WITH 2 I’S

You never know what will happen when Yolanda A. Barnes, better known as Yogii with 2 I’s, hits the stage. From poetry that will make you sit on the edge of your seat, and words that will make you stand to your feet. All while giving you comedy, soulful singing, or flowing freestyle not to forget. You can best believe that you will get a show to remember. Writing since 13, Yogii started penning raps, until one day it turned into something more, “this is…poetry” and from that point on, poetry was all that was written. Although not the only creative outlet, this multitalented artist has over time become a photographer, graphic designer, visual merchandiser, author, spoken word artist, motivational speaker, and recording artist. Drawing from all of her talents and life experiences when she hits the stage. Over the years her catalog of work spans from titles like “The Funeral”, “Letter to the Abused”, “In His Glory”, and “Peanutbutter Jelly Time”. In 2008, she published her first book and cd “Y aren’t you listening?”. Her poetry can also be found in “Love letters to my child”. Yogii, for two years, weekly co-hosted an open mic show in Fayetteville, NC called “Poetry-N-Motion”. Along the way, working on the radio, and is currently developing a way to workshop with poets thru the medium, that is revolutionary. Yogii has also been able to teach people to tap into their creative sides, and remind them, that it’s not hard to CRE8. Currently, Yogii can be found in the studio working on a new cd that will have favorites like, “Boiled Peanuts”, “Porno Star”, “Peanut butter Jelly Time” and “I Pledge Poetry”. Last year she published two chapbooks as placeholder for the new book in the works. Yogii has been booked to event coordinate, host, feature and model in some of the cities biggest events. She has also picked up the paint- brush and began to create on canvas, vivid pictures that match her poetry. Recently having her first exhibit during ‘Fayetteville Fashion Week.’ Looking to expand her platform as a Bronco Toastmaster, she has gone beyond poetry to speak out against teenage domestic violence, educating people on premature births, and inspiring people to follow their dreams and “CRE8”. Yolanda started her business “Inspired Ink Creative Consulting” in 2015 and is looking forward to inspiring others to live their dream. No matter what you came to see on stage, poetry, motivational speaking, workshops, slam, or features, Yogii (with 2 I’s) is the poet that you have been waiting to see on stage.
