Nothing worse than being exhausted at the end of the day and having to put up a tent after midnight in the dark. There are also gems to be mined at the beginning of the day. Last year before all the big acts were starting to play, Ida Maria went absolutely crazy during her song "Oh My God" and accidentally ripped her shirt off with the mic stand. If that happened to Jay-Z at night - it should would not have been as exciting! So we shall start off with: 1. Kate Miller-Heidke - 12:30 pm - sort of by default as she begins the festival unopposed. Kate has a good voice with some songs with a little sass. Also a song about Facebook. I imagine she will put on a good show. 2. Faceoff one: Alana Grace vs. Jets Overhead Alana Grace: Rock-pop lady singer. Evanescense with less attitude and music? Jets Overhead: Low-key lady and guy singers. Spacey (like Kevin, not Pluto) music in background. Nice sound. Winner: Jets Overhead - 1 pm 3. Faceoff two: P.O.S. vs. a beer P.O.S.: Rapper from Massachusetts. Saw P.O.S. last year early in the day at Coachella and it was just fine but nothing special. Beer: Around 1:30 pm in the day, perhaps a perfect time to get out of the sun and grab a Heineken. Winner: Beer. 4. DJ Lance Rock - 2:15 pm - the DJ for Yo Gabba Gabba! Fingers crossed for some costumes... 5. Wale - 2:35 pm - with a walk through Iglu & Hartly's set on the way over to the main stage. 6. Faceoff three: Avett Brothers vs. Sleigh Bells Sleigh Bells: Led by an energetic female singer, Sleigh Bells has a very catchy songs and definitely

keeps the crowd going while performing live. The Avett Brothers: I just don't think the Avett Brothers would put on as good of a live show as Sleigh Bells with their country rock. Some catchy songs could be hits, but Winner: Sleigh Bells - 3:30 pm. 7. Yeasayer - 4:20 pm - a new favorite. I would also like to see Hockey here (and perhaps they put on a more exciting live show), but I think Yeasayer takes it. O.N.E. and Ambling Alp are just fantastic songs. 8. She & Him - 5:45 pm - I have seen She & Him twice and they were delightful both times. This will be a great set as the day begins to get a little bit cooler. 9. The Specials - 6:20 pm 10. Passion Pit - 7 pm - I heard Passion Pit's live show leaves something to be desired. I will definitely still check them out, although I feel like if they were in a tent, it may be better. 11. Too much to take in! I will do quite a few walk through and drive bys (LCD Soundsystem, La Roux, Imogen Heap, Them Crooked Vultures, Echo and the Bunnymen, and Grizzly Bear all sound great!) 12. Vampire Weekend - 9:55 pm - I saw them two years ago at Coachella. Shia LeBouf was also in attendance. I am glad he approves of my music choices. 13. Jay-Z - 10:50 pm 14. Whitest Boy Alive (11:55 pm) or going back to the tent for some sleep. Would also like to see: The Cribs (if their flight makes it here from England. It may not due to the cancellations from the Icelandic volcano eruption) and Ra Ra Riot (they were great at San Diego Street Scene this past year). I live and work in Los Angeles and I have attended Coachella Music Festival the past two years. I write for the blog Ding Dong That's the Song, located here: http://dingdongthatsthesong.blogspot.com/ It is a great resource for new music, rocking playlists, and anything else we consider fun!
