A Note

FROM THE CLUB PRESIDENT Hello November. I encourage you not to wait until the fourth Thursday of the month to sit with family and friends. Make everyday a day of Thanksgiving. As hard as it is to believe, fall has started trending behind us and we begin our steps towards the holiday season. There were great events during October and the last two months of the year will parade nothing less! From Gobbler Bingo, to Thanksgiving Brunch, we leap ahead into December with our Holiday Lighting Ceremony, a Wine Dinner featuring Duckhorn, a Pop-Up Christmas Performance by the notorious Loch Smiths and much more to officially tie the bow on 2023. I truly hope you consider spending a part of your holidays at one of the Club hosted activities. As our ownership reminds us “It is not the Country Club that makes the Members, it is the Members that make the Country Club” and having you join us, making memories with your families and friends, your neighbors, and fellow members is the spirit the Clubhouse wants to exude. We want our members to think of the Clubhouse as an extension of their home - a place to celebrate, entertain, and welcome others. If there is anything we can do to help improve your experiences at the Club, please let us know. My door is literally always open. As we approach the holidays, I want to thank the team at Loch Lloyd. Our associates spend holidays, weekends, and celebrations away from their own families to ensure our members are taken care of. The sacrifice they make during the holidays is something I appreciate and respect greatly.

Please welcome our new Golf Members Garrett & Madison Fugate James & Jill Simaras Boston Dickerson Calaway McQueeny

OPERATIONS Sean Hanna, Director of Golf

November has arrived and with that, the 2023 tournament season has come to an end. Thank you to all that participated in this year’s events and congratulations to the lucky and skilled competitors that took home victories and bragging rights. We are beginning to work through the 2024 event calendar and will have a great variety of events for you to enjoy next season. While the colder weather is sure to set in soon, I encourage you not to hang up your golf clubs for the year. The golf course is in fantastic condition and there are sure to be many great fall days ahead of us before the snow begins to fall. Tee times now begin daily at 9:00am each day and will extend to 10:00am in December. The 10:00am starting tee time will remain in effect until the end of February 2024. Please check ForeTees for daily updates on the weather forecast to be advised of any potential frost delays or inclement weather. Also note, in preparation for colder weather, the ice/water dispenser will be removed from the Comfort Station until next spring. This is done annually to prevent the water lines in the machines from freezing. A huge shout out to the Loch Lloyd Men’s Bigley Cup team. The men brought home the Championship after defeating the National Golf Club of KC. This is the first Bigley Cup Championship for our men, and we look forward to defending the title in 2024. The Loch Lloyd Ladies Team Play squad also brought home a trophy this year. The ladies captured the first place Team Net trophy and narrowly missed the Team Gross trophy. Congratulations to all our ladies that participated in Team Play. A special shout out filled with congrats to Lori McConnell, the 2023 Player of the year in the Loch Lloyd Ladies Golf Association! Lori won the Player of the Year in 2022 as well and this latest victory makes her the first to win back-to-back Player of the Year awards. We are proud of you, Lori! Beginning Tuesday, November 1st the Practice Facility setup will transition to our winter setup. All golf balls will be set up on synthetic mats rather than the zoysia grass teeing areas. We make this transition because the zoysia grass has gone dormant and is no longer able to recover from divots. Our zoysia grass teeing areas will open Spring 2024. 4

GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT Grant Suderman Dear Members, On October 30th, the Loch Lloyd golf maintenance team will resume installing drainage to zoysia grass fairways. This continues our commitment to installing drainage in all fairways to dry out low water holding areas which lead to turf decline. Eliminating these low-lying saturated areas will provide enhanced turf conditions and playability. We also expect to minimize traffic restrictions with drier conditions. Phase 1 & 2 of this 5-phase project began in March with drainage being installed on holes #1,3,9,17 & 18. These holes were prioritized due to having extensive problematic areas and/or traffic flow limitations. The remaining three phases of this project were planned to continue in late October to limit disruption to golf. The phases are listed below and we expect to be completed by the close of 2023. Phase 1 – Holes 1,3,9 Completed Phase 2 – Holes 17,18 Completed Phase 3 – Holes 4, 6 Starting October 30th Phase 4 – Holes 7,8,10,12 Phase 5 – Holes 14,15,16 DRAINAGE BEING INSTALLED ON HOLE #17 THIS PAST MARCH Thank you for your patience as we perform course enhancement projects. This short-term disruption will provide long-term benefits and improved sustainable conditions. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. Best,

