be assessed for any payment which is not received when due. C. When the University is forced to turn the account to collections, the student shall be responsible for all additional costs of collection including attorneys’ fees and costs. In the event of any legal action to enforce this Agreement, the student shall be responsible for paying all court costs and fees, including attorneys’ fees and costs at all judicial levels (e.g. trial and any appellate courts). D. Deferments of fees may be granted, provided the official notification of Financial Aid Award shows one or more of the following in an amount sufficient to pay for tuition, fees, and housing from one or more of the following : 1) Pell Grant; 2) Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant; 3) FIU Grant/Scholarship; 4) Stafford Loan; and/or 5) Florida Prepaid College Program. E. Deferment requests are subject to approval by the Director of Housing or designee. If a partial deferral is approved, the student is responsible for paying the balance due in full prior to occupancy. If a deferral request is denied, the student must make payment by the published payment date in order to guarantee housing. F. If a student looses their assigned unit, they remain financially obligated for all Housing fees.
3. HOUSING FEES AND MEAL PLAN: The student will be responsible for the housing fee once notified of being assigned to a housing space. Notification will be accomplished through the use of the student’s assigned official FIU email account. The fee schedule is located at www.housing.fiu.edu, which is incorporated by reference. Residence in Panther Hall and Lakeview Village are required to participate in the University’s dining meal plan program at the rate of $1,699.00 per semester for the full academic year (consisting of the Fall and Spring semesters). The cost of the meal plan is included in the Panther Hall and Lakeview Village on-campus housing rate, and the cost of such meal plan is non-refundable. Residence in all other on-campus housing facilities does not require participation in the University’s dining program, but have the option to participate at an additional fee.
2. TERMS OF THE AGREEMENT FALL AND SPRING: Subject to earlier termination as provided in Paragraph 18, THIS AGREEMENT IS FOR BOTH THE FALL AND SPRING SEMESTERS OF THE CURRENT ACADEMIC YEAR, or any portion of the Fall and/or Spring Semester remaining when this Agreement is signed. The current academic year is based on the FIU 2010-2011 Academic Calendar located at http://registrar.fiu.edu. The student will be assessed all fees for the entire term if the student enrolls but does not occupy the assigned unit and has not canceled this Agreement pursuant to Paragraph 16 below. The student shall not be released from this Agreement due to lack of financial resources, dietary or non-emergency medical needs. The student is urged to carefully consider his/her circumstances prior to entering into this Housing Agreement.
1. ELIGIBILITY: A person must be enrolled as a degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student to be eligible for on-campus housing. The Director of Housing or his/ her designee may permit, solely within his/her discretion, students enrolled in Continuing Education, Dual Degree programs, or other students with special circumstances to be eligible for on-campus housing not withstanding this provision Housing Agreements must be approved by the Director of Housing. On campus housing may be denied for cause or lack of space with any monies paid returned prior to occupancy. According to Florida law, individuals enrolled in a postsecondary educational institution shall provide documentation of vaccinations against Meningococcal Meningitis and Hepatitis B unless the individual, (if 18 years of age or older), or the individual’s parent or guardian (if the individual is a minor), declines the vaccination by completing a separate waiver for each of these vaccines. Each student must submit his or her vaccination information to University Health Services prior to checking into Housing. 9. USE OF THE ASSIGNED UNIT: The student is not permitted to assign or sublease to, or allow the use of the assigned space by another person and/or guest. A. Guests and visitors must observe all published rules and abide by required registration policies. The student will be responsible for the conduct and actions of his/her guest. No overnight guests are permitted without prior written approval from the Residence Life Coordinator. B. The assigned unit may not be used as a place of business, nor may a student conduct any business within the Housing facility. C. No animals or pets are permitted at any time. D. The student shall use the space only for lawful purposes. E. No smoking is permitted within the housing units or in the public areas associated with the facilities. F. The student is prohibited from possessing items considered to be health and safety violations (such as candles, incense, halogen lamps, etc.) as set forth in the Student Handbook.
8. CHANGES IN ASSIGNMENTS: Student may not change housing assignments without following established procedures and obtaining prior written approval from the Housing Office. A. No changes in assignments will be made based on age, race, religion, national origin, disability, or sexual orientation, except as needed to provide a reasonable accommodation to a disabled student. B. Failure to follow established room transfer procedures will constitute breach of this Agreement and will result in a $100.00 improper transfer charge. C. The Housing Office reserves the right to require changes in room assignments (e.g., consolidation, in order to insure maximum utilization of space and resources). Reassignments may occur due to unforeseen events, including but not limited to, enrollment fluctuations, physical facility problems, staff changes, and emergency evacuation and shelter purposes.
7. CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT: The student may check into the assigned housing unit on the published check-in day and is entitled to remain there until 24 hours after their last day of examinations for the Spring Semester, unless this Agreement is terminated earlier in accordance with paragraph 16. The published checkout date is posted on www.housing.fiu.edu. A. In the event of termination of this Agreement, the student must vacate the assigned housing unit within 24 hours of termination and follow all check-out procedures prescribed by the Housing Office. B. For those students who have signed up for a Fall and Spring term, the students may occupy the assigned housing unit during the winter break period that occurs during the Agreement term, only if he/she has prepaid the fees in advance for the following term. C. When a student moves out of a housing unit, the student must schedule a check-out appointment with the Resident Assistant or use Express Check Out. D. Failure to follow established check-out procedures will result in a non-refundable $100.00 improper check-out fee. E. Belongings/personal items left behind by a student after the check-out deadline will be considered abandoned property. Any item(s) remaining in the student’s unit after checkout will be discarded. Housing and Residential Life staff is not responsible for belongings/ personal items left behind. F. If the student wishes to check in early or check out later than the published dates, the student needs to contact the Housing Director or designee for approval. The student who is approved to check-in earlier or check-out later than the published dates will be charged a pro-rated amount based on the number of days of the stay multiplied by the daily amount for the unit type. The student who is not approved for early check-in or late check-out but who stays outside the published dates is subject to a daily fee of $100.00. G. The student planning to check-in after the designated check-in periods is required to notify the Housing Office of the late arrival.
6. ASSIGNMENTS: Assignments are made by the Housing Office without regard to race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, age, or disability. A. Adapted housing is available upon advanced written request and availability. B. While information provided on the Housing Agreement is considered in making assignments, no guarantee of a specific unit, rate, complex, or space assignment is implied or made.

