Why do kids need their own space?
Whether you decide to finish the basement and go all out with climbing walls and foam pits, or carve out “kid zones” in each room, giving kids a space of their own is crucial in developing their sense of INDEPENDENCE.
Kids deserve privacy too. Having a safe place to relax or play freely tells kids we TRUST them. The trick is giving kids responsibility we can measure, which will inspire them to reach for more. Kids will also learn in the process that trust is earned. After all, we want to be empty-nesters someday, right?
