DECEMBER HOURS OF OPERATION Golf Shop: 9a to 5p Tuesday-Sunday Practice Facility: 9:30a to 4:30p Tuesday-Sunday FIRST TEE TIMES Tee times will begin one hour after the Golf Shop opens, weather permitting
The posting of scores will officially continue through the month of December, so keep posting those nine and eighteen hole scores. Beginning January 1st, golfers cannot post local scores. Local scores will be inactive until March 1st, when we can again start posting locally. For anyone who travels to warmer climates for the winter or travels for vacation, you are required to post scores if the course you are playing is in an “active” season. Your handicap indexes will continue to update the day after a score is posted even when the round played is not in this area. MARK YOUR CALENDARS – December 8th through 13th Please join us as we host our annual Member Appreciation Sale. We will have our annual sale but it will look a little different than in past years. Rather than having a one-night only sale, it’s been decided to have a week-long sale! There will be extremely great deals and savings on everything in the Golf Shop plus you won’t have to worry about a large crowd. Come spin the “Wheel of Savings” for your discounts on items. See the next page for more information. To help lighten your load during the holidays, the Golf Professionals will provide complimentary gift wrapping on all purchases made in the Golf Shop during the month of December.
See you on the first tee! Sean
CREDIT BOOK BALANCES For our members who have been fortunate enough to accumulate Golf Shop credit from participation in our member events, all credit books must be cleared by December 31st, 2020. As of January 2nd, 2021, all credit book balances will be cleared out. Stop by and take advantage of some of our holiday promotions and sales, or look ahead to next year’s golf season and purchase your golf balls and gloves in advance to use the credits you have earned!
CLUB RE-GRIP SPECIAL During the months of December and January, we will offer a 20% discount when you re-grip your golf clubs at the Golf Shop. We have a wide variety of grips in stock, and if we don’t have the one you prefer, we can order it in for you. This is a great time of the year to get your clubs back to “good-as-new” condition in preparation for the coming golf season. Who knows, maybe you’ll even knock a stroke or two off your scores! Please contact the Golf Shop if you are interested in taking advantage of this offer.

At the time of writing this for the December newsletter, we were experiencing some above average temperatures, below average precipitation and with only one light dusting of snow early in November and minimal frost delays … this all lead to GREAT FALL GOLF as you can see from the pictures on the next page. It was great to see Mr. Watson out on the course in November as he, too, was also able to enjoy a round of fall golf late into the season!
JEFF STEEN, CGCS DIRECTOR OF GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE jeffs@lochlloyd.com
In the photo of #11 green surround complex below, you can see that the turf conditioning leading into winter is excellent. I am extremely proud of the Golf Course Maintenance team for their continued diligence, hard work and commitment to making the golf course the best it can be. We are very pleased with the maintenance standards of the golf course as we enter the winter months, as the course conditioning exceeded expectations. Behind the scenes, the team has started on many projects that had been deferred until the leaves began to fall. The list is long; however, we’ve been able to get a head start on a few items such as:
Recent concrete repairs to cart paths near 15 and 16 tees Detail work along creeks and ponds Extensive overseeding of rough Timely fall cultural practices and necessary applications
On behalf of the entire Golf Course Maintenance team, I want to wish you a joyous and happy holiday season. Please feel free to call (831.238.8318) or email me at jeffs@lochlloyd.com with any questions, comments or concerns. Jeff Steen, CGCS Director of Golf Course Maintenance

Hello Ladies, As most of you know, I am the new LLLGA President. For those of you who may not know me, my husband, Phil, and I have been golf members at The Country Club at Loch Lloyd since 2004 and made Loch Lloyd our home in 2012. I didn’t take up the game of golf until the move and, if you’ve seen me play … you may be relieved to know I have not been playing since 2004! Phil and I have two daughters (Taylor and Abby) and we are all huge KU fans (if you couldn’t tell by my email address). I would like to give a huge shout out to Ruth Newby for her time as LLLGA President and for helping me in the transition. I am excited to work with the new board and chairpersons to make 2021 a great season. We are hoping for things to get back to normal, so we have tentatively scheduled the following events. Please mark your calendar (in pencil for now) and save the dates listed below. We are also working with the Golf Shop to provide a Spring Training Clinic to get us all back into our game as well as a Beginner’s 3-Hole Clinic for those of you wanting to learn the game and become part of the LLLGA. I’ll keep you posted on these events so please make sure to read the LLLGA section of the monthly newsletter to stay “in the know!” Hope you all have a wonderful holiday and a Happy New Year!! Terri

HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE sponsored by the Loch Lloyd Home & Garden Club to benefit Operation Santa!
going on through December 3rd We're proud to partner with the Belton Welfare Association again this year and are asking for donations to help those in need this holiday season. For more than 50 years, the Belton Welfare Association, along with the Belton Park Department, have sponsored this amazing event to make the holidays brighter for families and individuals less fortunate than ourselves. These donations help people
living right here in our own community!
The Loch Lloyd Home & Garden Club is proud to support this effort by placing a collection box in the lobby of the Clubhouse for non-perishable food donations only. Please drop off donations through 1p on Thursday, December 3rd. We also welcome grocery store gift cards as well as checks made payable to the Belton Welfare Association. Please mail or hand-deliver gift cards/checks to one of the Home & Garden Club representatives listed below. Gift certificates/gift cards or checks must be received by December 3rd. THANK YOU for making the holidays a little brighter for those less fortunate.

Throughout 2020, in an effort to lighten the burden that came with meeting food and beverage minimums, the Club made the decision to postpone these requirements and allow any remaining balance to carry over to the forthcoming quarter. This policy will continue through this year; however, any remaining unspent minimum balance needs to be spent by the end of 2020 or fourth quarter, depending on your type of membership and last name. Annual Social & Annual Dining Members Members have a quarterly food and beverage minimum which needs to be spent by the end of business on December 31, 2020. Full Golf & Sechrest Members Members have a quarterly food and beverage minimum, based on the last name of the primary member, which must be spent by the end of business on the following dates: Last name A-G: December 31, 2020 Last name H-N: January 31, 2021 Last name O-Z: February 28, 2021 You’ll find your unspent minimum on your monthly statement. As a reminder, only the net price of food and/or beverage applies to your minimum, not including tax or service fee. All food and/or beverages purchased for in-Club dining or take-out service applies toward your minimum. Bottles of wine or liquor also apply toward your minimum (and make great holiday gifts).
We are proud to feature CLONTARF’S TRINITY PACK IRISH WHISKEY throughout the month of December. These unique bottles actually “break” apart to create three 200ml bottles of Clontarf Single Malt, Reserve and Classic Blend. $28

Although cold weather may cause you to want to hibernate for the next few months, I urge you to keep moving. Research shows that exercise can help chase away those winter blues and improve your mood by releasing serotonin and dopamine … the “feel-good” endorphins. Exercise boosts your immune system, gives you more energy and helps you sleep better, too. Whether you take a brisk walk, join a class at the Fitness Center or workout online … keep moving!
LANCE DARLING FITNESS CENTER DIRECTOR lanced@lochlloyd.com Hours of Operation Open daily 5a to 10p with key fob access
Another way to keep moving and have fun is with a Total Golf Conditioning class. We introduced Total Golf Conditioning to our Club five years ago to help golfers and non-golfers of all ages improve their quality of life and their golf game. With a focus on flexibility, mobility, strength, balance and joint-friendly cardio, this class (referred to as “Happy Hour”) offers support, accountability, community and, most importantly … results! You don’t have to be great to get started but you have to get started to be great! Members Katie & Harper Chaffee have this to say about the class: “Great energy and camaraderie to restore the body and mind. It refuels our tank every week!” Classes are held Saturdays from 9:15a-10:15a and Mondays from 5:45p-6:45p. For information, please contact Joni Van Horn at joniv@lochlloyd.com or call Joni at 913.226.4688. Our Monday and Wednesday YOGA classes are changing from in-person classes to Zoom classes starting this month. The Zoom ID and passcode to participate in these classes may be found on the next page.
