5. Pry shaft seal (6) from the hub. If necessary, drive the outer bearing cones out of the hub bores.

10. Attach link brackets (12) and a suitable lifting device. Remove the steer axle hub (4) and the axle shaft from the axle housing (13). The weight of the steer axle hub and axle shaft is approximately 40 kg (88 lb).

11. Install the steer axle hub (6) and the axle shaft into the axle housing until the splines are seated in the side gear.

12. Install the shim (10) and the axle kingpin in the top of the steer axle hub (6). Install the axle kingpin without a shim in the bottom of the steer axle hub (6) .

13. Install bolts (11) and tighten to a torque of 117 N¡m (86 lb ft). 14. Move the steer axle hub back and forth. Use a torque wrench in order to check the rolling resistance. The rolling resistance should be 18 to 20 N¡m (13 to 15 lb ft). If the rolling resistance is greater than specification, remove the shim (10). Replace the shim with a thicker shim. If the rolling resistance is less than specification, remove shim (10). Replace the shim with a thinner shim.