15. EVACUATION PROCEDURES: The University retains the right to use the residence hall facilities for emergency shelter purposes. If a residence hall is evacuated because of an emergency, only those students deemed eligible by University policy will be permitted to occupy space in a designated shelter.
14. SECURITY AND KEYS: The student agrees not to duplicate any keys assigned, or to transfer their use to another person. If keys are not returned at check-out, the student agrees to pay the cost for all lock changes and key replacements. The student is responsible for securing the assigned unit at all times and taking such precautions as are necessary to guard his/her safety and property. Housing facilities are routinely patrolled by the University police force but the University cannot guarantee the safety and security of the student or his/her property.
13. INSPECTIONS OF AND ACCESS TO THE UNIT: Facilities are subject to periodic health and safety inspections. Employees and agents of the University shall have the right to enter student’s unit at any time: (a) without notice, when an emergency exists, (b) when the student or residential staff has requested service for the unit for maintenance or housekeeping purposes, or (c) with 24 hour’s notice provided to student via telephone, campus mail, e-mail, or posting.
12. UTILITIES: A. The Housing Office reserves the right to assess additional charges based on excessive utility consumption, or as the result of increases in rates charged by the utility service providers. B. All units are provided with ethernet connection and basic cable television services without additional cost. Emergency call buttons are provided in the units in Panther Hall, University Park Towers, Everglades Hall, and Lakeview Village. Local telephone service is provided in Bay Vista Housing and University Park Apartments.
11. CARE OF FACILITIES AND FURNISHINGS: A. The student is responsible for maintaining the assigned units in a clean and sanitary manner, and free from damages. Due to the south Florida climate, air conditioning thermostats must remain on low setting or between 72-78 degrees at all times. No housekeeping is provided. Trash removal is provided from designated locations in each housing complex. Pest control services are provided to each housing facility once a month. The student is expected to report damages and necessary repairs to the Residence Hall Area Complex Office in accordance with established procedures. Housing and Residential Life does not guarantee the availability of parts and services. B. The student agrees to cooperate with roommates in the common protection of property, to refrain from modifying the space in any way, except as expressly permitted in writing by the Housing Office, and to promptly pay all assessed charges for damages, special cleaning or maintenance resulting from misuse or modification of the facility. The student is jointly and severally liable with his/her roommates for charges assessed due to a violation of this section, including damages occurring in the unit or in the common areas. C. The student shall be required to inspect and inventory the contents of each housing unit at the time of check-in and check-out. Each student shall be responsible for the condition of the unit’s furnishings. D. All furnishings shall remain unaltered and in their designated units.
B. The student whose Housing Agreement is terminated for behavioral misconduct shall forfeit all housing fees.

