September 2021 at The Country Club at Loch Lloyd

Page 1

Dear Member, As we head into September, I look forward to crisp (hopefully cooler) weather and the leaves changing colors. And, of course, there’s nothing better than fall golf at The Country Club at Loch Lloyd! The Club has attracted many new members this year. We thought it fitting to host a Member Mingler so that everyone has an opportunity to welcome and get to know the newest members of our Loch Lloyd family. I hope you’ll plan to join us at the Clubhouse on Wednesday, September 8th from 5p to 9p for a gathering, complete with live music and lots of great food. See page 7 for more details and please RSVP. While we have new members to welcome, the end of summer signals the time we have to say goodbye to our seasonal staff. These young men and women have done a tremendous job serving our members at the Pool, the Snack Bar, in the Clubhouse and in Golf Operations this summer. We would like to thank each of them for their energy and enthusiasm and hope to see many return to our Club next year.

Chris Brems, President chrisb@lochlloyd.com

Please welcome our newest members!

Football season, baseball playoffs, PGA playoffs, apple cider doughnuts and did I mention that September is without question one of the nicest months of the year to play golf in Kansas City? So come on out and enjoy the best golf course in the area and bring your friends along as well. The golf course is very busy in September with Club events, daily play and yes, outside events. As our golf calendar winds down, the biggest ladies’ event of the year takes place this month. Our annual Ladies’ Member/Guest, The Brigadoon Classic, is a fun-filled event that tees off with practice rounds on September 23rd and concludes on September 25th. If you would like to play, please call the Golf Shop for details.

As you may know, Jeff Steen recently took a new position at Big Cedar in Branson. It was a pleasure and true learning experience working with Jeff the past three years and I look forward to continuing and enhancing the agronomic plan for our beautiful course and grounds. The fall edition of the QuarterlyInsight has been sent via email. This quarterly report highlights some of our GCM projects, plans and people to keep you up-to-date and in-the-know. GRANT SUDERMAN SUPERINTENDENT grants@lochlloyd.com

The cooler temperatures of the fall provide ideal conditions to start cultural practices such as sodding and seeding. Labor Day is a general target start date to allow the seed and sod enough time to mature and root down as we head into the winter months. Listed below are a few of our main goals this fall:

Members in our group classes will tell you how beneficial it is to exercise with others. It’s more motivating and much more fun! If you’re tired of working out at home by yourself or weary from driving to and from the gym, join us at the Fitness Center on Tuesday and Thursday mornings starting September 7th for new Sculpt Fitness classes with Instructor, Nicole Tweedie.