-Grant Suderman

Now that I have your attention. Always looking for ways to engage our members and make the newsletter entertaining and FUN, we started a “FIND THE MEMBER” number a couple of months ago. The objective and “rules” of this seek & find were outlined in my portion of the September newsletter. Basically, each month we have hidden a member number in the newsletter. If you find your member number - you win a HUGE prize. Like HUGE... like not a Ferrari huge but still - really good stuff. Guess what? No one has found their number. To be honest, we don’t even make it difficult to find. So I ask... is anyone looking? If you find your digits, call our Club Concierge Ciara to claim your prize.

LLLGA INFORMATION We are officially done with LLLGA golf events for 2023! Many thanks go to the ladies who joined us for the final event, dinner and association meeting on October 11th. We were fortunate to have had decent weather for our closing day – especially given the rainout many of us experienced at the Brigadoon a few weeks before. Everybody who attended our closing day dinner walked away a winner, some with a hundred-dollar bill in hand! I’d like to give shout-outs to the winners of our LLLGA special events: MOST BIRDIES OR BETTER 18 Holes: Sherie Bartlett, Melinda Baty, Linda Enright, Julie Farrell, Peggy Frazier 9 Holes: Kylie Nicholas MOST CHIP-INS 18 Holes: Pam Hamer, Marsha Mock 9 Holes: Laurie Lind, Andrea Mackay DREAM GAME - THE TOTALING OF THE BEST SCORE ACHIEVED FOR EACH HOLE THROUGHOUT THE SEASON Gross (Even): Linda Enright, Peggy Frazier, Patty Merlie Net (-22): Amanda Schlup MOST IMPROVED Eileen Joyce In addition, the winners of club sponsored events were recognized: Club Champion: Kylie Nicholas Net Club Champion: Patty Merlie Individual Match Play: Amy Walleck Partner Challenge: Sherie Bartlett and Linda Enright Player of the Year: Lori McConnell I also want to give a special shout-out to all the ladies who represented Loch Lloyd in interclub Team Play events. As a result of some good playing, the Loch Lloyd ladies secured first place net, besting six other clubs for that honor. We would be remiss to not thank Pat Hersma, our Team Play captain, for her diligence in coordinating the play days and putting together teams for this friendly interclub competition. For those of you who remain in KC for the winter, we plan to once again announce some pop-up lunch and happy hour events to keep the LLLGA connections going strong throughout the off season. Keep an eye open for those announcements in emails and the newsletter. We look forward to seeing you there!

NOVEMBER AT THE FITNESS CENTER Unfortunately, winter weather is right around the corner. The Fitness Center will follow the Belton School District closure policy for inclement weather. If the Belton School District does not have school the Fitness Center will not have classes on that day. GOLF FITNESS - YOGA FOR GOLF CONDITIONING Imagine your golf swing is like a machine. If one part of the machine isn't working right, the whole thing can break down. Often, we invest in expensive clubs and lessons for a solution, and we don't consider that our body is the most important club we have. Exercises that improve balance, hip mobility, functional strength, and rotation through your mid-back will give you the best chance to consistently create a more efficient swing and proper sequencing. If you are looking for a fun way to improve your body and your swing, Yoga for Golf Conditioning is for you! Group classes are offered on Monday and Wednesday at 5:45 pm and Saturday at 9:15 am. Exercises and stretches are designed to improve mobility, strength, balance and cardiovascular health. You don't have to be a golfer to benefit, as the movement will also improve your overall quality of life.
