Hunting is about being conscious of our place, our role and our responsibility within the ecosystem. It’s about balance, not trophies, showmanship or sport. We hope you feel the same way. Our philosophy is simple Nothing can disturb
your focus when you are hunting, regardless of what type of hunting you are taking part in. For this reason we have developed a clothing system that delivers with regards to fit, versatility and hunting-specific details. The same applies to our other equipment, such as our hunting backpacks. It is incredibly important that everything fits well and feels comfortable. Nothing can hang loose or be too restrictive. Pockets should be in the right places and even when they are full they should be comfortable and follow movements easily. All our clothing systems build on the layering principle – using several layers of fabric and air that can be regulated according to needs and the situation. Layers that are well adapted to each other. A fabric can’t catch on another fabric, feel rough against the skin or make a noise when you move. In addition, important functions such as wicking moisture away from the body,
keeping you dry when it’s wet or insulating against the cold are challenges individually but even more so when in combination with each other. This is why we believe so strongly in the layering principle. Then we have the practical details that also have to work well, and this is where precision comes into play. Where should I put my ammunition so I can easily reach it? How high should my radio be for maximum range without getting in the way? Its attachment can’t be too wide or too narrow, it has to be perfect! Where can I put my dog tracker so it’s easily accessed? How can I tie up my friend's dog? I need a pocket I can put an extra leash in… Where will I put my knife and latex gloves for when I need them to gut an animal? Where is the pocket for my gps and rangefinder? The bottom line is that all our clothing and equipment has to be so good, simple and well-designed that you don’t have to think about anything but the actual hunt.
Fjällräven Hunting families Fjällräven’s hunting collection is sectioned into four parts, or families. The families are helpful to pick from when you customize your equipment, since they reflect different types of hunting and functionality. How you combine them depends on your personal needs and preferences.

WOOL
Wool for the conscious hunter Hunting is a physical activity that often invol-
ves shifting between high energy bursts and low energy or stillness. Wool as a material is therefore incredibly well suited for hunters. It’s durable yet soft to the touch. Warming when it’s cold, pleasantly cooling when the weather is warm. Odour resistant while effectively wicking away moisture. And it’s sustainable and biodegradable qualities make it perfect for those of us who want to contribute towards a better environment. At Fjällräven we have four categories of wool – all produced with the highest standards of sustainability and animal welfare; non-mulesed wool (a minimum requirement for us), traceable wool, recovered wool and recycled wool. Although sourced differently, our four categories of wool share the same, supremely functional features.
Non-mulesed/traceable wool
Merino wool comes from merino sheep and is an extra soft, high-quality wool that does not irritate the skin – for this reason it is popular in base-layer garments that are worn against the skin.
Lambswool comes from the sheep’s first shearing and is extra soft and pliant but the fibres aren't as fine as merino wool. Regular wool from domestic sheep is warm, durable and soft. Different knitting techniques can be used to vary insulating ability, for example by creating a smoother or a more airy structure.
Recycled wool
Recycled wool has been used for a long time without being defined as recycled. This is primarily true for felted wool as recycled wool usually has shorter fibres. Felting makes the wool more compact, which makes it more windproof and reduces the risk of it getting caught in branches and shrubs. Wool blends are sometimes used to increase the durability of woollen garments. To achieve this, the wool fibres are mixed with other fibres, from either synthetic or other natural materials.
Recovered wool
Recovered wool is wool that has traditionally been considered unusable due to its coarser texture and therefore discarded as waste. Instead,
we collect it, refine it into a high quality material and use it for different products. The backplate for the popular Lappland Hike 15 back pack for example, uses recovered wool that is pressed and shaped, so that it becomes both moisture and heat regulating. Washing and care instructions Use wool detergent and wash woollen garments carefully by hand or used the wool program on your washing machine. Do not soak. Shape your garment after it has been washed and lay it flat on a towel to dry. FUNCTIONAL ADVANTAGES
• Quiet • Warm, even when damp • Moisture wicking • Resists bad odours • Non flammable ENVIRONMENTAL ADVANTAGES
• Natural product • Sustainable • Bio-degradable • Doesn’t need to be washed so often

