Dear Member, As we enter the last month of 2020, I know I am not alone when I say “good bye and good riddance” to a year riddled with a worldwide pandemic, a heated election, increased anxiety, extreme worry and terrible loss. This holiday season will be unlike any other — to cap off a year that was unlike any other. Instead of wishing you happy holidays, what I really wish for you is warmth, joy and tranquility. I hope you are able to hold on to memories from holidays past and know that things will get better. I sincerely thank you for sticking with us through this incredibly difficult year. Your support, coupled with an amazing ownership group and a dedicated team of hard-working associates, humbles me and makes me truly thankful and grateful.

Dear Members, It’s hard to believe that we are closing in on the end of 2020, but I think we would all agree that putting 2020 behind us is a good thing. I am looking forward to 2021 as we continue to find ways to improve The National. Below is a list of tasks that are still in progress or just finished as we close out the year as well as a few other items that will be going on throughout the winter months. Pre-emerge on all rough and native areas is complete. This is for weed control during the 2021 season. All sod work in rough areas is finished. Roundup will be sprayed on Zoysia in December, weather permitting. This is a post-emergent application for eradication of Poa and other grassy weeds. Creek bed clean-up is underway. Tree management will begin in January. This includes trimming the canopy on all trees located in the rough areas, removal of dead trees (or trees that present a safety hazard) and evaluating trees that cast unwanted shade or restrict air movement in sensitive areas.

There are many manholes throughout the golf course that are buried. The Platte County Regional Sewer District has determined that these need to be located and brought to grade. A private contractor has been hired by PCRSD to do the work and we will be working closely with the contractor to insure that there will be minimal damage to other parts of the golf course during this process. This will be ongoing throughout the winter months and hopefully finished by the beginning of our 2021 golf season. I will keep you posted as this project moves along. That brings me to the end of this newsletter for the 2020 season. Here’s to a healthy and happy holiday season to each and every one of you and a prosperous 2021.

What an amazing response to our Thanksgiving Dinner To-Go this year. With 82 orders, we did the math and determined we served around 600 people! Thank you for allowing us to be part of your celebration! Now that December is upon us, our team will continue to provide weekly specials, speedy to-go service and a safe, sanitized environment for in-Club dining. In addition to regular safety protocols in place, we are under a new ordinance from the Platte County Health Department which limits groups to no more than 10 people for Club dining, whether inside or outside. The ordinance also requires masks worn inside and outside the Clubhouses at all times except when actively eating or drinking. Thank you for adhering to these procedures. If we all work together and play by the rules, we can save lives. It’s as simple as that. While we have traditionally shortened hours of operation for the Dining Room during the winter, we have decided to extend December hours to better serve you (listed below). Remember to place your to-go order no later than 30 minutes prior to closing and don’t forget RESERVATIONS are required. We hate to turn anyone away but, with limited seating due to COVID, we remain vigilant about protecting you and our staff. DECEMBER CLUBHOUSE HOURS: Sunday 11a-7p Monday Closed Tuesday 11a-7p Wednesday 11a-7p Thursday 11a-8p Friday 11a-8p Saturday 11a-8p Thank you for your continued support. We wish you and your family a safe, festive and happy holiday season! Jack Meyers Director of Food & Beverage jackm@thenationalgolfclub.com

Purple Rose Members: Your annual minimum must be spent by the end of business on December 31, 2020.
