LANDSCAPE AS THERAPY During my volunteer work at Green Corridor 2020, Beijing International Design Week 2018, I have witnessed a debate on how justifiable an economics versus an environment-oriented development point of view is regarding Chinese urban construction in the future. I have been greatly impressed by defending

anthropocentrism and articulating the obsolete view of “taking economic development as the central task in urban construction”. For my part, city is closely related to environment. Therefore, I have made up my mind to further my study to landscape architecture to promote the harmony of city and environment interactions All of these concerns drive me to question what kind of relationship nature and man should embraces. Thus, I strove to understand the capability of landscape architecture to fix problems associated with nature disturbance due to rapid urban development. A lecture by James Corner exerted profound impacts on me. It was learned that it was of great significance to realize that landscape design was less about style in a small scale and much more about city and people’s interaction between environment in a large context. Through this process of inquiry, I gradually develop a keen interest in the urban perspective of landscape architecture. Influenced by landscape urbanism, I took part in several projects facing different urban issues and introduced landscape as therapy. In addition, the projects illustrated my eagerness to resolve problems and build harmony while considering complex factors.

Landscape Architecture Design Academic,Individual Work Project Location: Beijing, China Time: March-July 2020, Site Area: 4.6ha Advisor: Dafang LI Adivisor Email: idafang@tsinghua.org.cn
The project locates on the North Central axis and seizes the historical culture activities and people's demand on this site. The city plaza will be a marketscape composition and pacemaker for folk and daily activities of the Ancient Beijing City feature. The design strarts with the observation of the nearby residents' daily activities: the elder interact with their pet birds, temporary plant and collection stalls are always crowded with tourists and local residents. I was inspired by the prosperous scene of market. I purpose to excavate more market activities in the plaza and turn the site into another landmark along the North Central Axis.

In order to serve those diverse activities in this project, we have to use scattered function units to meet every specific requirement in the site. Besides, taking the number of tourists into account, we have to carefully organize people to avoid disorder in the future market.

Rail Corridor in Singapore, I purpose to design a green access for over 2,000,000 people where landscape would be the primary structuring framework. Different from city design where streets or infrastructure or blocks and building are the principal framework, the landscape of rail corridor would be the tissue that allows for blocks and streets and buildings and infrastructure to make sense into work.

Daying, where I grew up, a small town developed because of the salt industry.I lived in the factory community with my grandparents for 12 years. During the coronavirus lockdown, I went to back to my hometown and the vision of the abandoned factory and broken community just shocked me. I know almost every elder in the staff community and they can still remember me.Far from being perfect, I am trying to do something for the community, for thousands of aging communities like it.I am still trying.

In Bordeaux, there is a canyon between the main city and the satellite. It is the "BREATHING SYSTEM" of the city. The green corridor and natural park are an important part of Bordeaux. There are different types of natural landscapes in the gorge, each place presents its own characteristics. The design site is located in the lower reaches of the river, the west is the forest, the east is the plain swamp, the north and south are both urban area. We need to focus on the characteristics of the site itself, and maximize the use of the site’s own characteristics and its landscape value.
