June 2018 Newsletter

Summer activities have officially started! We are seeing more and more of you on the course, hearing the sounds of children’s laughter wafting from the pool, seeing more action on the tennis courts and serving more members and their guests as they enjoy the Club’s outdoor dining and seating areas. We hope you’ll have many opportunities throughout the summer months to enjoy your Club. Memberships are picking up (as they tend to do this time of year) and we are delighted to welcome so many new faces to the Loch Lloyd family. We have a busy month ahead including the return of Pickleball, breakfast with Dad on Father’s Day and our highly anticipated Men’s Member/Guest Tournament … The Whummle. We’ve also planned a stellar line-up to celebrate Independence Day at the Club with our Bourbon & Bacon Fest on July 2nd and Rockin’ BBQ & Fireworks on J uly 3r d. All of these events ar e detailed within this newsletter. We hope you’re able to join us for some (or all) of the fun!

It’s hard to believe that June has arrived. It seems like just yesterday it was freezing cold and no one was playing golf. Now, everything is green and golf is happening everywhere.

SEAN HANNA DIRECTOR OF GOLF seanh@lochlloyd.com GOLF SHOP 816.322.2117 JUNE GOLF SHOP HOURS OF OPERATION 6a to 8p FIRST TEE TIMES Tee times will begin 1½ hours after the Golf Shop opens, weather permitting

Let’s begin by congratulating the 2018 Scotty Champions, John Lovell and Henry Heimsoth. If you didn’t stick around or weren’t here to witness the Shootout, you missed a great event. The Lovell/Heimsoth team grinded out their victory over Mike Bamburg and Tyler Cundith. The two teams went at it head-to-head for four rounds and there was no shortage of HUGE putts made by both teams. But in the end, Lovell and Heimsoth outlasted their opponents and won their first Scotty jacket. Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s event! Happy Father’s Day in advance to all of the Dads. Enjoy your day! Hopefully it allows you to spend some time at the Club, then at home with the family … maybe even some US Open golf-watching from your favorite recliner or couch. Let’s get ready to Whummle! The Annual Men’s Member/Guest will take place from Wednesday, June 20th through Saturday June 23rd. The Whummle is always a fun event and it’s a great time to showcase the Club to all of our guests. As usual, Executive Chef Eric has a great menu on tap and we are very proud to announce our partnership with Martin City Brewery. Look for The Whummle Wheat beer in the 19th Hole throughout the month of June. See you on the first tee, Sean

KEITH KOHLASCH DIRECTOR OF GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE

We have all heard the saying, “If you don’t like the weather here, just wait a minute and it will change.” This saying has never made more sense based on the weather we’ve experienced the last month. The course transitioned from brown and dormant to green and thriving as illustrated in the photos on the right. Much like the changing temperatures, the Golf Course Maintenance Team has been very busy transitioning from spring to summer. We removed spring annuals and replaced them with Sunpatiens around the Clubhouse entrance, along Country Club Drive, above the Loch Lloyd sign on Holmes, at the #1 tee and around #18 green. We also added a little color behind the 16th greens complex to further enhance what is potentially the nicest finishing stretch of golf holes in Kansas City.

April 15th to the right of #4

We would also like to keep you up-to-date on some changes taking place around the Club:  The walkways in the parking lot leading to the

Clubhouse will be replaced starting May 29th with work completed by week’s end, weather permitting. We apologize for any inconvenience these repairs may cause and ask that you be careful around these areas.

2. After receiving a few comments about difficulty finding accurate yardages with range finders, we purchased new prisms for our flag sticks which are located above the flag (see photo below).

May 15th to the right of #4

We look forward to seeing you on the course! Best regards, Keith Repair all ball marks … yours plus 2 more. New Prisms for our Flag Sticks

Fill divots in fairways and on tee boxes. Keep cart traffic inside the fairways and follow the entry/exit posts as much as possible. Pay attention to cart traffic directional signs which are strategically placed. Page 5

LANCE DARLING FITNESS CENTER DIRECTOR lanced@lochlloyd.com

FITNESS CENTER HOURS OF OPERATION: Open daily 5a to 10p with Key Fob access

We’re excited to announce that your Fitness Center will be going through a few renovations and enhancements this month. We’ll be adding NEW rubber flooring in the Water Rower Room during which time the room will be closed for approximately two days. We’re also adding NEW wood flooring in the Yoga and Group X Room. This will be a darker, higher quality wood floor than what we currently have in place and the room will be closed for about one week. We will send out email updates to let you know when these upgrades will be taking place. At the present time, no classes will be cancelled due to the renovations and all trainers are planning to hold classes either outdoors or in the other half of the gym. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to improve your Fitness Center. Water Aerobics, taught by Dawn Adams, is the most r efr eshing way to exer cise dur ing the hot summer months! Classes run through September 1st on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7a to 7:45a. The class fee for members is $65 per month; non-members pay $90 per month. Please note that there will be no Water Aerobics classes on June 4th, 6th or 8th. Classes will resume on Monday, June 11th. Total Yo-Golf Conditioning A great golf game requires more than a well-practiced swing. Consistently manipulating the ball’s flight requires balance, flexibility, mobility and agility from head to toe. Total Yoga Golf Conditioning is a fun way to address and improve your body — both physically and mentally. Participants use golf clubs and other fitness apparatus to “Par-Tee during Happy Hours.” Most participants who attend these sessions do see an improvement in their performance on the course and in their general health parameters. To join class, please call or text Joni Van Horn, Certified Yoga for Golfers Trainer or email joniv@lochlloyd.com. Keep moving, stay hydrated … and try to get outside to enjoy the beautiful month of June! Lance
