February 2019 Despite the chilly temperatures, the Golf Course and the Clubhouse look beautiful covered in a blanket of white. We’ll get through the short month of February and then springtime is just around the corner. In the meantime, we’ll keep the Clubhouse fireplaces blazing and welcoming so that you may relax and enjoy a cozy dinner or attend one of February’s events.
CHRIS BREMS PRESIDENT
As a reminder, starting March 1st, the Clubhouse and Golf Facilities will be closed on Mondays and open on Tuesdays. Weekly specials will change nights, too. We’ll send our 2019 Calendar soon to help you keep track of these changes and so that you may see all the Club events scheduled for this year.
The Member Experience Survey, which was sent out last month, closes February 8th. If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to provide your feedback, please do so. Your input matters and your suggestions help us improve amenities and services. Thank you to those who have already taken the time to complete this important questionnaire. Stay warm and please come visit us at the Clubhouse soon!

As I sit here writing the golf component of the monthly newsletter, I look out my window and see there is 10 inches of snow covering the Loch Lloyd landscape. It looks really pretty but it sure feels like we won’t be golfing anytime soon. Many of you are probably now laughing inside as you sit on a deck in a warm weather golf destination … happy that you are there. I must admit, I’m a little envious of all of you.
SEAN HANNA DIRECTOR OF GOLF seanh@lochlloyd.com
This is the time of year when the Golf Operations team works diligently on calendars, booklets, flyers and all of the documents that you see throughout the year. The annual Golf Event Guide is almost complete. This year we will be emailing a copy to each of you. The Golf Event Guide will include the golf calendar and specific event details for each of Loch Lloyd’s golf events. This is a great tool for you to have all of the information you need at your fingertips. You will also be emailed our Club Information Guide, packed with relevant information such as staff email addresses and phone numbers, operational hours and more. Look for both these publications to arrive in your in-box in mid-February. The Masters countdown has begun … 70 days and counting (depending on when you are reading this)! Enjoy the month of February — wherever you are! See you on the first tee,

GHIN Handicap System Approaches “In-Season” Mode The GHIN Handicap System will soon return to “in-season” mode as of March 1st. With this said, you may begin posting all scores either in the Golf Shop or online, starting the first of March. We will remain in the active season through November 14th, 2019. One question the Golf Operations team frequently gets asked regarding handicapping is, “Should I post this score?” The answer, in any case, is YES – you should absolutely post each and every score played in medal play or match play formats. The handicap system works its best, and in the intended manner in which it was created, when each player posts every score. When you only post “the good scores,” your handicap is artificially low. This will make it nearly impossible to play “to your handicap” in addition to making yourself the partner that no one would want to play with in a competition. When you post scores that are higher than you actually achieved, giving you an artificially higher handicap, this makes you a “well-known” member for all the wrong reasons. This also causes you to lose your golf mates quickly. We ask that all members post each and every score from your rounds. Nine-hole scores can and should be posted as well. Should you have any questions on the handicap system, or need assistance in utilizing the handicap system, please contact the Golf Professionals.
February Guest Play Special Rate
Throughout the month of February, we will offer a special rate for all guests of members. Bring a guest during the month of February and the rate will be $50 plus tax. The rate includes greens fee and cart fee. This is a great value considering the weekday guest fee is $80 per player plus cart and the weekend fee is $100 plus cart.
2019 Prepaid Guest Packages
We are excited to welcome back an excellent opportunity for our members to bring friends, clients and family members out to play golf at the Club at a substantial savings. Prepaid Guest Packages may be used throughout the 2019 season. Here are the options available:
10-guest package ......... $750 + tax ($75 per guest) 20-guest package ......... $1,300 + tax ($65 per guest) Regular guest fees are $80 on weekdays and $100 on weekends.
The “Scotty” 2019 Mark your calendars! The 2019 edition of the “Scotty” will be played on Friday and Saturday, May 17th and 18th. The Calcutta party will take place on Thursday, May 16th. For those who have never participated in the “Scotty,” this is a great event. Sign up with another member and join us for a fun-filled two days of golf. Look for more information to be emailed with specifics of the event in the next month or so.
Prepaid Guest Packages do not include golf cart use. If you choose to use a golf cart, the regular cart rental rates will apply. The Golf Shop will track all use of Prepaid Guest Packages. Prepaid Guest Packages may be used for play on any day of the week (weekday or weekend) and must be used in the same year in which they are purchased (they may not be carried over to the next year). Pr epaid Guest Packages are non-transferable; they will not apply to member/guest events or member events in general nor may they be applied to group outings or events. Prepaid Guest Packages will be on sale March 1st through May 31st. If you would like to purchase a Prepaid Guest Package, please contact the Golf Shop.

