Balance|spatial studies

Tasked with creating six individual wooden blocks that were manipulated through addition and subtraction of concave/convex, and uniform slopes. We created unique structures for each individual block. that created a new atmosphere at a 1/16"=1' Scale. Using these blocks as a resource to understand spatial composition. In combination with an asian garden case study I composed a contemporary garden using a balance of the traditional Chinese concepts of Yin and Yang

8 Site Plan

A contemporary structure displaying a contrast to the natural landscape which shelters the public from climate conditions. The structure indicates a literal aspect to the Chinese symbology and light may penetrate through its void intop the natural scenery

Haven|urban design

Haven features a 7-acre site, Main Street Place, found in Bellevue, Washington and an urban framework that revitalizes the principles of urban design throughout the city. Our team proposed an urban street renewal that improves micro-mobility of Downtown Bellevue, and connects directly to our site. Featuring a mobility hub, climate shelters, and staging capabilities, Haven offers centralized urban design strategies that take the city of Bellevue to a new level.

Protection from strong winds, particularly in areas prone to gusts or turbulent weather conditions. By creating a physical barrier, such as a row of trees, pavilion wind break or walls, it helps reduce wind velocity and turbulence in its immediate vicinity. The windbreak structure positively impacts the microclimate of an area.

A micro mobility hub improves urban connectivity by integrating cycling infrastructure with other transportation modes. It is strategically located near transit stations, allowing seamless transfers between bikes and public transportation.

The design concept incorporates an important element in history, specifically through the site where a rail line would run through Alameda Street. Decreasing the use of combustion vehicles is critical to Los Angeles, so my partner and I have a plan to reintroduce the rail by implementing a trolley that runs down Alameda Street named the 'Trail'. Our site design focuses on creating a central urban space, using biomimicry to represent what would become the heart of our urban mobility movement and the circulation-based design at our site.
