Puglia ITALY

Puglia is a region in Southern Italy which is perhaps better known as the heel in the country’s boot-shaped formation.

Bordering the Adriatic and Ionian seas, it’s a place where crystal-clear waters are available from a number of beautiful destinations, in fact its coastline is longer than any other mainland Italian region.

The capital city of the region is Bari and

it’s known for its quaint old towns and large basilicas.

The region has two national parks in Alta Murgia and Gargano, which has a number of rugged mountains. These two parks contribute to the impression of Puglia being one of the richest archaeological region in Italy. Otranto itself, is a historic seaside town made up of white buildings,

picturesque waters and a number of diving rocks for those brave enough.

Home to the Castle of Otranto, many visitors are equally fascinated by the mass amount of Gothic architecture on offer.

The town’s Romanesque cathedral is a quaint structure that many locals visit again and again, mainly to see the 12thcentury mosaic on display inside.

Grand Hotel Riviera SANTA MARIA AL BAGNO, PUGLIA The Grand Hotel Riviera is in the picturesque village of Santa Maria al Bagno in the region of Puglia. Surrounded by lush pine forests, it sits on the Gulf of Gallipoli, close to Salento and a 20-minute drive from the Nature Reserve of Porto Selvaggio. It has three panoramic terraces and two swimming pools with impressive sea views. At the front of the hotel there’s a flat rocky shore that’s ideal for swimming, and 400 metres south of the hotel there’s a white-sand beach that gently slopes into the sea. In the opposite

direction, just 800 metres away, you’ll find the pretty beach of Santa Caterina.

The hotel has a restaurant serving both Italian and international fare and guests can enjoy the food here from the large terrace offering sea view. Additionally, there is an American-style bar with a pianist for further entertainment. There is also an outdoor snack bar for guests to use for refreshments, while the outdoor hot tub is an ideal location to take in the gorgeous weather.
