Although summer is brimming with activity at the Club, I welcome the coming of autumn and the changes it brings. I’m looking forward to crisp (hopefully cooler) weather and the leaves changing colors. And, of course, there’s nothing better than fall golf in the Midwest!

CHRIS BREMS PRESIDENT

I’m also looking forward to welcoming our new Director of Golf Course Maintenance into the Loch Lloyd family. Jeff Steen will begin his career with The Country Club at Loch Lloyd on September 17th. I must commend the hard-working associates of the Golf Course Maintenance Team for the superb job they do every day to keep the course in top-notch condition. With Jeff at the helm of this incredible team, there’s no limit to what we can achieve as we work toward our goal of making Loch Lloyd the very best golf course in the Kansas City area. We hope to see you at some of the many events we have planned for this month.

Our annual ladies member/guest tournament, The Brigadoon Classic, starts off with practice rounds on September 19th and concludes on September 21st. Folds of Honor seeks to meet this need by providing educational scholarships to military families of those who have been killed or disabled while on active duty. Over 85% of all donated funds go directly to the recipients, an efficiency that is rarely achieved in the world of charity. Folds of Honor has provided more than 10,000 scholarships since its inception in 2007. Year-to-date, nearly 3,000 scholarships have been supported. For more information about Folds of Honor, please visit their website: www.foldsofhonor.org.

Hard Work Pays Off! Last month I was privileged to accompany one of my students, National member Tim Barry, to Eugene, Oregon after he medaled and earned a spot to compete in the prestigious USGA Senior Amateur Championship. This event is host to the top players in the country over 55 years of age.

Two rounds of stroke play determine the top 64 players, followed by match play. Tim teed off on Saturday, August 25th for the first qualifying round. I was proud to be there to help coach Tim get ready for this exciting event and amazing opportunity. This is what happens when you set goals and tackle them ‌ even at age 58! Well done Tim!

As we head into the last quarter of the year, your Food & Beverage Team is busy planning holiday events. That’s right … much like retail stores displaying holiday merchandise months in advance, we have to work ahead to ensure that events are planned perfectly, down to the smallest detail. It’s not too early to make arrangements for your company or family holiday gathering at the Club. We already have some holiday events in the books and dates will fill up quicker than you know! Please contact Amy Edsall, Senior Member Events Leader, at amye@lochlloyd.com to get your next event in the books. We’re making some exciting changes to our Wednesday Pot o’ Gold Buffet. After a strategy meeting with Executive Chef Eric Barkley, we decided to keep things fresh (and fun) by changing the weekly offerings for the buffet to allow our talented Chefs some culinary creativity. Not to worry … Chef’s Fried Chicken will STILL be the headliner on the first Wednesday of each month! However, you will see some variety and themes throughout the rest of the month. See our September Pot o’ Gold menu themes below and don’t forget to join us for dinner. The pot is currently over $1,600! John Geiger
