Conflict // Cohesion

Being a woman of color presents unique and daily challenges, and identity is no exception. With the main photoshoot for this issue, we sought to personify the struggle of navigating identities that don’t always feel cohesive. For women of color, it is nearly impossible to be seen at all— much less on the border of what feels like two opposing identities. We wanted to highlight women of color who occupy multiple spaces: whether that be in the workplace and the dance floor, domestic and international areas, or queer and spiritual existences. Duality prevails in us, and we owe it to ourselves to relish in it.