Trusted teammates, inseparable friends Of all the species that roam our planet, two of them have gotten along very well for the past 30 000 years or so: The hunter and the dog. Meet Jessica and Chase. Text & Photo: Anette Andersson
Jessica and Chase have always lived next to the moose forest.
Jessica was born and raised in Handog, a small village with forty inhabitants, beautifully located right next to the Indalsälven river, thirty kilometers north of Östersund in Jämtland, Sweden. Chase was born three hundred kilometers west of the village of Storbudalen, south of Trondheim in Norway. Both have been hunting since they were young. Chase is an East Siberian Laika with mental strength, confidence and a natural will to hunt. Jessica grew up with several hunters in the family. She got her hunting license and started hunting ten years ago. The first couple of years she did so without a

dog. But she felt something was missing. She was missing the company of a four-legged friend. For the past four years, she has had Chase by her side. “Chase is lively, happy, kind, loyal and curious. Just as a best friend should be”, says Jessica.
Forest training Chase and Jessica now live in Lit, north of Östersund, together with the children Ebba and William, not far from Jessica's birthplace Handog. When Chase came to the family, she was eight weeks old. Jessica brought her out into the woods as a puppy to make her get used to the forest – the smells, sounds and surroundings. The pup found it very exciting right away and Dogs and humans she was never afraid. In order for For about 30-40,000 years, the dog has Chase to get used to the sound been the human’s best friend. The dog is of shots being fired, they would said to be descended from a small type of wolves in eastern Asia. It was attracted to spend time near a shooting range. the human’s piles of waste and thus the two To start with from a long distance. creatures made contact with each other. When Chase had heard the sound The dog eventually became a helper in the a few times, they moved closer. hunt. (S. Sjölander (2016), From ancient dog to companion dog). During the first visits to the forest off the lead, Chase stayed close to Jessica even though she was very curious about deer. The more time they spent in the hunting forest, the more she learnt. At first, she was a little too anxious and kept hunting the moose rather than holding it at bay by barking at it. But lately year she has cooled down and acts a lot calmer. She’s begun to understand what to do. For track training, Jessica puts out blood tracks with a hoof or a toy at the end of the track. It’s good training for Chase. In the summer, when nature is resting from hunting, Chase is held on a lead while training. When autumn comes and Chase gets to run again, the tracking training continues.
Skills put to the test
Initially, Jessica’s plan was to buy a male dog. When names were discussed in the family, her daughter Ebba suggested Chase. The name comes from one of the dogs in the children's program Paw Patrol, which is about three superhero dogs. Later, it turned out that the dog that moved in with them was a female. “But we found out that the name Chase works with both males and a females”, says Jessica. During a hunt last autumn, Chase’s father Elvis picked up the scent of a moose. The moose came running towards the hunters and was shot. They thought it was a heifer, but unfortunately it was a cow. When the animal was removed, they discovered that she had milk in the udder. The moose had made the calf stay put when the dog took up the hunt. “We went to the place where we had begun and tried to release Elvis again, but he immediately ran back to the cow”. 19
The Swedish Association for Hunting’s guidelines for humans and dogs The use of hunting dogs is very common within Swedish hunting. Approximately every other Swedish hunter has its own hunting dog. When it comes to dog activities, the association primarily focuses on hunting with loose running dogs, ethics, basic obedience and track training. The goal of the association’s basic dog owner and obedience training is: “To educate the dog owners so that they can establish a good relationship with their dogs, and teach them basic obedience. After the training, they will have tools for recalling, walking on a lead, general socialisation and tools for the dog to feel safe and at peace. The spirit of our organisation must be characterised by respect and responsibility for the dog. The relationship with our dogs should be based on trust between dog and owner. In all handling of dogs, it must be taken into account that dogs have different needs, interpret situations in different ways and have other pre-conditions for dealing with situations that arise than us humans. For the Swedish Association for Hunting, it goes without saying that all dog training and activities with dogs are executed in accordance with Swedish animal welfare legislation.” (www.jagareforbundet.se)
Instead, Chase got the chance to show her skills. After fifteen minutes she began to bark – the calf was found. It was jumpy and nervous and started running back and forth trying to confuse the dog. Chase kept searching in wider circles. Finally, the calf came across a shooter in his stand. JESSICA AND CHASE
“I was very proud of Chase, she did everything exactly the way she should, like a textbook example”.
Staying alert, keeping fit During the hunting season when Jessica puts on her hunting clothes and Chase hears the sound
of the collar or the rustle from the hunting trousers – she immediately knows it’s time to go hunting. She runs down into the basement and tries to get Jessica’s attention, making sure she won’t forget to take her along. A while later, when the car stops in the forest, Chase knows exactly what is about to happen. Jessica will open
the crate and put on the collar and gps tracker. Then the door of the crate is shut again. While Jessica prepares herself for the next step the gps and the handset will connect with each other. When the shooters are in place and the crate is opened again, Chase knows that it’s her turn to leave the car and run out into the woods.
“She keeps track of what is going on. If it’s not our turn yet she just stays and rests in the crate”. Chase is comfortable with all the hunting equipment, with one exception. The newly purchased reflective vest is not at all popular. When she sees it she backs down and turns her
eyes down, pulls her ears back and hunches her back. “We have tried the vest in the forest but can I see that she doesn’t like it, and when I show it to her at home she will go and hide behind something”, says Jessica. In order to physically cope with the hunting 21