16. CANCELLATION OF AGREEMENT: To request the cancellation of this Agreement, the student must submit a cancellation request form to the Housing Office indicating which of the conditions set forth in Section 16B applies and provide any required documentation noted below. Cancellation request forms can be obtained either from the Housing Office or downloaded from the housing website www.housing.fiu.edu A. The Director of Housing or his/her designee will review the submitted request, any supporting documentation to determine whether it is approved. See 16E if the request for cancellation is denied. The decision of the Housing Director will be final. If the cancellation request is based on the student not enrolling for the following semester, subsequent enrollment in the semester following the cancellation voids the cancellation of the Agreement and reinstates all terms and conditions, including the obligation to pay all assessed fees. B. This Agreement may be canceled if any one of the following conditions is met: 1. The student withdraws from the University; 2. The student participates in an academic program that requires residence outside the Miami-Dade/Broward area (documentation is required); 3. The student is dismissed or suspended for academic reasons; 4. The student graduates and does not continue as an enrolled student in another program; 5. The student gets married after signing the Housing Agreement (documentation is required). C. The University will assess a fee for all approved cancellations of this Agreement and any fees in accordance to Section 5A. Approved cancellations for Fall/Spring will be assessed a $100.00 fee if canceled prior to July 1, 2010, and $200.00 if canceled between July 1 and August 22, 2010. Approved cancellations for Spring will be assessed a fee of $100.00 if

No additional storage space is provided. The only storage space available is in your assigned unit. Space is limited. IT IS THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO REVIEW THE STUDENT’S HOUSING NEEDS AND FINANCIAL RESOURCES BEFORE SIGNING THIS AGREEMENT. THIS AGREEMENT OBLIGATES THE STUDENT TO PAY ALL ON-CAMPUS HOUSING FEES AS STATED ABOVE. 21. HOUSING APPEALS: In order for appeals to be considered in a timely manner, students must read the guidelines below in their entirety and follow them explicitly. A. The student may appeal the imposition of housing fees or the denial of a cancellation request. B. Any appeal made under this paragraph must be done in writing and submitted to the Director of Housing or designee no later than 30 days after the fee was assessed or the date that the student was notified of the denial of the cancellation request. In the event that a student fails to file an appeal within this deadline, the student’s right to an appeal shall be deemed waived. Appeals must be accompanied by a letter and any other legal documentation supporting the extraordinary circumstance that the student feels merits an appeal. Appeals not in this format and/or that do not include documentation to support the appeal will be rejected. C. The appropriate Administrative unit will notify the student about the outcome within 14 days upon reviewing the appeal. If the appeal for an assessed fee is denied, the student must pay the fee within 14 days from the receipt of the letter. If the appeal of a cancellation request is denied, the student remains obligated under this Agreement and may exercise the buy-out option contained in paragraph 16E. D. The decision of the Director of Housing or designee regarding the appeal is final.
20. ENTIRE AGREEMENT; NO ORAL MODIFICATIONS: This Agreement sets forth the entire agreement between the student and FIU, and supersedes and renders null and void any and all prior or contemporaneous oral or written understandings, statements, representations or promises. This Agreement may not be modified or amended, and no provisions of this Agreement may be waived, unless such modification, amendment, or waiver is contained in a written document executed by both parties hereto.
19. LIABILITY: To the extent authorized by applicable law, the University shall not be liable for damage to or loss to persons or personal property as a result of fire, theft or any other cause whatsoever, or failure or interruption of utilities. The University is insured under the State of Florida’s self-insurance trust fund that only provides liability for damages or injuries caused by negligence on the part of the University or its employees while working within the scope of their employment. The trust fund will not reimburse for losses created by unforeseen accidents/injuries that may occur. The student is encouraged to secure his/her own health and personal property loss insurance.
18. TERMINATION OF THE AGREEMENT: A. This Agreement may be terminated for cause upon the giving of no less than 24 hours advance written notice to the student. In the event of such termination, the student shall check-out of the housing unit within the time provided in the notice. The University shall also have the right to cancel this Agreement for any cause it deems reasonable including, but not limited to, violations of any provision of this Agreement or the University’s policies, rules or regulations. B. Non-Enrollment: A student who withdraws from classes during any semester must notify the Housing Office and vacate the assigned housing unit within 24 hours following his/ her withdrawal from the University.
17. BREACH OF AGREEMENT: Violation of any term, covenant or condition of this Agreement shall be considered a breach of this Agreement. In the event of such a breach, the student shall be notified in writing by the Director of Housing or his/her designee. Remedies for breach of this Agreement include, but are not limited to, denial of housing services, University disciplinary action, reassignment to another unit, or termination of this Agreement pursuant to Paragraph 18. The decision of the Housing Director will be final.

