April 2019 Our busy grounds crew is preparing to plant flowers around the Clubhouse ‌ a sure sign that spring has officially arrived! Springtime is one of my favorite seasons, especially here at the Club. Not only do we see the trees and flowers blooming and the greens getting greener, but we also get to see more and more of you spending time at the Clubhouse and on the course. We’re gearing up for a great season ahead and look forward to the Demo Days planned in April, the Highland Game on April 13th and some unique events planned by our Food & Beverage Team including a March Madness Watch Party on April 8th and The Prisoner Wine Dinner on April 10th. This month also brings our popular Easter Egg Hunt and Easter Brunch. See inside this newsletter for more information and please call the Clubhouse if you have any questions.

April is typically the month where golf starts to pick up here at Loch Lloyd as well. Many of you will kick the dust off your clubs and our “snowbirds” will start returning, bringing more action to the Club as the month marches on.

Dear Members, As the Golf Course Maintenance team welcomes back many returning seasonal associates, along with a handful of new team members, we are continuing to be productive on and off the golf course. A recent communication piece has been sent out, outlining many areas of “what to expect” on the property as some of you tee it up for the first time this season. JEFF STEEN DIRECTOR OF GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE jeffs@lochlloyd.com

With a long, drawn-out winter, we’re sure you are anxious for warmer days to enjoy time around the Club and out on the course. Our team has been busy getting the grounds and the course ready for you. Spring aeration, overseeding, sodding, fertilizing, and getting in the first mow of the year make for busy days. Along with daily maintenance practices, we have some exciting small projects coming up including bridge work near #3 green, wrapping a few bunkers with Zoysia grass, and moving the cart path at #8 from the left side to the right to accommodate the new real estate development. Additionally, our work includes building and repairing fences and buttoning up tree work. I’ll send out additional communication pieces overviewing further details as needed.

The Masters at Augusta National is right around the corner, which always seems to symbolize the start of “everything golf.” We’re working hard to turn the course around from the winter months to give you a beautiful product we can all be proud of. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to contact me. My cell phone (831.238.8318) is always best. Sincerely,

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Jeff Steen, CGCS Director of Golf Course Maintenance

dream vacation spot.

Juan Lopez

Q: What is playing on your radio right now? A: Sports radio. Q: What do you do away from work? A: I love spending my downtime with family and friends. Q: What’s your favorite thing about your job? A: The best part is getting “down and dirty” but my absolute FAVORITE part is getting

Even if you have NO artistic ability whatsoever, artist Melissa Weinman with Happy Trees Painting Company makes it super easy by pre-drawing your pet’s image on the canvas ahead of time. Then, you’ll paint the canvas during the event with step-by-step guidance from Melissa. Don’t worry … with Melissa’s expert tutelage, you’ll be amazed at the finished painting that you’ll take home and treasure.

Enjoy a glass of house wine, beer or well cocktail during class, on us! Member Charge Bar available all evening! $55++ per person

(includes class, take-home painted canvas, and a glass of house wine, beer or well cocktail to enjoy during class) All attendees must submit a photo of their pet no later than May 15th to allow Melissa time to pre-draw the image on your canvas. Please email your pet’s photo to amye@lochlloyd.com or bring your photograph to the Clubhouse and we’ll scan and email it to Melissa. Only one pet per photo please.

Space is limited to ensure Melissa can assist everyone with their painting so don’t delay … call 816.322.1022 today! A 7-day Cancellation Policy is in effect for this event. Any changes or cancellations to your reservation must be made prior to May 15th. Failure to adhere to this policy will result in applicable charges to your account.

The photos on this page are from classes taught by instructor Melissa Weinman. If they can do it, you can, too!