season, both Jessica and Chase need to stay fit. During winter the training consists of skijoring. Jessica goes cross-country skiing and Chase pulls her. It’s good training for both of them. For the everyday exercise, the electric light skiing track in Lit is perfect. On weekends, they ski along the Indalsälven river downstream towards Handog. “Skiing along the ice is fantastic on sunny winter days. It’s pure enjoyment for both of us.
Part of the family When Chase picks up the scent of an animal she gets even more eager. She will pull harder, her ears become extra pointed and her eyes big. She starts tripping and looks curious. It’s as if she’s telling me “there’s something happening here – come on, let’s check it out”, says Jessica. In the summer, skis on snow are replaced by bicycles on forest roads. On hot days they exercise in water, Chase loves swimming. They will often go to the river Hårkan, which flows into Indalsälven, where Chase gets a little bit of resistance in the stream. In the autumn there will be cycling again. During hunting season, both receive their training in the forest. But training the dog’s psyche is important all year-round. “Chase is a family member, and hunting is our common interest. And to prepare for it, we both need to exercise our brains and bodies”, concludes Jessica. 23
Fjällräven Camo This season, Fjällräven Green Camo is joined by Dark Olive Camo. They are based on a pine forest pattern, incorporating both sharp and undefined forms to break up the silhouette. Moving completely undetected through the forest requires skill and a lot of patience. Soft calm movements taking into account the direction of the wind, the type of ground under your feet, the careful moving away of branches and sticks, avoiding rustling shrubs and the time you allow your progress through the terrain to take.
FJÄLLRÄVEN CAMO
Wearing clothes and equipment with camouflage patterns can help, as they can blur your body’s contour, but ultimately, it will most likely be the animals’ sense of smell and hearing that will detect you - deer and wild boar for example, have a sense of smell that is approximately 1000 times more sensitive than ours. Camo is available in a wide range of clothing. Please go to fjallraven.com to see them all.

Modify your gear to suit your needs With Greenland Wax, you can easily adapt your
g-1000 garments to suit different weather conditions and activity levels. Even backpacks and bags can be waxed. More wax gives a denser fabric that can withstand weather and wind. It also increases the durability and longevity of the garment or backpack. In warm weather, the wax can simply be washed out for a cooler garment with increased breathability.
Standing or walking in rain - wax shoulders, arms and hood. Also, the backpack’s lid and underside.
Lying in wet shrub - wax the front of the garments several times to keep moisture out.
Wax the knees of the trousers several times to protect against moisture and wear.
Wax the lower leg of the trousers when walking through shrublands.
Sitting still – wax the seat of the trousers.