Approved cancellations for any semester on or after the first day of classes are subject to a $500.00 cancellation fee. (See the 2010-2011 Academic Calendar at http://registrar.fiu.edu.) D. A cancellation fee will not be assessed to graduating students and visiting international and national academic exchange students who cancel prior to July 1, 2010 for Fall/Spring and prior to November 1, 2010 for the Spring. The cancellation fee will not be assessed to the first time applicant for housing with approved cancellations that have not yet been assessed on-campus housing charges. E. If the Director of Housing denies the cancellation request, the student is obligated under this Agreement unless the student chooses to buyout the Agreement by submitting a buyout option form to the Housing Office. The student may buyout the Fall/Spring Agreement by paying 50% of the full room rate for the Fall/Spring Agreement. The buyout rate for the Spring semester is a flat rate of $2,534.00. The student may appeal the denial of a cancellation request pursuant to the terms of paragraph 21.

Meal Plans are pre-purchased meals and money (Panther Bucks) to be used at campus dining locations. Meals are used in The Fresh Food Company, the all you care to eat residential restaurant in the student center. Panther Bucks can be used just like cash at any Panther Dining location on either campus. To make it even more convenient, everything is stored on your Panther ID, so no more digging through the couch for spare change or bumming a few bucks from your roommate.

What happens after I submit a Housing Agreement? Housing Office correspondence will occur through your e-mail address. Please include your e-mail address on the Housing Agreement. Once you receive an FIU email address, all correspondence will be sent to your FIU email address. Assigned students will be sent a Housing Invoice that includes their room assignment, room type, costs, payment due date, and other details. The invoice must be returned with payment by the specified deadline. The Housing Agreement is for both the FALL and SPRING semesters. Please note that since space is limited we are unable to guarantee housing. Assignments and Roommates Housing assignments are made for the Fall and Spring semesters, and separately for the Summer A, B or C terms. The Housing Office makes the assignment of space, however, mutual roommate requests are honored if space is available. Assignments are made without regard to race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability. The Housing Office does not guarantee a specific unit, rate, complex, or space assignment. Housing Payment Information Housing fees for each semester are due in full by the established dates provided on the Housing Invoice. Payment plans are also available. We offer several options for the payment your housing fees. Payments can be received: • Online: With an electronic check or credit card (Mastercard, American Express, or Discover) through my.fiu.edu. FIU does not accept Visa. • By mail: Mail it to our Housing Office (check or money orders only).

• In person: At our cashier’s window at the Housing Office (check or money orders only). Students receiving full or partial financial assistance may be eligible to defer their housing payment. Deferment may be requested by submitting a completed Fee Deferral Request form prior to the

payment due date for each semester. There are three types of housing deferments available to FIU students: 1. Financial Aid. Any FIU student who has received a financial aid or a private loan may defer housing fees up to the amount of the award for housing. A copy of your official notification of financial aid award (from the Office of Financial Aid) is due with the Fee Deferral Request form. Tuition and fees are deducted from the award in order to determine the amount available for housing costs. If the award does not cover full fees, only the amount covered can be deferred. The remaining amount is due by the payment deadline provided to the student in a deferral letter. 2. Athletic Scholarships. Students receiving athletic scholarships may defer up to the amount of the award for housing. Any difference between the award and the housing fee assessed is due by the payment deadline provided to the student in a deferral letter. 3. Florida Pre-Paid College Program (FPCP). FPCP students must submit a copy of the Florida Prepaid College Program housing card prior to the payment due date each semester. Any difference between FPCP for housing and the housing fee assessed must be paid by the student by the payment deadline provided to the student in a deferral letter. How to Cancel To initiate a cancellation of the Housing Agreement whether you have been assigned or are still awaiting an assignment, a student must submit a cancellation request form. The Housing Agreement may be canceled if one of the following conditions is met: 1. The student withdraws from the University; 2. The student participates in an academic program that requires residency outside the Dade/Broward area (documentation required);
4. The student graduates and does not continue as an enrolled student in another program; 5. The student gets married after signing the Housing Agreement (documentation required). To obtain an approved cancellation of the Housing Agreement, the student is responsible for providing evidence of the occurrence of the one of the conditions for cancellation above no later than the seventh week of the semester. No refunds shall be made after the seventh week of the semester. Cancellation will not be effective until the information is filed with and verified by the Housing Office. In the event the cancellation is based on the student not enrolling for the following semester, enrollment by the student in the following semester voids the cancellation of the Agreement and the student remains obligated to comply with the terms of the Housing Agreement. If a cancellation request is approved, the University will assess a fee based on the date cancelled. Please review the Terms and Conditions of the Housing Agreement to determine the amount that will be assessed. Approved cancellations on and after the first day of classes are subject to a $500.00 fee. Semester Breaks Students may remain in their room assignment at no additional charge during semester breaks as long as they have a signed Housing Agreement for the next term and all housing fees have been paid. Residential areas remain open during all holiday and vacation periods. Summer Housing Summer housing is available for students enrolled during the summer terms.
