Charts for Traditional Sanquhar Knitting By Brett Lofton

The knitting traditions of Sanquhar, Scotland and the Yorkshire Dales and Dent areas of England present a unique and challenging experience for the hand-knitter. I am no expert on the subject and do not presume to possess a wealth of knowledge on the subject. My purpose here is simply to document the fascinating and unique designs of these areas for posterity. I found that, although there is a fair amount of information available, I had not been able to find charts for all the patterns together in one place. I have endeavored to do that here. The charts that follow are, to the best of my knowledge, traditional designs and are public domain. I have divided the charts into three sections. The first section is devoted to designs worked in 11 stitch squares, known as the Dambrod designs. The second section contains the all-over designs such as the Midge and Flea. The Third sections is devoted to the designs used for cuffs and, in some cases, fingers