L ARRY DAUGHERT Y
The Florida doctor who became the Alaskan hunter Larry Daugherty was living the good life in Florida together with his wife and five kids. One day, they decided to move to Alaska. Text: Nils Grundberg Photo: Joel Forsman
How did you start hunting? I grew up in the city
and hunting was not a part of my life at all, but I was heavily influenced by my grandparents who were true adventurers that traveled the world. So I always had some sort of itch in my soul. One day by coincidence I saw an ad inviting amateur adventurers to apply for the opportunity of an adventure of my lifetime and learn
how to ride a dog sled above the Arctic circle. I applied for Fjällräven Polar, won a spot and it changed my life forever. After Fjällräven Polar, at the age of 38, my family and I made the big decision to move to Alaska – I’m married and we have 5 kids. We moved here from Florida, so Alaska was a big change for us in every way imaginable – we
traded sunshine for snow, beaches for high mountains and city life for a life interwoven with nature. My passion for adventures and a life with nature, fueled by the visions of my grandparents, inspired me take part in the 1,000 mile Iditarod dogsled race.” While resting in a remote cabin in the Alaskan

wilderness, my mushing mentor asked me if I would like to go hunting the following year. Hunting is something that some people have a hard time comprehending, but when you are engaged with nature on a regular basis, it starts to make sense. To live off the land. To L ARRY DAUGHERT Y
understand the circle of life in an intimate way.   A year after moving to Alaska, I took my first caribou. Two of my children were with me. I can only describe the experience of taking that beautiful animal in its surroundings as a spiritual one. It touched our hearts in a powerful way.
With the help of my friend, we learned how to process it. In Alaska, the caribou are quite large so this means skinning the animal, quartering it, then removing the backstrap, neck meat, ribs and tenderloin. We also removed the cape so that we could preserve the memory with a
beautiful taxidermy shoulder mount, complete with the large antlers. We filled our freezer with delicious organic steaks, roasts and ground meat. It was enough to feed my family for an entire year. When the next September came around, we were ready to go hunting and fill
the freezer again. Once we had been hunting caribou and small game for several years, we felt we were ready to try for a moose, a much larger endeavor because they are 2-3 times the size, they can weigh up to 900 kg! The process of skinning, quartering and then systematically
removing the meat is the same, however.   We hunt on foot, which means carrying heavy loads, one quarter or one piece of the animal at a time. Sometimes we hunt by raft. Last year we were lucky enough to shoot a moose right on the river bank, allowing us to bring the raft 37

