As the calendar enters October, it’s time to start winding down on golf events and time to start thinking about the upcoming holidays. With the exception of a few season-long matches still yet to be played, it is hard to believe that the golf season is already over … it seems like is just started not so long ago.

JEFF STEEN DIRECTOR OF GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE jeffs@lochlloyd.com Dear Members, What an honor and privilege it has been to have joined the team here at The Country Club at Loch Lloyd and FiveStar Lifestyles. As your new Director of Golf Maintenance, I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to this community and build upon the excellence that has been established. My family and I have just moved here from California, where I was blessed to spend the past 15 years with the Pebble Beach Company. My wife, Crystal, is a born-and-raised Missouri girl and is absolutely thrilled to be home. Together we have a 16-month-old son, Matteus, and we are expecting our second child in December. As we cool off and head toward the end of the golf season, a few areas of focus for our team will be overseeding the green surrounds and high-traffic areas; applying fertilizers on both the Tom Watson and Sechrest; and, as fairways make the turn toward dormancy, it is the perfect time to make proper agronomic applications. In the brief time that I’ve been here, the Golf Course Maintenance team has been working hard each day with preparations for many tournaments, including the Women’s Invitational. We have a great team of associates working on the course, so please give them a wave and thanks in passing. I’m looking forward to focusing on attention to detail. I have high expectations for myself and expect the same from my team. The owners, members and guests of Loch Lloyd deserve nothing less. Attention to detail starts at our maintenance facility. Our team plans to clean up the facility and host an open house so that anyone who is interested in learning more about our “behind-the-scenes” operations and what is involved in making and keeping your property great, may share this experience. I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting many of you already and look forward to getting to know and work with all our members and staff. Thank you for the warm and gracious welcome! Jeff Steen, CGCS Director of Golf Course Maintenance

RUTH NEWBY PRESIDENT LOCH LLOYD LADIES GOLF ASSOCIATION As the season comes to a close, we look ahead to sunny days, moderate temperatures and fall golf. October brings about three final events: Informal Guest Day, the 9-Holers “Golf of Mexico” celebration and Loch Lloyd Ladies Golf Association Closing Day. We encourage everyone to mark their calendars and enjoy these final golf get-togethers. It’s always enjoyable to “tie a bow” around the year, sharing one last round of golf, dinner and awards presentations. As always, please sign up on ForeTees. See you on the course! Ruth
TEAM PLAY
Beth Nichols led this year’s Loch Lloyd team to a resounding 1st place victory as they competed with eight area golf clubs:
The captain is required to take the ladies with the lowest handicap available at the time of the match. Team members displayed exceptional golf skills, securing the lowest gross scores for the season with the traveling Team Play trophy finding a new home in our trophy case!
These ladies will enjoy their last 2018 gathering, themed “Golf of Mexico” on October 11th. Bonnie Turner and Kathy Karst head up this group of active, enthusiastic and eager-to-learn ladies. Have fun!

Peggy Rieman and Pam Hamer, co-chairs for the 2018 Brigadoon Classic, treated members and their guests to an action-packed, fun-filled three days. The overall winners and the 2018 Brigadoon Champions was the team of Susan Hopkins and guest Dee Robertson! The full winner’s list appears below. It may be cooling off outside but things are heating up in the Clubhouse as we put finishing touches on our fall events. When the cooler weather keeps you off the course, we want to make sure you have plenty of opportunity for gathering at the Club to enjoy fellow members and experience unique and memorable events. Our busy month starts with Pinot & Pork featuring culinary creations with pork as the star, paired with nine Pinot varietals. If beer is more to your liking, you won’t want to miss our Oktoberfest with seasonal beer tastings, German fare and a live Polka Band! We’ve got a few events just for the ladies this month including Ladies Night Out at VanBrock and the ever-popular Witches Who Wine (and Brew). We round out the month with a one-of-a-kind event held at the Sechrest Hole #2 Bunker with firepits ablaze and heavy appetizers paired with wines from Marietta Cellars. Complete details on all of our October events may be found in this issue. As always, if you have any questions or would like to make reservations, please call the Clubhouse.
