MAKE EVERY RUN MAGICAL Ghost 6 They say that inside each pair of Brooks Ghost 6 is a heaping dose of real float dust. It gives its wearer the perfect blend of balance and cushion. We say the enchanting feeling comes from an incredibly smooth heel-to-toe transition and the awesome power of Brooks’ own DNA adaptable cushioning. EVENT DETAILS GEAR CHECK Gear Check will open at 5:15am and will close promptly at 10:30am. Gear Check is located on the South Side of the race site in Upper Hutchinson Field. For security purposes, you must have your bib number visible and pinned to the front of your torso to gain access to the Gear Check area. In addition, participants will only be allowed to bring one bag, no larger than 12in x 18in into the Gear Check area. Please be sure to check the event website and pay attention to event communications as Gear Check procedures may be updated based on the security needs of the event. To ensure a speedy drop off and retrieval process, attach your Gear Check Tag to your bag prior to drop off. Your Gear Check Tag is the tear-off tag on the top of your bib number. Beaded luggage ties are available at Packet Pick-Up to secure your tag. Please do not check any valuables as we are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

RESTROOMS Restrooms, and handwash stations will be located on Columbus Drive and Balbo Drive respectively, between the start and finish lines. Please keep in mind that the half marathon starts at 6:30am and the 5K starts at 6:50am. Those participating in the half marathon may need to step ahead in line to ensure that they are in the start line area prior to the start of the event. We ask that 5K participants kindly provide half marathon participants the opportunity to step ahead of them in line to use the restrooms when the half marathon race start time nears. Thank you for your help in ensuring everyone is able to start their respective distance on time.

B-TAG TIMING SYSTEM The Chicago Women’s Half Marathon & 5K is using the Chronotrack B-Tag Timing System. The timing system provides each participant with an accurate time from the start to the finish line. Individual timing tags are affixed to the back of each bib number. Leave the tags on the back of the bib number and wear the bib number on your front torso, so that it is clearly visible on the outside of your clothing. Please ensure the following in order to receive an accurate time: • Race bib is clearly visible on the front of your torso • Race bib is unaltered and unmodified (Do not fold or wrinkle) • Race bib is pinned on all four corners 3 • Race bib is not covered by jackets, runner belts, water bottles, etc.

EVENT DETAILS COURSE CLOCKS AND MILE MARKERS Course clocks will be located at each mile marker on the 5K and half marathon courses respectively, as well as at the Start and Finish Lines. Timing mats will be located at the Start Line, 10K split (half marathon only) and Finish Line.

EVENT RULES All participants must follow the official event rules and guidelines of the Chicago Women’s Half Marathon & 5K, which are posted at womenshalfchicago.com/ event-details. Rules and guidelines should be reviewed in their entirety prior to race day.

MEDICAL SUPPORT The main medical support station is located at the Finish Line of the event. If you are in need of medical attention at any time before, during or after the race, please look for personnel in red medical vests.

AID STATIONS There are 7 Aid Stations located along the half marathon course, and one aid station on the 5K course. Each Aid Station includes: Water, Gatorade Endurance Formula, port-o-lets and medical support. See the Course Map on page 7 for more information.

RACE START Half Marathon participants can begin to file into the Start Line area at 5:45am. The half marathon start will close once all half marathon participants have crossed the Start Line. To ensure all runners safety, runners arriving late to the start will not be allowed to participate in the half marathon distance, but can participate in the 5K. 5K participants will be able to enter the Start Line area at 6:35am for their 6:50am start. 5K participants must start at 6:50am with all 5K participants in order to receive an accurate and official time for the event.

COURSE TIMING REQUIREMENT The half marathon course will remain open for 3.5 hours (approximately 15 minutes/mile) from the time the last group of runners has crossed the start line. Each participant’s bib number must be clearly visible on front of the torso at all times and is required for crossing the finish line.

But physical activity – like running – can greatly reduce your risk of heart disease. When you exercise, you help to: ♥ improve blood circulation ♥ release tension ♥ prevent high blood pressure ♥ manage your cholesterol levels Go Red for Women is the American Heart Association’s national movement to end heart disease in women. In the last ten years, more than 627,000 women have been saved from heart disease, but there’s still work to be done. For more information, visit GoRedforWomen.org.