right up to it. We still processed the animal the same way, but instead of carrying the heavy loads out, we were able to load everything onto the raft, one piece at a time. What gear do you prefer to use? My absolute
favorite piece of gear I own is my Stubben backpack. The built in seat is just so cool. For its size, it is a remarkably strong and stable pack. It is a bit small for the large game in Alaska, it’s not big enough to carry a caribou or moose quarter, but it’s perfect for carrying all the supplies I need for the hunt, including a tarp, game bags, knife, ammunition, binoculars, etc. Usually, one of my kids carries the Stubben with my hunting supplies in it. The Singi 48 is the perfect size for carrying a quarter and it has a very handy side pouch which I use to carry my rifle. When it comes to clothing, I have used many different brands of hunting outerwear, but I’ve found my Fjällraven shell to be absolutely the best as it can withstand all of the rigors of the outdoors and hunting in a wild place like Alaska. What is special about this hunt? I always look
forward to the moose hunt, it’s my favorite time of the year. We can only hunt moose in the first three weeks of September and I enjoy the season so much. The fall colours, the cooler weather, all of it symbolises the start of the hunting season and that winter is soon on the way. A moose hunt is special because it’s a longer hunt, typically around 7 days, and often
involves floating down a river. Because of the rafting, time involved and rough terrain, it takes a lot of planning. We hunt in remote areas away from the road system, really deep in the wilderness so we don’t usually see many other people. The moose hunt is usually the first time each year that I see the northern lights and I have many fond memories of sleeping out in the open, gazing up at the sky, usually with my oldest son by my side. Because moose are so difficult to hunt and so large, I usually invite friends along and there is no better way to connect with others than by engaging in powerful and complex nature. This year, the river was quite low due to a lack of rain. This presented enormous challenges. Instead of a relaxing float downstream, we were dragging heavy rafts for many kilometers. These were challenging circumstances, but when challenges are shared with friends they can create memories for life.
hunting. In my opinion, hunting provides the most humane way of subsisting on a meat diet. Taking an animal in its natural environment not only establishes a deep connection between you and your food, but also allows your "food" to have lived a humane and good life. You cannot buy food like this at the store. Free of any antibiotics, hormones, etc. The meat I feed my family is truly organic. I use as much of the animal as possible. This to me is conscious hunting.
What is conscious hunting to you? I hunt for
food, not for trophies. I don't need to hunt for food; I choose to. Could I buy meat at the grocery store? Yes I could. But in my opinion, if you are going to eat meat, you should have a good understanding of where it comes from. Hunting allows me to teach this to my children. We harvest as much of our own food as possible from the land. This means filling the freezer with fish in the summer, berries in the fall and nature-fed meat when possible through 39

Eco-Shell is Fjällräven’s own durable, breathable shell material specifically created to be waterproof without using perfluorocarbons (pfcs) that harm the environment. In garments that are not Eco-Shell, we use Hydratic for waterproof functionality - as a loose liner inside a garment, or as a membrane that is laminated together with a shell fabric or as a coating with a protective print that is fused together with a shell fabric. Both Eco-Shell and Hydratic ventilate out moisture when you're active.

Synthetic insulation
Sörmland Padded Vest M Rec. price: 200 €
Sörmland Tapered Winter Trousers M Rec. price: 190 €
In the Fjällräven hunting range we often use synthetic insulation, while in our other collections we often use down. The difference between down and synthetic insulation can be subtle when you compare them in a store, but out in the field the differences are quite noticeable. In cold, dry weather, a garment with down insulation is good because of its ability to effectively shut in air and body heat, while being light and breathable. In wet conditions, however, the down loses some of its insulating properties. That is not the case with synthetic insulation. Although a little heavier than down, synthetic insulation is much more resistant to moisture and dries faster - therefore it is very suitable for hunting, where wet weather can’t get in the way of your focus.

