The eastern side of Sicily is dominated by the soaring, volcanic peaks of Mt Etna. At its feet sits the ancient port city of Catania. Marvel at the large cathedral, lose yourself in the narrow streets and then find your way to the delightful La Pescheria Market, where lots of local treats can be sampled for lunch. Regardless of where you find yourself in the city, you’ll always be able to see the dark giant figure of Mt Etna, piercing the clouds. If you’ve brought your hiking boots with you, the slopes of the mountain are a great place to go on a day tour as well. That is,

Taormina/Cefalu Enjoy breakfast in the hotel. Depart for Taormina and visit to the Antique Theatre. After this, enjoy a bit of free time, before you head for Cefalu to visit the town. Free time before departing for the western area of the island. Accommodation at tonight’s hotel includes dinner. Tuesday
Palermo/Monreale Daily breakfast and dinner at the hotel. Visit to the centre of Palermo, the Cathedral and the Cloister of Monreale and free time in the centre before returning to the hotel. Wednesday
Erice/Selinunte Enjoy breakfast in the hotel. Depart for Erice*. You will head towards Marsala and visit a social cellar with a short wine-tasting session. In the afternoon you will visit the archaeological site of Selinunte. After you will head to Agrigento. Accommodation at tonight’s hotel includes dinner. *Depending on road conditions towards Erice, you may visit the city of Trapani.
Thursday
Agrigento/Piazza Armerina Enjoy breakfast in the hotel, subsequently visiting the Valley of the Temples. You’ll go on towards Piazza Armerina to visit the Villa Romana del Casale. Then head back towards the eastern area of the island for the final part of your journey. Accommodation at tonight’s hotel includes dinner. Friday
Etna/Catania Half board in hotel. Excursion to Mount Etna by bus. Here there is the possibility of an excursion (with an extra charge) by 4x4 minibuses with an authorised guide to visit the main craters. Afterwards you will go to Catania, where we take a walk through the historical centre. Free time. Brunch with kumquat ice cream or granita with brioche. (depending on the season). Return to the hotel and dinner. Saturday or Sunday