A little cold weather isn’t keeping us down! The Fitness Center is bustling with activity as members escape the frigid temps and opt to keep warm by getting up and moving! Both class attendance and facility usage have increased the past month, largely due to the weather. By opening the Center at 5a and closing at 10p, we strive to provide everyone an opportunity to take advantage of the facilities offered at The Fitness Center. LANCE DARLING FITNESS CENTER DIRECTOR lanced@lochlloyd.com
As a reminder, if the Belton School District cancels school, classes will not be held at The Fitness Center. That being said, we altered this policy at the end of January when wind chills were dangerously low and schools were cancelled. If we do deviate from our standard closure policy, we will let you know in advance, as we did via email in this rare instance. In last month’s newsletter we announced that Thai Yoga Massage with Becky Stevens had returned to The Fitness Center. Becky has another exciting addition to our calendar with a couples Thai Yoga Massage Workshop on Sunday, February 10th. Please see details on the next page and be sure to RSVP. As always, thank you for your support. Please stay safe and warm! Lance Darling Fitness Center Director

Thai Yoga Massage with Becky Stevens
“Thai Massage” is western slang for Thai Yoga. Thai Yoga differs from massage therapy in that it is a traditional healing system combining acupressure, Indian Ayurvedic principles and assisted yoga postures. Sessions are done on a massage table or yoga mat. Clients wear stretchy workout clothing and remain fully clothed. Sessions include muscle compression to warm up the body and loosen the joints, followed by an assisted yoga stretch for 60 minutes. Thai Yoga is never painful and only uses gentle techniques, working with your own body’s abilities and limitations.
THE FITNESS CENTER HOURS OF OPERATION: Open daily 5a to 10p with Key Fob access
Benefits of Thai Yoga: Reduction of back pain Relief of joint stiffness and muscle pain Increased flexibility and range of motion Boosted energy and decreased anxiety Improved immune function Thai Yoga Practitioner, Becky Stevens, initially received her Thai training in Kansas City at KC Fitness Link. Several years later, she traveled to Thailand and received additional training with several expert instructors. Becky offers 60-minute sessions at $70 each on Mondays, Thursdays or Fridays at The Fitness Center. To schedule an appointment or for more information, please contact Becky at 816.405.1878 or beckys@lochlloyd.com.

Total Golf Conditioning Gary Player turns 83 years young this year. His enthusiasm and passion for staying golf fit and physically fit is admirable. Gary believes we must continue to train the mind and body to stay balanced, flexible and strong, regardless of age or limitations. Join the Total Golf Conditioning Tribe on Tuesdays at 5:30p and Saturdays at 9:15a to improve your score and your health. Sessions focus on the most important “club” in your bag … your own body and mind, and include all aspects of health and golf: 30 minutes of Total Golf Conditioning (stretching, balance, strength, cardio, core) and 30 minutes of Core Yoga (stretching, balance, core, mindfulness).
Testimonial about Total Golf Conditioning:
“When I first started doing Yoga for Golfers, I was struggling with my knees. It was difficult to walk down stairs without holding the grab rail. Joni was patient with me as I was not very flexible and didn’t have good balance. I have been doing Total Golf Conditioning for two years now and can easily trot down the stairs, hands-free; my balance is greatly improved.” Jim Turner, Golf Enthusiast