Make your own venison sausage with Marcus Sämmer Making your own sausage is great fun. And with the right equipment and a little practice, you can quickly get the hang of it and you can change the seasoning and the ingredients to suit your taste. If you’re a beginner, get a friend to help you four hands are better than two when you fill the sausage meat into the intestine. Damp hands and a damp work board make things go even smoother. CHAMOIS SALSICCIA
Markus Sämmer is an influential chef and author from Germany, known for his creativity, passion and love for his profession. Trained in top gastronomy with a lot of experience abroad, he combines natural local products with modern, international cuisine and always creates new culinary delights. He has already written two successful cook books in his series “The Great Outdoors” and is currently finalizing the third one. Markus is a Conscious hunter, passionate about nature, the mountains, the lake on the doorstep and the forests beyond - he fishes, hunts, collects wild herbs and mushrooms, and grows fruit and vegetables himself.
47
Why do you hunt? “I enjoy being involved in nature conservation and having profound outdoor experiences, but I guess the real motivation for hunting has mainly been to provide my own food. I’m strictly opposed to animal transports and intensive livestock farming and always tries to avoid any products that come from that industry.” What is Conscious Hunting to you? “In my opinion, it’s important to understand and respect the cycle and pace of nature, no matter whether it is wood, game or other natural products from the forest. Conscious hunting for me, is about healthy populations, the right distribution of age groups and a healthy gender ratio. When it comes to bringing an animal from the wild to the table, I use as many parts of the animal as possible.”
CHAMOIS SALSICCIA
Chamois salsiccia Serves 6-8 people
Ingredients: 1.5 kg of chamois meat 500 g raw pork bacon 30 g sea salt 5 g white pepper 2 g nutmeg or mace 1-2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped ½ tsp caraway seeds, mortar 1 organic lemon, zest 1 tsp dried marjoram or oregano 2 tsp each of chopped thyme and chopped rosemary 1 pack of natural casing from the butcher’s supplies Optional, if you like it spicy: 1 fresh or dried chilli (chopped) or ground cayenne pepper Equipment: meat grinder with a fine or medium slice, sausage attachment or press. Soak the intestines well in cold water and rinse. Let the meat and bacon through the meat grinder. Mix the minced meat well with all the ingredients and it is best to fry a small sample, season if necessary. Now place the sausage funnel on the meat grinder or put the mass in a sausage press and press evenly into the previously pushed-on casing. Divide into sausages of the same size by always turning an approx. 15 cm long piece between thumb and forefinger in alternating directions about 3 turns. Roast sausages fresh, grill or freeze immediately. Keep the sausages raw only briefly in the fridge. If you want to keep the sausages longer, you should brew them in boiling salted water for about 20 minutes.
Markus’ cook book series, “The Great Outdoors”, is available in book stores, online and in Markus’ own webshop. The first two have received a lot of a ttention and the third one, “Hello N ature”, with focus on hunting and fishing, will be available from Jan. 2021 through DK publishing house.

MEET THE DESIGNER
Meet the designer
“As a hunter, I like simple, intuitive products” Johan Hübinette, designer at Fjällräven, probably knows more than anyone about hunting backpacks. So who better to ask about how they are developed? Text: Nils Grundberg Photo: Anette Andersson How do you develop products for a conscious hunter? Being a hunter myself, I think it’s im-
portant to make simple and intuitive products. When hunting you need to be fully focused on the task, therefore the products cannot have too much extra stuff that you don’t really need. It
should be easy to take off your backpack when you sit down in the stand, and it should always be easy to adjust.
In addition, we try to make products that last long and are sustainable from an environmental point of view. For conscious hunters,
51
The foundation of Fjällräven’s products comes from our heritage and our direct connection to hiking and spending long periods outdoors in nature.
MEET THE DESIGNER
it is a matter of course to take utmost account of animals and nature. We have a great focus on natural materials such as wool, cotton and down. These materials have unmatched features for us hunters and in many respects they are a sustainable choice from an environmental point of view. What do you know about the target audience?
Our customers are mainly in the Nordic countries, the German speaking countries and in Eastern Europe. These are people who spend a lot of time out in the woods and who see hunting as a natural part of their lifestyle. Fjällräven has made specific clothing and equipment for hunters since the 1970s, but what we see now is that more and more people all over the world are showing an interest in our hunting products. What does Fjällräven's hunting customers want from the products? To sum it up in one word,
I would think that most of Fjällräven’s hunting customers would say quality. They want long-lasting products that have a high degree of functionality but are also intuitive to handle in a situation that requires focus. Functionally, it’s very different depending on the hunt the customer is engaged in, it can be anything from bird hunting in the northern part of Sweden to drive hunting in Germany. What do you keep in mind when developing a new product? When we develop a new product,
it’s always based on a specific need. The idea or request can come from many directions, from one of my colleagues here in the office or from a colleague in a completely different part of the world. Or, of course, from one of us designers, who develop the products. But we also focus quite a lot on updating products that have become hunters’ favourites over time. Like the Stubben backpack for example, where we’ve just made it easier to reach the contents while you’re sitting on it. The foundation of Fjällräven’s products comes from our heritage and our direct connection to hiking and spending long periods outdoors in nature. You must be able to carry things, squat down, and move around. That is the very foundation. Then we add specific hunting features, such as ammunition space, silent button, or the extra narrow silhouette on the Lappland Hike backpack that allows you to carry your rifle on the shoulder. Small details that make a big difference. Do you get any feedback on the products? Lots!
Our customers and dealers are very committed, we get very good feedback. Sometimes we 53
get suggestions on new products they think we should start making, the ideas are often quite specific. We then try to incorporate the ideas into existing products in order to make versatile products. What is your own relationship to hunting? I grew
up in the countryside and my dad introduced me to hunting. It was a natural part of how we discovered the outdoors and utilized its resources. At that time it was mostly moose hunting. Now I live in a more urban area but hunting is still part of my life and plays an important part in the relationship between me and my dad. The hunting has changed a lot since I started though. There is more game these days, and it’s more varied! It’s the result of successful wildlife care. What do you put into the concept of conscious hunting? It can be a bit difficult to explain to
someone who doesn’t hunt, someone who may think that the starting point is to kill animals. But for a hunter, it’s obvious that the foundation is an interest in nature and that it’s about a sustainable management of animals and nature and that everything is done as ethically as possible. For me as a designer, it’s important to develop solutions that are sustainable. To make solutions with nature and not against it. Do you have any tips on hunting equipment?
Get to know your equipment, especially if it’s new. Prepare carefully before the hunt so you understand the features and can create your own system for your equipment. Get fewer but better items, try to have fewer things! I’m actually quite bad at this myself, says Johan, laughing. I guess it’s because of my occupation. I always want to test new things and improve my system.
Reaching the contents while sitting on it is an important design detail of the popular Stubben backpack.

