INSIDE THIS ISSUE:

Dear Member, Congratulations to Bob & Randy Williams for winning the 2017 White Alloe! I have watched these two compete for years and to see them finally breaking through was a joy to behold. I’m proud to be an American! The famous lyrics of Lee Greenwood resonate especially on this very special Fourth of July weekend. Whether you are celebrating away from The National or plan to spend the whole weekend with us, please be safe, enjoy your family time and celebrate this fabulous country we are all so lucky to call home. We have many fun events planned for this weekend including our 2nd Annual 5K “Run for Fun,” Patriotic Parade, Street Fair, Pool Parties, a Cookout and … of course … Fireworks. This year promises to be even bigger and better than last year! Thank you, as always, for your loyalty to the Club!

Dear Members, July is here and we are officially halfway through 2017! I don’t know about you, but this year is flying by. We have seen a record number of rounds and increased member participation in all events so far this year! We want to thank all of our members for their continued support. In June we held our annual member-guest event, The White Alloe. Bob Williams and his son, Randy fought off some stiff competition to take home the title. They both played spectacularly all weekend and are enjoying wearing the coveted coonskin caps. Thank you to all who participated. We have had multiple “hole-in-ones” on hole #14 recently to include Terry Younghanz (twice!), Billy Roberts and Kevin Prenger. Congratulations to all! Hope to see you at the Club soon. Dear Members, I hope everyone is enjoying their summer! The Golf Course Maintenance team is working diligently to keep all the turf grass as healthy as possible as we head into the most challenging stretch of the year. July usually brings high temperatures which are very stressful for the greens and rough. The plants must exert a lot of energy to stay healthy and vibrant. Any time we can get a break from the heat, it is a much-needed relief not only for the plant but for the Maintenance team as well. This month we will be performing various cultural practices to the Zoysia grass in an effort to keep the tees and fairways as healthy as possible. These practices will not be intrusive to playability and signs of aerification should be minimal.

Spencer Roberts Director of Golf Course Maintenance spencerr@fivestarlifestyles.com

Have a safe holiday weekend. I look forward to seeing you on the course! Sincerely, Spencer Roberts Director of Golf Course Maintenance

A welcoming view of #7 as long as you stay out of the traps!