PROTECT YOUR FIREARMS
Rifle Zip Case
Shotgun Case
Rifle Case
Protect your firearms Product developer Fredrik Hyltén-Cavallius has created three different cases that will all protect your rifle or shotgun well. But Fjällräven’s gun cases do a lot more than just protect your firearms from bumps and bangs. Why do you need a good gun case? “A well-padded
and well-constructed gun case doesn’t only protect your firearm from damage when it is being transported, there are other important aspects too. A rifle with a large scope is more sensitive to knocks and if a well-sighted rifle is bumped and unaligned, this increases the risk of injuring game. In this way, a gun case can therefore reduce the unnecessary suffering of game animals.” How do I choose the right case? “All our cases are well padded and will protect your
gun well. The difference between the Rifle Case and Rifle Zip Case is in the details, the openings and the pockets. Rifle Case is a little more lavish and has leather details and a large pocket under the flap. The rifle can also be held in place with straps so that its scope is kept away from the zipper. Shotgun Case has the same design as Rifle Case but has been adapted for shotguns.”
ble seat pads with back support. The handles and the shoulder strap make them easy to carry and handle the gun, and I really like the leather details on the Shotgun Case and Rifle Case.”
What do you like best about your gun cases?
“Primarily the quality of the cases, and the thick layer of padding. All of them have G-1000 HeavyDuty Eco on the outside and can be waxed to enhance water resistance. They can all be opened up completely and laid out flat, so they can be used as comforta-

LEATHER YOU CAN TRUST YEAR AF TER YEAR
Leather you can trust year after year Leather is a natural material and vegetable tanned leather should be treated with
a natural leather oil/conditioner to keep it flexible and strong and to ensure it ages beautifully. Due to being exposed to sun and wind, light leather will darken and dark leather will lighten in colour. This is a natural process that no one can do anything about. Warm, dry air can dry leather out if it isn’t treated regularly, and when really wet leather has dried it should be treated with leather oil. 1) Wipe off any dirt with a clean, damp sponge or cloth. You can also use a special
leather-cleaning product if the dirt is difficult to remove. Just remember to use as little as possible.
2) A fter cleaning the leather it is important to use a natural transparent or colour-
less leather oil/conditioner. The fats in the oil/conditioner will impregnate the leather and protect it from getting wet and dirty. Use natural oils for leather without strong chemical agents, and apply it to the outside, just like you would with a pair of shoes.
